Chapter 29
“They’re Just… Roommates, Right?” (Jisoo & Rosé)
—
Jisoo & Rosé’s POV
Jisoo had always considered herself a calm, rational person.
That belief was hanging by a thread.
“I’m telling you,” Rosé whispered dramatically from the couch, clutching a pillow like she was watching a thriller, “they’re doing it again.”
Jisoo sighed, already knowing where this was going. “Rosé, they’re cats.”
Rosé slowly pointed toward the living room rug.
Jisoo followed her finger.
There they were.
Jennie — their impossibly fluffy white cat — was sprawled like a queen on the soft rug, her fur glowing under the afternoon sun. Draped over her like she belonged there was Lisa, their sleek gray cat, her tail lazily flicking while her head rested right against Jennie’s neck.
Jennie let out a soft, pleased purr.
Lisa responded by nuzzling closer.
Rosé grabbed Jisoo’s arm. “You see that?! That’s not normal cat behavior.”
Jisoo squinted.
“…They’re cuddling.”
“They cuddle like they pay rent together and argue about groceries!” Rosé whisper-yelled.
Jisoo crossed her arms, watching more carefully now.
Lisa suddenly lifted her head, gently licking the top of Jennie’s fluffy head. Jennie responded by rolling slightly onto her side, exposing more of her soft belly — a privilege she never gave anyone.
Except Lisa.
“…Okay,” Jisoo admitted slowly, “that’s… a little suspicious.”
Rosé leaned in, eyes wide. “I told you! And remember yesterday? Jennie hissed at me because I moved Lisa from her spot!”
“That’s because you interrupted her nap.”
“No, that’s because I interrupted her wife time.”
Jisoo blinked.
“…wife time.”
Rosé nodded solemnly.
As if on cue, Lisa curled herself tighter around Jennie, tucking her head under Jennie’s chin. Jennie’s fluffy tail wrapped around Lisa like a protective blanket.
They looked… domestic.
Comfortable.
Attached.
Married.
Jisoo rubbed her temples. “We literally adopted them both as girls.”
Rosé whispered, “And yet here we are.”
A beat.
Jennie suddenly let out a tiny, demanding meow.
Lisa immediately stood up, trotting toward the food bowl.
Rosé gasped. “SHE FETCHES FOOD FOR HER?!”
Jisoo stared.
Lisa nudged the bowl, then looked back at Jennie like she was reporting for duty.
Jennie blinked slowly.
Lisa trotted back.
Rosé clutched Jisoo again. “That’s not a cat. That’s a husband.”
Jisoo exhaled slowly.
“…I think we accidentally adopted a married couple.”
—
Lisa & Jennie’s POV
Lisa liked to think she was a very independent cat.
Elegant. Cool. Mysterious.
That was before Jennie.
Now?
She was wrapped around a fluffy white menace who purred like a motor and demanded affection like it was oxygen.
Jennie shifted slightly beneath her, soft fur tickling Lisa’s nose.
“Stay,” Jennie murmured in soft little meows, her tail tightening around Lisa.
Lisa huffed lightly. “I wasn’t going anywhere.”
Jennie blinked slowly, golden eyes warm and smug.
“You always say that,” Jennie teased, nudging her head under Lisa’s chin. “But you still come back.”
Lisa flicked her tail. “Because you’re clingy.”
“I am not clingy,” Jennie protested, immediately pressing closer.
Lisa raised a brow.
Jennie ignored that.
“Also,” Jennie added proudly, “you like it.”
Lisa didn’t respond.
Instead, she lowered her head and licked the top of Jennie’s fluffy head.
Jennie melted.
“See?” Jennie mumbled, purring louder. “You’re obsessed with me.”
“I tolerate you.”
“You brought me food this morning.”
Lisa froze.
Jennie’s eyes sparkled. “And yesterday. And the day before that.”
“…You were hungry.”
“I’m always hungry.”
Lisa sighed.
That was unfortunately true.
Jennie stretched lazily, exposing her soft belly again — but only to Lisa. Her paw reached up, gently pulling Lisa closer.
“Come here,” Jennie murmured.
Lisa resisted for exactly one second.
Then she settled back into Jennie’s warmth, tucking her head against her.
Jennie immediately began purring again, loud and content.
“They’re watching us,” Lisa muttered quietly, glancing toward their humans.
Jennie didn’t even look. “Let them.”
“They’re… confused.”
“They’re always confused,” Jennie said simply.
Lisa let out a small amused huff.
Another quiet moment passed, filled with warmth and soft purring.
Jennie nudged her again.
“Lisa.”
“…What.”
“I love you.”
Lisa stilled.
Her tail flicked once.
“…You’re dramatic.”
Jennie grinned, eyes half-lidded. “And you didn’t say no.”
Lisa leaned down, pressing her forehead gently against Jennie’s.
“I love you too,” she admitted softly.
Jennie beamed, pulling her closer like she’d won something.
From across the room—
“OH MY GOD THEY’RE STARING INTO EACH OTHER’S EYES AGAIN!”
Lisa groaned. “They’re loud.”
Jennie just purred. “Ignore them. Come cuddle.”
Lisa rolled her eyes.
…but didn’t move away.
Instead, she curled tighter around Jennie, tail wrapping securely around her fluffy wife.
—
And from that day on, Jisoo and Rosé stopped arguing about it.
Because no matter how many times they said it—
“They’re just cats.”
—the evidence on the living room rug said otherwise.
