Chapter 16
It started innocently enough.
A pile of pillows. A few open bottles (some wine, some coke). Some had made popcorn – it was now half-eaten and very much stepped on. You were sitting between Dani’s legs on the floor while she played lazily with the hem of your shirt, and the rest of Katseye was already two glasses deep into mild chaos.
Manon raised her brow. “Okay. We’ve hit that hour. Truth or dare?”
Groans and giggles broke out immediately.
“Absolutely not,” Yoonchae said, holding up a hand. “Last time I ended up texting my ex. I will not be manipulated.”
“You kissed your ex,” Sophia corrected. “On FaceTime.”
“I said what I said.”
Still, a circle formed. Someone turned the music down. Someone else dimmed the lights like this was a seance for poor decisions.
And then the bottle spun.
*
The neck of the bottle landed on Megan.
Megan smirked, crossing her legs in her black sweats and hoodie. “Dare.”
Manon lit up immediately. “Text the third person in your contacts and ask if they’re up for a ‘no-questions-asked hookup.’ No context.”
Lara howled. Sophia choked on her drink.
Megan raised an eyebrow. “You people are evil.”
But she did it. Thumbs tapping. Sent. And then she held up her phone. “Third contact is our stylist, by the way. So expect to be dressing in silence next week.”
*
This time, the bottle landed on Dani. The room collectively leaned in.
Sophia grinned. “Truth.”
Dani arched a brow. “Wow, no warm up?”
Sophia wasn’t fazed. “If you had to hook up with any member of Katseye except your girlfriend…” She winked at you. “Who’s getting lucky?”
Dani groaned, dragging her hand down her face.
“Y’all are gonna get me in trouble,” she muttered.
Megan grinned. “You’re already in trouble.”
Dani hesitated. Then pointed at Sophia. “But only because she’d leave before it got weird.”
Sophia raised her glass. “Respect.”
*
You got dared next.
Lara leaned forward with a gleam in her eye. “Wear Dani’s hoodie. Just the hoodie. For the rest of the game.”
You blinked. “Right now?”
Everyone ooh’d. Dani looked way too smug.
You stood up, slid Dani’s oversized hoodie off the couch and disappeared into the bathroom – returning two minutes later with bare legs, flushed cheeks, and a whole lot of judgement from Yoonchae.
Dani, predictably, looked ready to skip the rest of the game.
“Focus,” Manon teased her. “It’s not that kind of sleepover.”
Dani didn’t even pretend to argue.
*
Sophia picked truth, lounging back on a pile of blankets like she was posing for a magazine shoot.
Lara hit her with it. “What’s your biggest kink?”
Sophia didn’t even blink. “Praise. And biting.”
The room exploded.
Megan fell backward. Yoonchae dropped her soda. Dani muttered something about not being surprised.
Sophia just sipped her drink like she’d revealed the weather forecast.
*
Manon, surprisingly, didn’t flinch at the dare.
Yoonchae dared her to “Show us the most scandalous photo on your phone that isn’t you.”
Manon casually scrolled. Then turned her screen to show a very spicy shot of Dani biting your collarbone, both of you half-dressed, hair messy, mid-laugh.
Everyone screamed.
“WHAT THE HELL-” Megan pointed.
“Why do you have that?!” Dani shouted.
“I take good candids,” Manon shrugged
You bury your face in your hands. “Delete it!”
“Absolutely not.”
*
Megan leaned forward, eyes gleaming. “Truth, Lara. Where’s the widest place it’s ever gone down?”
Lara didn’t even flinch. “Backstage. Right before press.”
The room exploded.
“You WHAT?!” Sophia yelled, nearly spilling her drink
Yoonchae gasped, “Like- with us nearby?!”
“I was on the other side of that wall!” Manon said, scandalised but also kind of impressed.
Lara just shrugged like she’d just said she’d forgotten to water a plant.
“The adrenaline was high, the makeup was already done, and the closet had a lock. What do you want from me?”
Dani covered her face with a pillow. “Please stop giving my girlfriend ideas.”
You: “No promises.”
*
Manon, ever the instigator, grinned like a cat. “Yoonchae. Dare. Get the whipped cream.”
Yoonchae blinked. “From the fridge?!”
“Unless you wanna tap out.”
“I never tap out.”
Two minutes later, a can of whipped cream appeared. Everyone sat up straighter.
Yoonchae scanned the group. “I pick Megan.”
Megan’s eyes went wide. “Oh, what the hell-“
“Neck. Tilt your head.”
Megan, giggling and blushing, tilted her head. Yoonchae sprayed a perfect swirl just beneath her jawline and leaned in, slow and confident, tongue dragging in a way that made everyone shift uncomfortably.
Megan’s eyes fluttered shut. “Okay, that was… that was way more than a dare.”
“Ten out of ten.” Dani muttered, eyes narrowed. “I am never letting whipped cream into this house again.”
*
Lara wasn’t letting Dani off easy.
“You. Dare. Whisper something filthy in her ear. If she laughs, you lose.”
Dani looked at you with a slow, wicked smirk.
You tried to steel yourself.
She leaned in close, her breath tickling your neck, her hand slipping beneath the blanket draped over your lap. Whatever she whispered – it started with your name and ended with something that made your thighs press together under the blanket.
Your eyes widened. A sound got caught in your throat.
You held your face steady for a solid three seconds before breaking. “Nope. I can’t. You win.”
The girls erupted.
“What did she say?!”
“Oh my god, she whispered with a hand motion too-“
“I’m so scared of you both,” Megan said, half-laughing, half-horrified.
Dani kissed your cheek. “Private info. But I’ll demonstrate later.”
You buried your face in a pillow. “We are never playing this again.”
*
Sophia, never one to be outdone, pointed at Manon. “Dare me.”
Manon grinned. “Send a voice note to your last situationship that just says ‘I miss your mouth.’ No context. No emojis.”
Sophia did it without blinking. Hit record, said it way too sweetly, and sent it before anyone could stop her.
“They’ll either love it, or cry,” she said, sitting back. “And honestly, I’m fine with both.”
*
By the end of the night, the circle was half-collapsed, someone was asleep under a blanket fort, and the rest of you were still buzzing from secrets and sugar.
And as Dani pulled you into her lap, her lips brushing the shell of your ear, she whispered: “Next sleepover, we’re playing strip charades.”
