Chapter 26

“And then, she had the nerve to ask me can she wear my dress. After she already took my shoes without asking. Girl, I’m telling you. You are lucky you live with your brother” Valencia sighed, finally getting to the end of the complaints about her older sister.

“Sis, I get where you’re coming from but I would rather deal with that than these junky ass boys” Lux replied, pulling the last dish out of the sink and drying it with a towel, “Lu thinks I’m some kind of slave”

“Your brother is ~”

“If you’re going to say cute, stop while you’re ahead” Lux slit her eyes at the phone.

She could hear Valencia suck her teeth, and although at the moment she couldn’t see her she knew she was doing the same goofy smile she always did when Lucious was brought into the conversation. Lux knew it wasn’t anything more than a small crush, mainly due to the fact that every time Lux invited her friend over he just had to make his company known. But Lux had one rule, no dating her friends. And while Lu definitely had an eye for the younger girl, he obeyed his sister for the time being.

“I was going to say sweet. But whatever” Valencia giggled.

“Mhhh does Zay know you think my brother is sweet?” Lux smirked.

“Now you know me and that boy aren’t anything but friends. He ruined his chance with me, remember”

“I still think you should give him one more chance.
You guys would be cute together, ya know” Lux shrugged.

“And so would you and Sasha” Valencia remarked.

Lux slit her eyes at the phone a second time, and knew her friend was trying it. Still, she couldn’t front as every time Sasha’s name was brought up she felt her stomach do a small tumble.

In fact, just the thought of them hanging out later was making her nervous and she hadn’t even told Valencia about it; She told her everything, but rekindling things with her ex was something she wanted to work through alone.

“She ruined her chance, remember?” Lux smirked, finally replying.

After putting up the last of the dishes, Lux moved onto the living room and began to straighten up the multiple pair of shoes and clothes thrown around. She continued to keep up the conversation with Valencia, the two moving on from their slick banter and talking about school or whatever else that happened to come up.

A loud sound of thunder erupted from outside, and Lux jumped to the point she almost dropped her phone.

“Damn, it is coming down out there” she said, looking through the blinds to see the rain coming down heavily.

“Yes, I feel bad for anybody stuck out there” Valencia added.

Lux agreed, and as she kept her eyes on the down pour she suddenly witnessed someone approaching the steps outside. She squinted her eyes, trying to make out the visitor that was too short to be either her brother or Don.

“Girl…I’ma have to call you back”

Before Valencia could respond, Lux hung up the call and quickly closed the blinds. A knock at the door came, and she nervously licked her lips. She gave herself a quick glance in the mirror that hung on the wall behind the couch, and rolled her eyes because she definitely didn’t look her best in the cleaning outfit.

Another knock came, and she knew it was now or never. Opening the door, she revealed Sasha soaked from the rain, her eyes red and puffy as if she had been crying the entire way there.

“Oh my God, Sasha come in” she gasped, opening the door wider.

Sasha did so, every piece of clothing dripping. She pulled back her hoodie, showing the braids that thankfully still looked good – and Lux smirked as even in distress Sasha looked attractive.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming now, I could’ve called you a lyft or gotten you a ride” Lux said, locking the door behind her.

“It was kind of..spontaneous” Sasha sniffled, wit a sad smirk.

“Are you okay?”

Sasha shrugged, and without a response she just looked down at her feet. As if she hadn’t cried enough on the way there, Sasha suddenly began to burst into a fit of tears.

Lux’s eyes widened, and while she was blind sided she rushed to Sasha’s side. She wrapped her arms around her, even as the wet clothes smashed against her she still held Sasha close. Sasha didn’t know exactly what she was crying about, she just knew she was sad. And the tears for some odd reason made more sense than any other response to the pain she felt.

A feeling of rejection, mainly. Of confusion, secondly. And a bunch of other feelings that had her weeping in the aisles of her chest.

“I’m sorry” she sniffled once more, “This is weird ~”

“It’s not weird” Lux chuckled lightly, “Hey, look at me”

She lifted Sasha’s head, the two meeting each others eyes.

“What’s going on, you can tell me”

“I will” Sasha nodded, “Can I dry off first”

“Oh right, duh” Lux laughed, “Sure. I’ll start your water if you want to take a shower, and get you some clean clothes”

“Okay, thanks”

Sasha began to remove her jacket and shoes, and Lux headed into the bathroom to start the shower water. She retrieved a rag and towel from the hallway closet, next turning to Sasha who was now down to her favorite black sports bra.

“You know those don’t give good support right?” Lux said, putting her hand out for Sasha’s wet items.

“They do” Sasha playfully rolled her eyes, “You, have triple D’s” she teased.

“I do not” Lux laughed, nudging Sasha in her arm, “Anyway, your water is on. I’ll go see what I can find”

“Cool, thanks a lot” Sasha said heading into the bathroom.

Lux turned away, “No problem”

She stressfully scratched the middle of her forehead once she entered her room, and took a deep breath to calm her nerves. Opening her eyes, she looked around to see the mess that was the entire room. She suddenly regretted saving her room for last.

“Just great” she mumbled to herself.

