Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
~~~~~ Alex – Fighting Authority ~~~~~
I couldn’t follow her. She was gone when I got outside. No trace of her was left. Kylie was gone.
I messed it up. Somehow I always manage to screw things up. No matter how hard I try, I always mess things up, and this time is no different.
The rumors are spreading like a the great plague with great speed and leaving nothing but destruction and lies. Everyone was either talking about my almost kiss with Ismael, or Kylie’s break up.
She came to me for support, and I almost kissed Ismael. She needed a friend and I screwed up. Kylie crying is the image that has been hunting in my mind.
She didn’t come to creative writing. I didn’t see the back of her beautiful head. I couldn’t smell her intoxicating smell. I didn’t see her eyes. She simply wasn’t there to get me through the day.
The halls are empty as I walk through them. The bell rang about five minutes ago, but I can’t manage to get my head right. My mind simply won’t stop thinking of Kylie. Everyone was already in class either dying if boredom or ready to learn things that they might or might not need to know. That is, everyone except Kylie and I. She disappeared, and I don’t know if shell come back or not.
“Kylie where are you?” I whisper softly begging for an answer. Something that can guide me to her, anything.
“This just in, it seems that a man is on the top of the old Parker warehouse threatening to jump. The name of the man is still being investigated.”
I walked over to the open door and looked inside the current events classroom out of pure curiosity. A TV was in the front of the classroom displaying the local news with footage of the man on the roof top. Students listened attentively as they took notes over the matter.
A reporter is seen next to the warehouse. She’s dressed professionally in a black skirt suit holding the microphone in one hand and papers in the other. The wind blows her hair into her face but she keeps her cool and keeps on broadcasting.
“Wait a minute is that a girl?” she says putting the papers above her eyes so she can see better. “Ladies and gentlemen it seems that there is a young girl in a cheer leading uniform also on top of the roof. How did they get on top of the roof? The door is sealed. No one has been in there since it was closed 5 years ago.” The reporter pointed to the roof where the girl was sitting down. The camera zoomed to the spot the reporter pointed and stopped when the image was clear.
I instantly froze. The image displayed Kylie sitting down on the rooftop talking to a man. My knees got weak as I watched the image in pure horror. Kylie is on top of a roof top, with a man who was threatening to jump. Is she out of her mind?
The moment of weakness lasted only seconds. I snapped out of it and ran as fast as my legs allowed me. The discomfort of my gym bag and backpack could to an extent be avoided, but only for a few moments.
I remember seeing the warehouse when driving with Cassandra a few days ago when she was giving me the details of our new arrangement. She had said that the city was a beautiful place, but when seeing the abandon warehouse, it proved to show other wise.
Cars honk and the angry drivers yell as I ran pass them not waiting for the light to turn. I avoid getting run over and keep running. The ones who are walking look at me weirdly as I pass them by but that still doesn’t stop me. Nothing can stop me right now. Kylie’s my priority, she has to be ok. She just has to be ok.
‘Seeing a girl run like hell through the streets with a purpose is not a common thing to witness.’ do you think she’s ok? ‘why are you doing all this?’ what do you mean why?! She could be in danger. ‘but your not her mother nor her anything.’ I’m her friend.
Running and talking with myself is taking me nowhere. Even if I keep up with my current speed it will still take me about 30 minutes to get to the warehouse.
“watch where your going!” yells a person as I run pass them almost knocking us both down. I was going to apologize but saw that the person has a skate board.
“please please I need your skate board.” I tell the person putting my hands together begging. The guy looks at me weirdly and shakes his head no. I say please a few more times as a tear falls to the ground. I take a deep breath and control myself. If anything happens to her…
‘Nothing is going to happen to her.’ God I hope you’re right.
The guy looks at me and takes off his helmet handing me both the helmet and skateboard. I hug him and thank him. He just stares at me as I put the skateboard down. The helmet is a little big but I adjust it as I speed down the busy sidewalk.
The place is crowded when I finally arrive at sight. Police have yellow tape up not letting anyone in. The reporter on the far corner is still broadcasting the event. Many other reporters are also in the scene trying to figure out what’s happening.
