Chapter 27
The moment the front door closed after Becky and Fosbein have left home, the entire house suddenly felt strangely quiet almost too quiet compared to how chaotic and lively it usually was whenever the triplets were together.
Only Freen, Fastian, and Fahnareeh were left inside the house now.
Freen slowly rubbed the back of her neck while trying to remember something that had been lingering inside her mind ever since Becky left earlier.
“I forgot to tell Becky something important,” Freen mumbled softly to herself under her breath while furrowing her eyebrows in annoyance. She clearly frustrated that she had only remembered it after Becky had already gone. “When she gets back later, I’ll tell her.”
Meanwhile, Fastian and Fahnareeh had already walked further inside the house with their tiny footsteps echoing softly against the floor.
Both of them immediately heading toward the living room before climbing onto the carpeted area in front of the television as if it was their daily routine.
Freen followed them from behind while placing both of her hands inside her pockets before stopping near the couch.
“Do both of you want a snack?” Freen asked casually after seeing the mini version of her already sitting comfortably on the floor while staring at the television screen.
However, before Freen could even hear an answer from them.
Fastian and Fahnareeh suddenly burst into loud sobs at the exact same time without any warning at all.
The sudden cries startled Freen so badly that her entire body stiffened in panic.
“H-Hey, hey..what happened?!” Freen immediately crouched down in front of them with wide eyes while hurriedly checking both of their arms, legs, and faces in panic as if searching for injuries. “Did both of you get hurt somewhere? Tell daddy where it hurts.”
Fahnareeh’s lips trembled pitifully before she cried even harder.
“I miss phi Rox and mommy!” she sobbed while rubbing her wet eyes with both of her tiny fists.
Fastian’s chin trembled too as he tried hard to hold back his tears despite failing miserably.
“Nahhh…I miss my wife too,” said Freen dramatically.
“When are they coming back?” Fastian asked while sounding genuinely offended by the separation as if Becky and Fosbein had abandoned them forever.
“As soon as possible, Tian,” Freen answered softly while gently brushing Fastian’s messy hair away from his forehead.
“It must be a long time,” Fahnareeh pouted sadly while crossing her tiny arms over her chest.
“They won’t be gone for long,” Freen reassured patiently before pulling both of them closer. “Trust daddy, okay? And if they takes too long to come back, daddy will go pick them up personally.”
Fastian and Fahnareeh slowly nodded their heads after hearing that, though their expressions still looked unconvinced.
Trying to distract them from crying again. Freen lightly pinched Fastian’s cheek before smiling.
“So… what do both of you want to eat tonight?” she asked. “Daddy will cook for you.”
The moment those words left Freen’s mouth, Fastian and Fahnareeh immediately turned to look at each other with identical horrified expressions spreading across their faces.
Both of them still remembered very clearly in this morning Freen had cooked a “weird taste of food.”
The problem was that Becky had been there this morning. Becky had tasted the food first before allowing them to eat it. But tonight?
Becky was not here. Meaning there would be nobody protecting them.
“Daddy…” Fastian spoke carefully as if trying not to offend her. “Can we just buy food from outside instead?”
“I agree with phi Tian,” Fahnareeh quickly added while nodding her head repeatedly. “Daddy doesn’t need to cook. We don’t want daddy to become tired.”
“And Daddy also already promised us. Daddy will not cook,” added Fastian.
“Sorry, daddy need to break our promise. It’s for your health too. We can’t eat outside food all the time,” Freen replied while sitting in front of them.
Fastian narrowed his eyes suspiciously before slowly scanning Freen from head to toe.
“Daddy…” he said carefully. “Have you fallen into poverty?”
Freen almost choked. Before she could even answer, Fahnareeh suddenly reached into the pocket of her trousers and proudly pulled out a black card.
“Daddy can use my black card,” she offered innocently while handing it toward Freen. “Mommy gave it to me.”
