Chapter 17
The rehearsal studio was buzzing.
Katseye had just touched down in Seoul for a special collaboration with BLACKPINK – a powerhouse single for an upcoming festival. You weren’t part of the band, but as Dani’s girlfriend, you’d been tagging along for the trip. Supportive, low-profile. Mostly.
What you hadn’t expected was how surreal it would feel stepping into a room with Jennie, Lisa, Rose and Jisoo.
You weren’t starstruck – not exactly. But their energy hit like a static in the air. Confident. Magnetic. And apparently, very curious about you.
“Y/n, right?” Jennie said, walking over with a warm smile that somehow still felt flirtatious. “Dani’s told us about you.”
“Only the good parts,” you replied smoothly, matching her tone. You didn’t mean to flirt – not really – but Jennie had that effect.
Dani’s hand brushed your back as she walked by, casually territorial.
The look she gave Jennie? Not subtle.
*
Hours into rehearsals, the vocal booth echoed with harmonies and reverb. You offered a small suggestion about layering background vocals during a break. Just something you noticed from sitting in the corner.
Jennie had overheard.
“That’s smart,” she said, flashing a grin as she leaned down next to you. “You’ve got a good ear. Are you sure you’re not in a band too?”
You laughed. “Nope. Just hang around one too much.”
Lisa chimed in from across the room. “Dani’s gonna have to watch out – you’re cooler than half the artists we’ve worked with.”
Dani, stretching by the amp stack, froze.
She didn’t say anything. But when you met her eyes, her gaze lingered.
Possessive. Hot.
*
The team went out for a BBQ after rehearsal.
Over grilled meat and soju, the table loosened up. The laughter came easy. But then Jennie leaned forward and asked, innocently, “So… what’s it like dating someone in a band like Katseye? Is Dani clingy?”
Before you could answer, Dani replied with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “She doesn’t get the chance to find out. I don’t leave her side long enough.”
The table laughed, but Jennie raised a brow – intrigued.
You felt Dani’s hand on your thigh under the table.
Claiming.
*
Back at the hotel, Dani shut the door behind you with a soft click.
Silence.
You turned, leaning against the desk, watching her strip off her jacket. “You okay?”
“She kept looking at you,” Dani said finally. “Jennie. Like she wanted to make a move.”
“She didn’t,” you said gently.
“But she could.”
You walked over to her, taking her hands, grounding her. “So could anyone. But they don’t. Because I’m yours. You think I’d trade you for a pop star with shiny boots and a wink?”
Dani’s jaw tensed. Then softened.
“I’m not used to being jealous,” she admitted.
You smiled, brushing your lips over hers. “Maybe I like jealous Dani.”
She kissed you deeper, rougher. “Careful. You’ll bring out the version of me that doesn’t play nice.”
*
The next day during a livestream, BLACKPINK and Katseye sat together in front of fans.
You stayed off camera, in your usual spot – just behind the team, watching.
Then came the fan question:
“Who from BLACKPINK would you collab with for a duet ballad?”
Dani answered smoothly: “Probably Jennie. She’s got range. And a good eye for dynamics.”
Jennie smiled.
Then Dani added, “But if we’re being honest, the only person I actually want to sing to is off-camera.” She turned her head. Locked eyes with you. Smirked.
The fans went wild in the comments.
Lisa laughed. “Okayyy, so she’s soft and possessive.”
Rose whispered loudly: “She’s so whipped.”
Jisoo raised her glass of water. “To true love.”
*
Later that night, Dani pulled you into the elevator, with her arms wrapped around your waist.
“Still jealous?” you teased, brushing your lips against her neck.
“No,” she said, kissing the corner of your mouth. “Because I realised something.”
“What?”
Dani grinned. “I don’t need to compete. You’re already mine.”
And the look she gave you?
Made you feel like you always had been.