I take off the helmet and put it on the top of the board as I place them both on the ground beside me.
The mystery guy was identified as James Anderson, the mayors son. Every news channel had arrived as soon as he was identified. Everyone wanted to know why in the world James wanted to jump.
The fire department had arrived with heavy equipment just after a beer bottle fell to the ground breaking as it the cement. I distinctively heard a whistle and looked up but saw nothing.
Seconds later a loud roar was heard as the firefighters turned on their machines and started working on the door.
I tried to go under the tape but the guard stopped me and asked me to step back. I didn’t listen and went under the tape. I have to get to her before something happens to her.
A few seconds later five policemen were holding me down. ‘It doesn’t take one or two to hold me down, no it takes five to completely hold me down.’ shut up and help me.
“Let me go!” I yelled at them trying to escape their grasp. I had two holding my legs and the rest holding the rest of my body down on the ground. I kicked the two holding my legs and punched the ones holding my arms but only managed to take out those four.
“God!! calm down!” The last man said holding my hands behind my back. I stepped on his foot and shot my head backward breaking his nose. He cried out in pain but still had a strong hold on me. ‘is this fool on steroids or something?’
My last attempt is sure to work. Steroids or no steroids this man is going down. Taking a deep breath I lifted my leg forward and bent it backwards putting all my strength behind it. The man fell backwards crying out in pain, so much pain. His eyes went to the back of his head as he rolled on the ground.
‘I highly doubt he will ever have kids again.’ He will, it’ll just take a few weeks to heal. ‘you are so bad.’ He asked for it.
I forgot about everything else and ran to the warehouse leaving the cop on the ground. A new set of cops were behind me in seconds. ‘not again.’ People stared at the scene before them speechless. No one knew nor understood why I was beating up cops.
“Kylie!” I screamed looking up at her. She was screaming with her arms spread across like a madmen. She looked like a beautiful angel standing high above everyone else. Her ayes met mine for a few seconds but then she looked away.
The cops were by my side in few moments holding me again. I looked up but she was sitting again. ‘What is she doing?’
“Do you know who the girl is?” Asked the cop I had punched in the face a few minutes ago. I nodded still looking up. Kylie once again met my gaze but looked away. I can’t think anymore. This is driving me crazy.
“Her name is Kylie Balthazar.” I said to the cop. He nodded and walked away to someone else. I paid little attention to what was going on around me or the cops holding me in place. Kylie was my propriety. She was the one who mattered not the stupid cops who were doing next to nothing about the situation.
Minutes went by with nothing happening. Kylie and the guy have not been seen since they left the rooftop. The firemen still continued fighting but were losing against the heavy door. The cops never loosened their grip as they held me in place waiting for something to happen. Everyone held their breaths waiting for what was to come. But nothing was happening.
Suddenly, the firemen stopped their pursuit on the door and backed away. Everyone turned to the door that was slowly opening. Two figures came out slowly walking side by side.
I ran to her at full speed getting away from the cops.
“Kylie!!” I Screamed as she looked around her amazed. I couldn’t stop myself and almost knocked us both down. She was surprised to see me but hugged me back either way.
“never do that again. You hear me? Never do it again!” Tears began to form in my eyes. She’s okay. She’s here, with me. She’s alive.
“what are you doing here?” Kylie asks breaking the embrace. I wipe the tears and look at her in disbelief.
‘Did she seriously just ask that?’
I had no time to answer her since the reporters broke through the police force and came to question Kylie and James. I backed away and started to walk away.
She doesn’t even want me here. All I did to get to her was useless. She doesn’t want me.
“Wait!” I heard the voice but didn’t turn back. I kept on walking with my head down. I want nothing to do with this. I’m Done.
A reporter was running towards me already asking questions. I simply walk faster and say nothing.
“Freeze!” Noting that I was not going to stop, a person ran to me and grabbed my arm. I turned around to find the chief of police handcuffing me.
“You are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent….” I was read my Miranda Rights and thrown in the back of a police cruiser.
