Chapter 20

(A/N: for my sake, let’s all pretend that “Hey” by Pixies was released in 1986, although in terms of music it makes no sense)

“The dingus proved to be useful!”

February 23rd

Sofia and Robin were making out in Sofia’s bedroom as Girls on Film played on the radio. Robin was on top, in between Sofia’s legs.

In a quick gesture, Robin took Sofia’s shirt off. She kept kissing her lips, and soon she started going down, leaving a trail of small kisses on her neck, stopping in her chest. Sofia kept messing with Robin’s hair as they were kissing more passionately.

Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door. Robin rolled out of bed, making Sofia laugh.

“Can I come in?” They hear Dustin ask, from the other side of the door.

“Wait!” Sofia yells, putting her shirt on and turning the radio down. “Come in!”.

“Mom asked if Robin wanted to stay for dinner” Dustin says, standing awkwardly by the door.

“Oh no, thanks. My parents want me home early” Robin responds. Dustin nods and looks at Sofia.

“Why are you wearing my Hellfire shirt? I’ve been looking for it” he asks, annoyed.

“It’s cute!” Sofia says. Dustin rolls his eyes and walks out of the room, closing the door.

“I wish we could have more privacy” Robin sighs as she lies down.

“Yeah… We don’t really have anywhere else to go… your house is a no-” Sofia says.

“-A big no” Robin adds.

“And… That’s it. We could always invade Steve’s house” Sofia jokes, as she starts playing with Robin’s hair, making her laugh.

“I wanna be alone with you… just you and me” Robin says.

“Like… alone alone?” Sofia asks, wondering if she was thinking the same as Robin.

“Yeah… I mean if you’re ready of course. I think I am, that’s why I’m suggesting it… it’s totally fine if y-you’re not-“

“I think I am too” Sofia says with a smile.

February 24th

Sofia’s car was in the mechanic, so she had to ride her bike to school. She isn’t going to have her first period today, so her class starts later than everyone else’s. There’s lots of fog and it’s raining a bit. She loves this weather though.

Sofia calls herself an autumn bitch.

She was reading a book when she realized she had 10 minutes to get to school. “Shit!” she curses, quickly putting on her black vans and grabbing her backpack.

She runs out the door, grabs her bike and starts pedaling quickly, in hopes of getting to school in time.

She can’t help but appreciate how beautiful the weather was. The trees were naked, it was cold, and it smelled like leaves.

Sofia suddenly sees the figure of a tall man at the end of the road. She gets scared and accidentally slips and falls off her bike, hearing a crack.

She winces in pain and looks around, breathing heavily and deeply scared. The figure had disappeared. A chill ran down her spine. She got up and looked at her wrist. It was throbbing in pain and looked red and out of place. She probably fractured it.

Sofia walked to the hospital with her bike since she couldn’t ride it anymore- it was too painful. After a 20 minute walk, she got to the ER.

After waiting for half an hour, the doctor called for her. She had a type one fractured wrist. He told her not to go to school and not to move her arm for the rest of the day. That meant that she couldn’t bike home, and she didn’t have enough money for a bus ticket. She had one option left.

“Hey, Steve?” she asks through the payphone. She had been crying due to the stress and pain. Mostly stress.

“Sofy?” Steve asks.

“I’m sorry to bother you, were you going to work?” she asks.

“No, I have the day off. What’s wrong?” he asks, clearly worried, hearing her trembling voice.

“I’m… I’m at the hospital” she says, after taking a deep breath.

“The hospital? What happened?” Steve asks, his voice filled with worry.

“I fell off my bike and fractured my wrist… it’s not as bad as it sounds” she responds, trying to get herself to calm down.

“Do you need anything?” Steve asks.

“Actually… c-could you pick me up?” Sofia hesitates but asks. She hated to feel like a burden to other people and to ask for favors like this, but she was really stressed.

She is now in the car with Steve. When he saw her, he immediately hugged her. She thanked him and got in the car. Music from the radio plays quietly in the background.

“You sure you’re okay?” he asks, glancing at her.

“Yeah, thanks” she responds, softly, looking out the window.

“You don’t seem fine… did something else happen?” he asks, as if he could read her face like a book.

“Uh, no. I promise” she lies. She kept replaying what she saw in her head. It made her anxious, curious. The more she thought about it, the worse she felt. After thinking about it for a while, it looked like it had a hand bigger than the other. She was probably making it up. It could be stress anyway.

