Chapter 30

Jisoo & Rosé’s POV

“This is a bad idea.”

“It’s a responsible idea,” Rosé corrected, gently pushing the pet carrier closer to Jisoo. “They need their vaccines.”

From inside the carriers—

meow.

MEOW.

Jisoo winced. “They sound offended.”

“They are offended,” Rosé said. “Jennie thinks we’re betraying her.”

“Jennie always thinks that.”

Another loud, dramatic meow echoed from the white fluff’s carrier.

Jisoo sighed. “Yeah, that one was personal.”

The vet clinic was calm.

Too calm.

Jisoo sat stiffly while Rosé filled out forms. The carriers were placed side by side—

—and somehow, Lisa had already managed to squeeze her paw through the bars, reaching toward Jennie.

Jennie immediately pressed her face against the gap.

Rosé paused mid-writing. “…They can’t even be separated for five minutes.”

Jisoo muttered, “I told you. Married.”

“Next!”

They both stood.

The moment the carriers were opened—

Jennie bolted straight into Lisa.

Not away.

Not hiding.

Straight. Into. Lisa.

Rosé blinked. “She picked her safe person.”

Jisoo whispered, “That’s not normal.”

Lisa, meanwhile, stood protectively in front of Jennie, tail slightly puffed, eyes alert.

The vet smiled. “Aww, they’re very bonded.”

“Bonded is one word,” Rosé mumbled.

The check-up started normally.

Weight. Temperature. Basic exam.

Then—

The vet paused.

“…Oh.”

Jisoo and Rosé froze.

“What?” they said in unison.

The vet adjusted her glasses, looking closer at Lisa.

“Well… this is interesting.”

Jisoo felt her soul leave her body. “Why is it interesting?”

The vet turned slightly toward them. “Your gray cat—Lisa—is intersex.”

Silence.

Rosé blinked. “Inter… what?”

“It means she has both male and female reproductive traits,” the vet explained calmly. “In Lisa’s case, she has male anatomy present.”

Jisoo’s brain stopped working.

“…So…”

Rosé slowly turned to look at Lisa.

Lisa, who was currently sitting very proudly in front of Jennie.

Jennie, who was hiding behind her like a tiny, fluffy wife.

“…you’re telling me,” Rosé said faintly, “that our ‘both girls’ cats—”

“—are not exactly what we thought,” the vet finished gently.

Jisoo grabbed the table.

“I need a second.”

Before either of them could process further—

Jennie let out a soft, distressed meow.

The syringe had appeared.

Lisa reacted instantly.

She moved in front of Jennie, body tense, eyes locked on the vet like she was ready to throw paws.

“Oh!” the vet chuckled. “Very protective.”

Jennie pressed herself against Lisa, practically climbing onto her.

“Lisa…” Jennie whimpered softly.

Lisa leaned down, gently nudging her. “It’s okay. I’m here.”

Rosé clutched Jisoo again. “SHE’S COMFORTING HER.”

Jisoo whispered, “I’m not okay.”

“Let’s start with Jennie,” the vet said.

Big mistake.

The moment Jennie was gently picked up—

Lisa followed.

Not aggressively.

But insistently.

Right at the vet’s side, eyes glued to Jennie.

Jennie reached out with a tiny paw toward Lisa, clearly stressed.

Lisa immediately pressed closer, letting Jennie touch her.

“It’s okay,” Lisa murmured softly. “Just a second.”

Jennie sniffled dramatically.

Jisoo covered her mouth. “Why does this feel like watching a couple at the hospital—”

“I KNOW,” Rosé whispered-shouted.

The shot was quick.

Jennie let out the tiniest, most betrayed squeak—

—and immediately buried her face into Lisa’s fur the second she was free.

Lisa licked her head repeatedly, soothing her.

“There, there,” Lisa murmured. “You’re okay.”

Jennie clung to her like her life depended on it.

Then came Lisa’s turn.

Jennie refused to let go.

Actually refused.

The vet tried to gently lift Lisa—

Jennie tightened her grip.

“Ma’am,” Rosé said weakly, “I don’t think they consent to separation.”

The vet laughed. “We’ll do it together then.”

So they did.

Jennie stayed pressed against Lisa the entire time, watching closely, eyes wide.

Lisa, meanwhile?

Calm.

Relaxed.

Almost smug.

“You’re not scared?” Jennie whispered.

Lisa flicked her tail. “I have to be strong. My wife is watching.”

Jennie melted.

Rosé made a choking sound.

As everything wrapped up, the vet casually added—

“Well, just something to keep in mind.”

Jisoo was already pale. “Please don’t say anything else.”

“If Jennie isn’t spayed,” the vet continued, “you might expect a litter once she goes into heat.”

Silence.

Utter silence.

Rosé slowly turned.

Jisoo swayed.

“…A litter?”

The vet nodded.

Jisoo almost collapsed.

“I’m going to faint.”

Rosé grabbed her. “NOT HERE.”

Behind them—

Jennie was still clinging to Lisa, purring softly now.

“You did so well,” Jennie whispered.

Lisa leaned into her, clearly pleased. “Of course I did.”

Jennie nuzzled her. “My brave wife.”

Lisa purred.

Meanwhile—

Jisoo sat in the corner, staring into nothing.

Rosé patted her shoulder.

“…We’re going to be grandparents.”

Jisoo blinked slowly.

“I didn’t sign up for this.”

And in the carrier on the way home—

Jennie refused to let Lisa go.

Not even for a second.