“This too, daddy,” Fastian added confidently before pulling out his own black card and placing it in Freen’s hand as if he were helping solve a serious financial crisis.
“When mommy comes home later,” Fahnareeh continued happily, “I’ll tell mommy to give daddy more money because we’re family.”
For a moment, Freen could only stare at the two black cards inside her hand while blinking silently in disbelief. She genuinely did not know whether to laugh or question Becky’s parenting decisions.
“But by the way,” Fastian suddenly spoke again while tilting his head curiously, “where did daddy’s money go before this?”
Fahnareeh nodded immediately beside him.”Yeah,” she agreed.
“Daddy always works so much until daddy never sees us,” Fastian continued suspiciously before pointing directly at Freen. “Daddy wasted daddy’s money, right?”He then shook his head dramatically like a disappointed adult.
“Daddy is like us when spend money, phi Tian,” said Fahnareeh.
“If mommy knows about this,” Fastian sighed deeply, “Mommy will definitely become Hulk.”
Fahnareeh immediately burst into giggles before raising her finger while mimicking Becky perfectly.
“Fahnareeh Beena Suphaphorn Armstrong!” Fahnareeh imitated in Becky’s strict tone. “Mommy always said don’t buy something you don’t like! Look it’s useless now.”
The way she copied Becky’s voice and expression was so accurate that Freen immediately burst into loud laughter.
Meanwhile, Fastian and Fahnareeh continued roasting Becky together by copying every lecture Becky had ever given them.
“Enough, enough,” Freen finally said while trying to stop laughing. “Listen carefully. Daddy has money but we can’t always eat outside food because it’s unhealthy.”
“Are we learning how to save money?” Fastian interrupted immediately without even allowing Freen to finish properly. “Daddy wants to buy the biggest plane in the world, right? That’s why daddy doesn’t want to spend more money?”
Freen stared at him in disbelief.
The way Fastian kept interrupting her conversation somehow reminded her so much of herself and Becky whenever they argued together.
They always interrupted each other endlessly until eventually Freen would surrender first. But when come to mini her, Freen refused to lose.
Without hesitation, Freen reached forward and covered Fastian’s mouth with one hand.
“Shut up, Fastian,” she said firmly while trying not to laugh. “Daddy hasn’t finished speaking yet.”
Fastian blinked dramatically while mumbling nonsense against her palm.
“We can’t eat outside food all the time because it’s unhealthy,” Freen repeated patiently after removing her hand. “Now tell daddy properly what both of you want to eat tonight.”
“Mommy’s spaghetti and chicken,” Fahnareeh answered immediately.
“Huh? Mommy’s spaghetti?” Freen raised an eyebrow. He doesn’t know what is it.
“Yeahhh,” Fahnareeh nodded confidently.
“What does mommy’s spaghetti even look like?”
“The noodles are red,” Fahnareeh explained excitedly while using both hands to describe everything inside the spaghetti she want tonight for dinner. “It has meatballs, octopus sausage, stars, and a smile face on the omelette. It’s sooo delicious.”
“Oh…” Freen nodded slowly while pretending she completely understood everything. “Okay. Daddy can do that.”
Fastian immediately raised his hand.
“I want the same like Nareeh,” he announced seriously, “but I don’t want stars. I want dinosaur nuggets and extra cheese. Put angry face on the omelette too. And I want a big chocolate shake.”
“Oh… okay…” Freen repeated slowly while mentally panicking because she had absolutely no idea how Becky managed to create such complicated meals for children.
“Besides that,” Freen added bravely, “daddy will also cook vegetable soup for both of you tonight.”
The living room immediately became silent.
“No need,” Fahnareeh rejected instantly. “We must not eat vegetables when mommy isn’t home.”
“Yeah!” Fastian agreed passionately. “Mommy always tortures us with vegetables. I don’t like it.”
Freen sighed tiredly.