He dropped her home and drove away after Sofia kindly refused his offer of staying. When she got inside it was 10:30am. If she were in school, her third period would be ending in fifteen minutes.

She carefully changed clothes, which took longer than usual, and sat on the sofa watching TV. A few minutes later, the phone started ringing. “Hi?” Sofia asks.

“Oh my god Sof, you scared me so much I thought you were dead or something, no one knew where you were, and I couldn’t even pay attention to any of my classes… what happened?” Robin rambles.

“I, uh, feel off my bike and fractured my wrist” Sofia says, expecting Robin to freak out.

“Oh… how are you feeling?” Robin asks in a very worried voice.

“I’ve been better, it doesn’t really hurt. And Steve gave me a ride home, by the way” Sofia responds.

“The dingus proved to be useful!” Robin jokes, making Sofia laugh. “What else happened?”

“You know me so well” Sofia whispers. “I’ll tell you after school, don’t worry though, it’s fine”

March 10th

Today’s Robin’s birthday!!! Me, her, and Steve are going to have dinner together at McDonald’s. I’m so excited to give her my gift 🙂 I’m wearing a green satin dress, ’cause she really likes how I look in it and today’s all about her.

Her parents wanted to spend most of the day with her, even though she said she wanted to spend it with me. I really like her. Like, reeeally like her. Sometimes I think I like her too much. She’s my whole world. I hope I don’t have to live without her. Like, ever.

Sofia closes her diary as she hears a car honk two times. She grabs her purse and runs to the door. She opens the door to the backseat of Steve’s car and enters.

“Hi” she says, seeing Robin also in the backseat.

“Hey” Steve says, starting the car.

“Hi” Robin says, looking at Sofia with dreamy eyes.

“Happy birthday again love” Sofia says, hugging Robin.

“Thank you” Robin says, pulling out of the hug and kissing Sofia. A short yet passionate kiss.

“Hey, enough of me third-wheeling” Steve says, and the two girls break up the kiss, laughing.

Throughout the ride the two lovers held hands while Robin talked about her day with her parents.

They went to McDonald’s, ordered the food, and talked a lot. It was really fun. Even though Sofia and Robin had to hide their relationship in public, they felt freer when they were with Steve.

They could talk about their relationship around him, and it felt really good. Steve gave Robin his present- new headphones- but Sofia decided to give her gift when the two of them were alone.

After two hours, Steve drove Sofia and Robin to Sofia’s house. They said their goodbyes and quietly got it. Sofia opened the door to her room, letting Robin come in.

Sofia enters the room, closes the door and when she turns to Robin, she shoves Sofia to the door and starts kissing her.

Sofia’s arms rest on Robin’s shoulders, being careful with her cast, as Robin wraps her arms around Sofia’s waist.

“I really like how you look in that dress” Robin whispers between kisses. Sofia could feel her smiling.

“Thanks” Sofia whispers back.

Robin’s hands slip to Sofia’s butt. They start walking to bed, until Sofia hits the closet with her foot, making a loud noise. Before she could curse loudly, Robin covered Sofia’s mouth with her hand.

Despite being in pain, Sofia found that extremely hot. They heard some footsteps, but after a while they stopped.

Robin removed her hand from Sofia’s mouth, and they sat in bed. Sofia grabbed a tiny box under her bed and handed it to Robin.

“Your gift” Sofia smiles, handing it to Robin.

“Aw, thanks Sof” Robin says.

She opens the box, revealing a cassette. “A mixtape?” Robin says in awe.

“It has all the songs that remind me of you” Sofia says, smiling at Robin’s fascination.

There must be a devil between us” Robin reads the title of the mixtape, which has tiny hearts and stars all over it.

Sofia smiles. “It’s perfect” Robin says as she reads the track list.

“Really?” Sofia asks.

“Yes, it’s amazing” Robin reinsures. They start kissing again.

Eventually Sofia gets up and puts the mixtape on her cassette player. It was such a special moment, and a great birthday for Robin.

They couldn’t believe how lucky they were to have each other.

A/N: here it is, the end of part two :’) even though season 4 is pretty dark, we’ll still have moments of fluff… especially in the first chapter (yall arent even a bit ready omg)