“What are you doing?!” Demanded Kylie as she approached me. “Let her go!” She got closer to the car wanting to open the door to get me out. The police chief stopped her and turned her around before she could even touch the car.
“This young lady just injured 4 of my best officers and put one in the hospital.” the chief said in anger. Kylie looked between me and the chief not knowing what to say or do. “She is going to spend some time in juvenile detention.”
Kylie walked up and touched the glass of the car as tears fell from her eyes. The chief held her by the waist holding her back. I looked into her eyes one last time.
The cop in the driver seat sped away after the chief gave him the signal. Kylie broke the chiefs hold and ran after the car until it was too far away. She fell to her knees and watched as the car sped away.
Kylie was out of sight when the car turned the corner.
Maybe this is how it was meant to be. She’ll be better off without me anyway. I just hope I can move on… In Juvi?
“ooh Case is going to hear about this.’ Oh shit!
~~~~~ Kylie – What have I done? ~~~~~
Kylie watched as they took Alex away in the cruiser. She had done this and there was nothing she could do about it. She made Alex do what she did.
Everyone witnessed what happened and were still asking questions.
Kylie put herself together, got up, and asked the chief where they were taking her. After the man gave her the address, Kylie pulled out her phone and the number Rachael told her to call if there was an emergency. This was certainly an emergency.
“Hello?” Rachael answered unsure of why Kylie was calling her.
“Alex was taken to Juvi. I need your help to get her out.” Kylie sped through her words not knowing if Rachael could even understand her. Kylie told her everything from the part that she came to the warehouse saved someone only to find out that Alex had fought with cops and was arrested.
Rachael and Mike came minutes later. They sped to the address Kylie was given. Many questions were asked on the ride to the detention center. Kylie didn’t know what to say since she was asking herself the very same questions.
“all i know is that after I came down from the roof top, Alex came running to me asking if I wad okay. Next thing I know I’m surround by crazy reporters trying to make me talk. Alex had left and I couldn’t see her anywhere. When I spotted her, she was being handcuffed and put in a police car.” Kylie took a deep breath and tried to calm down.
It didn’t make any since. Why would Alex beat up policeman?
~~~~~ Alex – Prison with a less severe name ~~~~~
“we’re here.” said the police officer turning off the engine. I bent down trying to see where exactly ‘here’ is. The building seemed like a factory. The color of the walls drained having no life. The brick building holds no sign of a kind and friendly place.
‘Don’t act like you’ve never seen one of these places before.’ well at least the one in Texas had awesome graffiti on the walls. ‘yeah well happy people don’t put officers in the hospital.’ oh shut up will you?
The officer opened the door and grabbed my arm getting me out of the car. I shook his hand off furiously, he had no right grabbing me.
The officer then pushed me forward ordering me to walk not allowing me to say a single word. I listened and did everything he told me, not wanting to get in yet more trouble.
Cassandra has enough to deal with already. ‘dude I can’t wait, she is going to kick your as-‘ hey dumbass if i go down you go down with me, so if i were you, which i am, i would shut the hell up! ‘ok, ok. Jeez can’t take a joke?’
“Hello officer.” greets the woman in the front desk when we arrive at her desk. She smiles at him warmly not acknowledging my presence. The officer blushes and returns the greeting by shaking her hand. After a light conversation the officer goes straight to business and tells her about my case.
“Whoa! Is Mark going to be ok?” she asked after hearing about the guy I had put in the hospital. The officer nodded his head and glared at me.
“well then lets start shall we?” with that said the cop grabbed me yet again by the arm and dragged me.
“turn around so I can take the handcuffs off.” he commended getting the keys from his belt.
“here you go.” I say handing him the handcuffs. They both stared at me with their mouths wide open.
“how did you take them off?” asked the woman almost impressed.
“it’s something I learned from a friend down in Texas. Its amazing what you learn down in Texas.” I wink at her and smile while massaging my wrists. I didn’t expect my hands to be this sore, the dang handcuffs were not as easy to take off as I thought they would be.