“Vegetables are good for our bodies,” Freen explained while trying her best to sound convincing. “Our bodies will become strong like superheroes.”
“Then daddy must eat more vegetables,” Fahnareeh said innocently. “Daddy needs strong body to work harder and make more money.”
“Yeah!” Fastian added confidently. “We’re still kids. We don’t need to become strong yet.”
Freen almost lost the argument right there. “No,” she refused firmly. “Both of you must eat vegetables tonight.”
“It’s not delicious,” Fahnareeh complained while pouting deeply. “It tastes like grass.”
Fastian slowly turned toward her.
“Nareeh…” he asked suspiciously. “Have you ever eaten grass before?”
Fahnareeh gasped dramatically.
“Daddy!” she whined immediately while pointing at him. “Look at phi Tian. He teased me!”
“Okay, okay, enough,” Freen interrupted before the argument could grow bigger. “Let’s go sleep first. Both of you must be tired already.”
Freen carefully carried Fahnareeh into her arms while holding Fastian’s hand before bringing them upstairs toward the bedroom.
Surprisingly, the two children fell asleep rather quickly after lying down on the bed, probably because they had spent the entire day running around energetically without resting properly.
Freen sat quietly beside them afterward while staring at their sleeping faces.
–
Meanwhile, far away from the house, Becky sat inside the private waiting area while reviewing several important documents resting neatly on her lap, her sharp eyes scanning every page carefully despite the exhaustion lingering inside her body.
Beside her, Fosbein sat quietly while hugging his small toy tightly against his chest.
Suddenly, without warning, Fosbein burst into tears.
Becky immediately stopped reading.
“My handsome baby,” Becky said softly while quickly lifting him onto her lap before checking his face worriedly. “What’s wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?”
Fosbein shook his head while tears rolled down his cheeks.
“I miss nong chaiii and nong saao,” he cried sadly.
Becky’s expression softened instantly.
“Oh, baby…Mommy also miss them but mommy cannot cancel this” Becky whispered gently before kissing his forehead lovingly. “We can meet Tian and Nareeh again very soon. Mommy promises, okay?” Becky said, persuading Fosbein.
She lifted her pinky finger toward him. Fosbein slowly hooked his tiny finger around hers.
“Promise,” he mumbled weakly.
“If you’re not sleepy yet,” Becky suggested softly, “let’s talk with mommy.”
Fosbein nodded obediently before wiping his tears.
“What do you want to buy when we arrive later?” Becky asked trying to cheer him up.
Immediately, Fosbein’s eyes sparkled brightly again.
“I want to buy many toys,” he answered excitedly. “Is that okay, mommy?”
“Yeah,” Becky nodded calmly. “But the limit is ten only.”
Fosbein’s jaw dropped in complete shock. Up until now, Becky usually only allowed the triplets to buy two toys once a month no matter how much they begged. But this time? It’s limit to ten.
For the first time in his life, Fosbein genuinely felt rich.
Meanwhile, Becky reached forward before lightly tapping Ayon’s shoulder after noticing him playing games on his phone.
“Have you booked the hotel rooms yet and settled everything?” Becky asked while raising one eyebrow.
Ayon immediately straightened his posture dramatically.
“I already settled everything,” he answered proudly. “You only need to solve the problem inside the branch.”
“Good,” Becky replied while returning to her papers again. “I’ll give you a bonus this month.”
“Nice, boss,” Ayon grinned happily before saluting her dramatically. “I’ll use the bonus to bring my girlfriend on a date to the most luxurious place in Thailand.”
“Go ahead,” Becky replied calmly. “Just don’t forget your work.”
“I know, boss.”
“Just call me Becky,” she corrected while sighing softly. “This isn’t working time and only us are here.”
“Who knows,” Ayon teased shamelessly, “maybe you’ll suddenly give me double bonus.”
Becky immediately rolled her eyes.
“I would go bankrupt if I kept giving bonuses all the time.”
