Chapter 4

And as always, I did get a detention slip.

We got to school around 9 am and Mrs. Headey was already handing out seatworks and handed me my very own ‘seatwork’ . Yup, it was my detention slip. She also told me to go out and that I can’t attend class anymore for being late.

This happened a few times before during her subject. She even told me that I’m her favorite student… Favorite student to give detention slips to. But Mrs. Headey is still nice because she only gives me slips and that’s it. No grade deduction or formal warnings.

As I was about to go to the comfort room, I saw the girl that I wanted to avoid.

She went out of her classroom, wearing a fitted tee tucked in her highwaisted pants, hair tied at the back, leaving her side bangs loose, and big hoop earrings. Now I understand why people stare at her and couldn’t take their eyes off her.

She’s a goddess.

“Hey, Amber! Staring again, huh? There’s no painting behind me this time,” She smirked.

My cheeks heated up as I avoided her eyes. “Comfort room is behind you. I need to pee,” which I really did.

“Can’t blame you for denying it. It’s like I’m a magnet,”

“Who said anything about denying?” I lied.

She’s right. She’s a magnet and my eyes were attached to her.

Dimples appeared as she let out a laugh. “Lie all you want. Go before you piss yourself here,”

Great. Dimples. Makes her even more attractive.

Biting my lips in embarrassment, I kept my head down while I passed by her. The coconut scent made me catch a glimpse of a smiling Lucy.

She shot me a wink, motioning for me to go in first.

Damn that coconut scent.

I did my business while Lucy was fixing her make up.

“You smell good. Smells like Christmas,” She acknowledged as I used the sink next to her.

I cracked a smile. My perfume’s scent was pinecones but it smelled like cinnamon.

I love Christmas with all my heart. I guess I love it since my birthday is on December 25th. So I started buying Christmas scented perfumes.

“Why are you even talking to me?” I questioned. I barely see her talking to other people asides from Lexi, Kayla, and their group of friends.

“Is it bad if I want to talk to you?” She shrugged, reapplying her lipstick.

“It’s weird.”

“Like your face?” She shot back.

“Like your face,” I retorted.

“Oh please. My face isn’t anything near weird,” She said matter of fact.

“Whatever. I’m gonna go to my next class,”

“Which we both have,” She snorted.

I forgot that we mostly have the same subjects. Isn’t that amazing? Not.

Second subject was bad as the first one. Lucy made the person next to me change seats. I even sighed out loud to show her that she’s annoying me. It didn’t bother her of course. She just smiled sweetly at me and gave me a flying kiss which I caught, dropped it on the ground and crashed it with my foot with a evil grin on my face. She just rolled her eyes at me, telling me that I’ll regret what I did and I’ll catch her flying kisses one day.

I snorted at her delusional thought. I’ll stomp all her flying kisses.

Lunch came, the canteen packed with students taking the vacant tables. Lexi arrived first at our usual table before me. I ordered burger, fries, and got an iced coffee from the vending machine.

We talked about getting a dog soon as we’ve been dreaming to have one. We’re planning to get a Dachshund. Those cute little weiners. She even said that those were the only weiners she could ever love, since she’s gay.

“Hey, guys,” Kayla greeted, taking the seat beside Lexi. “I hope you don’t mind that i brought Lucy with me,”

I spat my coffee.

Maybe she’s not a magnet. Maybe she’s a leech, since I couldn’t get rid of her.

Lucy smiled at Lexi, taking the seat beside me. Earning a groan for me, her smile widened.

“I totally don’t mind!” Lexi beamed.

“I mind,” I muttered.

Lexi shot me a glare. “She meant, she’ll mind if you don’t join us,”

“No, I meant I mind if she joins us,” That caused Lexi to slap me on the back of my head. It was so hard that my vision almost went black.

“That hurt!” I winced in pain.

“You may join us, Lucy.” Lexi insisted.

“I wouldn’t even go anywhere, even if Amber doesn’t want me here,” She winked at me.

“Leech,” I mumbled under my breath. “Why are you even here?”

“Kayla and our other friends got into an argument and it kinda went bad. So I told Kayla that I’ll be joining you guys just to make sure she’s okay,” She shared a tight lipped smile with Kayla, holding each others hand across the table.

I may not like her joining us, but it’s for Kayla. She’s also my best friend and I love her as much as I love Lexi.

“Babe, how are you doing now?” Lexi said curiously, hugging her from the side.

“I’m doing alright, thank you. We argued about cheerleading stuff and Olivia kinda went overboard and said awful things to me,” Kayla pouted. Her eyes were a bit red as if she’s been crying.

“That’s why I’ll be going home late to punish Olivia and the others after class,” Lucy said through bared teeth.

“Don’t, Lu!” Kayla gasped.

“Yeah Lu, punish her!” Lexi pushed.

“Lex!” Kayla cried, now slapping Lexi on the back of her head hard.

“Hurts, doesn’t it?” I grinned.

“Shut up!” Lexi groaned, massaging her head.

“Kay, what she said was totally uncalled for and you’re my best friend. I wouldn’t let anyone hurt you and I’ll make sure that they’ll suffer,” Lucy said sternly.

“Then how will you be able to go home?” asked Kayla.

“I can always t-“

“Perfect! Kayla can drop me off the cafe and Amber has detention. Amber can drop you off!” Lexi said excitingly.

This bitch.

My mouth hung open in surprise. There’s no way in hell I’ll give her a ride home.

“No way. I don’t want to. Nope. N-O. A big no,” I crossed my arms.

“I gave you a ride home last night!” Lucy complained.

“You insisted!”

“You still took it,” She stuck her tongue out.

“I…” I trailed off, sighing in defeat cause I didn’t know what to say. She was right.

“She’ll give you a ride, Lucy. Don’t worry about her. She can be-” Lexi pointed her finger to her temples and made circles to say that I’m crazy.

“Oh, I know she will,” She said cockily.

“Cocky much?” I raised an eyebrow at her.

She raised her hands up in surrender before going back to finish her food.

“Please tell Ms. Manuel that I won’t be able to go to work,” I ordered Lexi.

Lexi nodded. “I got you. You know Ms. Manuel. She loves us to death to the point we can leave for a month and she’s fine with it,”

I chuckled. “Don’t take that for granted. I love her too and she’s nothing but a sweetheart to us,”

“I didn’t know you guys have a job,” Lucy interjected.

“They’ve been working at Cabin Cafe for almost 2 years now. Every Wednesday and Friday,” Kayla said.

“Huh. Maybe I’ll stop by sometimes,”

“On second thought. A month leave is actually a good idea!” I thought out loud.

“On Amber’s behalf, I’m so sorry about her. I feel embarrassed for her. Her mouth can sometimes have no filter,” My best friend glared at me then sent the girl next to me a sheepish smile.

“Oh, I don’t mind. I actually find it cute,” The corner of Lucy’s mouth perked up, as she propped her elbow on the table and leaned her chin on her palm as she looked at me sweetly.

“God! You guys are so annoying!” I let out a frustrating sigh.

“You love me,” Lexi smirked.

“You’ll love me,” Lucy wiggled her eyebrows.

“And I’ll be going.” I gathered all my things, putting them in my bag. I got ready for the next subject.

“Don’t forget me later, okay Amber?” Lucy reminded.

“Oh, I will,” I got up from my seat without saying another word.

I could hear the bitches laughing, finding joy in teasing me.

I just want to fast forward this day and hope it already ends.