“give me you’re left pinky.” the lady whose name was Kelly said grabbing my hand and rolling my pinkyin ink and then on a paper. This was repeated for every finger until they had my every fingerprint.
Since I had hacked the documented information they took in my last visit they had to redo the whole process.
‘fun.’ hey, hey. I had to sneak in a juvenile detention in the middle of the night, knock someone out, and on top of that I had to flirt with the boy in the office to get the files. I saved your behind so you have no say in this.
The mug shots were next. With this I had my fun, lets just say that Kelly is not my number one fan.
The card had my own number and information on it. I held it and smiled looking into the camera like an idiot. ‘you are an idiot, you idiot.’
“no smiling.” Kelly says retaking the picture. I grin and turn around giving her my best smile. She looks pissed after multiple shots and finally decides to give up.
“put everything you are carrying with you in this bag.” Kelly hands me a Ziploc bag and watches as I take everything from my pockets out and put it in the bag. The phone, a couple dollars, a paper clip, and a piece of paper is all I have on me which is now in a clear bag.
“the bracelet and necklace too.” she said pointing to my neck and wrist.
“No” I say sternly.
Seeing that I will not take either of those items off Kelly tries to manually take them off. I slap her hand away and back away. “these stay with me. Take everything else but the necklace and the bracelet stay with me.” the determination on my voice scares her as she backs away a few steps.
The necklace was a gift my parents gave me right before they died. Its all I got left of their memory and I will not take it off. What lays under the bracelet is something that I’ve wanted to erase ever since it happened.
“either you put it in the bag or suffer the consequences.” she warns picking up the phone. I look right into her eyes and stare her down. “the necklace and bracelet stay with me.”
It took half the staff of men to hold me so Kelly could take the items off. She opens the bag and puts them inside. After sealing the bag she smiles triumphantly. “ha I told you!” she says throwing the bag in the air and watching as it comes back down. She pretends to drop it but catches it before it completely falls out of her hands.
Out of rage I spit in her face wanting to do something worst to her. The men hold me tighter not letting me move an inch closer to the woman. Kelly furiously cleans her face with her sleeve and slaps me across the face. The contact of her rings with my face leave an instant red spot on my cheek. A female worker holds her back trying to control het. Kelly yells for her to let her go while I fight to be free and hurt this woman who has messed with the most sacred thing I have in my life, my parents memory.
when Kelly finally calms down she goes with her co-worker to the other room. The other workers holding me also leave after an old guy arrives asking them to let me free.
“these are your clothes and sandals which you are required to keep clean.” the old man hands me the clothes and starts walking again. He seems in his late 50’s having a nice smile and soft hands like any other old person I’ve met.
the uniform is a plain long-sleeved white shirt with blue pants and an undershirt. The sandals are black open-toed. The pair of socks are also a plain white.
‘so they still don’t trust teens with laces huh?’ you know what I could do with a shoe lace? ‘yeah you showed me with the principal of the last school you attended.’ oh yeah.
“The bathroom is at the end of the hall.” he said pointing to the direction. I walked over to the bathroom and changed.
The shirts were perfect while the pants were a little to big. ‘Story of my life.’
~~~~~
I know I know, you hate me but hear me out. I’m sorry I did not upload in like weeks. I’m sick. And once again manage to get my gf sick which means double the torture. Let me just say that seeing her puke out her intestines, sexiest thing ever. 😉 and I had finals, holiday plans and my sister is pregnant!!! I’m going to be an aunt!! 🙂
But that isn’t important right now, what is important is that I need you’re help. Its not related to this story, its personal.
Ok so I need you guys to tell me what to do. I kinda of umm… got kissed and it was not by my gf.
First of all, it was so not my fault and lets just keep in mind that I love my gf, but I got kissed by her brother.
The question I’m asking is, should I tell her or not? Will this break us up? Cuz I can’t accept that. Maybe I led him on or he misread the situation. I feel Terrible (not because I have the flu) about it.
So just please tell me what to do, cause I don’t know what to do.
oh and should I continue writing this or not?
