Chapter 14

Jennie had that look again.

The one that meant trouble.

Lisa didn’t even bother looking up from her phone. “No.”

A pause. “I didn’t even say anything yet.”

Lisa finally glanced at her girlfriend, who was standing in the middle of the living room, phone already mounted on a tripod, eyes sparkling with mischief.

“You don’t have to,” Lisa sighed, already knowing. “Your face says everything, Nini.”

Jennie pouted, dragging out her voice. “Liliii… come on. Just one TikTok.”

“No.”

“Please?”

“No.”

“It’s my song.”

“…still no.”

Jennie gasped dramatically like she’d just been personally attacked. “Wow. My own girlfriend refusing to support my art.”

Lisa snorted. “I support you. I just don’t support embarrassment.”

“It’s not embarrassing!” Jennie protested, stomping her foot lightly. “It’s the ‘Like Jennie’ challenge. Everyone’s doing it.”

Lisa raised a brow. “Exactly. Everyone except me.”

Jennie crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes. “So you’re saying you don’t want to be like Jennie?”

Lisa blinked. “…that sounds like a trap.”

“It is a trap,” Jennie admitted proudly.

Lisa groaned, flopping back against the couch. “Nini, please. I have dignity.”

Jennie walked over, climbed onto the couch, and straddled Lisa’s lap without warning, hands resting on her shoulders.

“Where?” she asked sweetly.

Lisa tried not to laugh. “I’m serious.”

“So am I.” Jennie leaned in, nose brushing Lisa’s. “Do it with me.”

Lisa’s resolve wavered.

Because Jennie Kim asking nicely? Dangerous.

Jennie Kim being clingy? Fatal.

Lisa swallowed. “Just… one?”

Jennie’s entire face lit up like she’d won something. “YES!”

Five minutes later, Lisa found herself standing in front of the camera, hands awkwardly at her sides.

“I look stupid,” she muttered.

“You look hot,” Jennie corrected, fixing Lisa’s hair. “Big difference.”

Lisa glanced at the phone screen. “I don’t know the moves.”

“I’ll teach you!” Jennie beamed, grabbing her hands. “It’s easy. Just follow me.”

Lisa gave her a skeptical look. “That’s what you said last time and I almost broke my knee.”

Jennie giggled. “That was one time!”

“Twice.”

“Okay, twice,” Jennie admitted. “But this one is cute. Trust me.”

Lisa sighed. “If I fall—”

“I’ll catch you.”

Lisa blinked.

Jennie smiled softly this time, less teasing, more… warm.

“…fine,” Lisa mumbled.

The music started.

Jennie instantly switched modes—confident, playful, effortlessly charismatic. She hit every move perfectly, flipping her hair, smirking at the camera.

Lisa, on the other hand…

“…wait, what was that part again?!” she whispered mid-dance.

Jennie tried not to laugh. “Just follow me!”

“I am trying!”

Lisa missed a step, bumped into Jennie, and nearly knocked them both off balance.

They froze.

Then burst into laughter.

“Again!” Jennie said, already reaching for the phone.

“You’re evil,” Lisa groaned, but she was smiling.

Take two.

This time, Lisa focused harder, eyes glued to Jennie. Step by step, move by move, she started getting it.

Not perfect.

But close.

And when they reached the final pose—Jennie striking her iconic “Like Jennie” attitude while Lisa copied her with a slightly exaggerated flair—

Jennie broke character first, laughing as she grabbed Lisa’s arm.

“You did it!”

Lisa blinked. “I did?”

“You actually did!” Jennie clapped, bouncing in place. “See? Not embarrassing!”

Lisa glanced at the recording.

“…okay maybe just a little embarrassing.”

Jennie gasped. “It’s cute!”

Lisa rolled her eyes. “You’re biased.”

“Of course I am. You’re my girlfriend.”

Lisa tried to hide her smile but failed miserably.

Jennie suddenly leaned in and kissed her cheek—quick, soft, affectionate.

“That’s your reward.”

Lisa froze for half a second before grinning. “That’s it?”

Jennie smirked. “Upload it first. Then we’ll negotiate.”

Lisa laughed, pulling Jennie closer by the waist. “You tricked me.”

Jennie hummed happily. “And you still did it.”

Lisa looked at her—really looked at her—soft eyes, bright smile, the kind of happiness that made everything feel light.

“…yeah,” Lisa said quietly. “Worth it.”

Jennie tilted her head. “Hmm?”

Lisa just shook her head, smiling. “Nothing, Nini.”

Jennie didn’t push.

Instead, she grabbed her phone, already editing the video, completely excited again.

“Oh my god, we look so good.”

“We?” Lisa teased.

“Yes, we,” Jennie insisted. “But mostly me.”

Lisa laughed, wrapping an arm around her from behind, resting her chin on Jennie’s shoulder as they watched the clip together.

“…okay,” Lisa admitted. “You do look really good.”

Jennie turned her head slightly, smug. “And you?”

Lisa shrugged. “I look like someone forced into this.”

Jennie grinned. “Exactly. That’s the charm.”

Lisa groaned. “I’m never doing this again.”

Jennie hit “post” with a satisfied tap. “We’ll see.”

Lisa tightened her hold on her, pressing a quick kiss to her temple.

“…I hate that I’d probably do it again.”

Jennie giggled. “I know.”