Lux hurriedly tided up the junky room, and after doing so pulled out a pair of sweats for Sasha to wear. She figured she should change to, as she was damp and sweaty herself.

As she pulled her shirt over her head, Sasha happened to walk in only moments later. Her eyes widened at the sight of Lux’s bare chest, and she reluctantly looked away.

“Sorry, should’ve knocked” she apologized.

“It’s okay” Lux snickered, “Not like you haven’t seen them before”

“Haven’t exactly seen them in a while” Sasha joked, still keeping her vision forward as she began to change into the outfit laid out on the bed.

“Well, now they’re gone” Lux shrugged with a laugh, her sweatshirt now fully over her head, “So, ready to talk?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be” Sasha said plopping onto the bed.
“Well, as you can see I changed my hair”

Lux tilted her head, “Oh yeah, I knew something was different”

Sasha raised her brow, and Lux giggled.

“I’m kidding, yes I noticed. I like it” she smirked.

She actually liked it more than she could put on at the moment, as she loved the hood vibe it gave her.

“Thanks” Sasha licked over her lips, “But yea, me and my mom went to the shop today. And let’s just say she wasn’t happy with the hairstyle I chose. To be fair, I broke our deal. But she wanted me to get these pin-curls, and I wasn’t down with it”

Soon as Lux heard the mention of Sasha’s mom, she now understand the whole situation without any further context. While Myda was always nice to her, it was very clear she didn’t accept Sasha as is, as she always compared the two and would even go as far as to say she wished she had a daughter like Lux.

Lux didn’t have the best relationship with her mother either, so that was one thing the two had in common.

However, Lux didn’t know how it felt to feel unwanted. And as Sasha went on and on, the undertone of resentment was heavy.

“I understand, parents suck..but look at it this way. We have 88 days left until graduation” Lux said checking her calendar.

Sasha began to snicker, and Lux connected her eyebrows.

“What?”

“You still count. You got that from me ya know ~”

“Oh here we go” Lux smiled, “That’s not the point. We’re getting closer, and soon you’ll be away at college. Away from your mom, dad, ~”

“You” Sasha added.

The two shared a look, and Sasha shrugged.

“Just saying. Out of all the people I can’t wait to get away from, you’re not one of them. I’m going to miss you”

“You are?” Lux asked, as if she didn’t already know that.

“Of course. Shit, I miss you now and it’s only been a month since you’ve been iggin me” Sasha sucked her teeth, falling back into the bed.

“I have not been~”

Sasha gave Lux a knowing look, causing her to halt her sentence.

“Maybe a little. But, you have to understand”

“I know, and I do understand. That’s why were just friends right?” Sasha said, playfully nudging her in the arm.

Lux smirked, “Right…”

Silence took over the room, and for a moment the two just stared at each other.

“But yeah…” Lux spoke up, “On a different note. No matter what your mom says, or anyone for that matter, never change. Because I love you for you”

She was well aware that she sounded like a hallmark card, however what she said was genuine.

Everything about Sasha had caused her to fall hard in such a short amount of time, and while she had messed around with girls in the past Sasha had stolen her heart like no boy or girl had the ability to. And even after hurting her, Lux could never see the bad in Sasha.

“So you still love me?” Sasha lifted the corner of her mouth, her hand running over Lux’s cheek.

“Always” Lux responded coyly.

Coming closer, she laid her head on Sasha’s chest – closing her eyes as their breathing fell into sync. Sasha nibbled at her bottom lip anxiously, knowing that what she wanted to do was a reach but she’d never know unless she tried.

“I’ll always love you too” she finally replied.

Sasha looked down at Lux and when they shared a glance she knew it was now or never. She leaned in to steal the much anticipated kiss, and to both her surprise and pleasure Lux didn’t back away. Instead she kissed her just as feverishly, as if she had been waiting to do that for who knows how long.

In fact, she had been dying to do that the moment Sasha showed up drenched in both rain and emotions. Seeing her that way reminded Lux of the fragile creature that was Sasha, and how out of all the people in the world Lux was the one she ran to in such a time of need.

“Wait, let me lock the door” Lux said, breaking her lips away.

Sasha lifted her brows, but didn’t question it. Instead she lifted the sweat shirt over her head, gesturing for Lux to come over next.

“I missed you” she whispered in between their tongue wrestle, Sasha’s hands groping every nook and cranny of Lux’s body.

“Sure you did” Lux teased, their lips still grazing each others.

“I did, really” Sasha gave her a serious look.

Lux smirked deviously, and she leaned in closer to whisper in Sasha’s ear.

“Then show me”

Sasha heard her loud and clear. It had been a while since she had been intimate, as Lux was the only girl she ever had sex with and since the two weren’t talking that also meant she had to revert back to late night x-rated videos with the volume all the way down. But this was the real thing, and she was determined to make Lux feel good even if at the moment it could only be sexually and not romantically.

It felt as though no time had passed, as Lux smelled just as fruity as she always did – her body smooth from the lotion addiction that Sasha always joked at her for having. Even so, she felt and looked like no other. Sasha gazed at her, wondering how she could ever take her for granted when she was just that beautiful – both inside and out.

“What?” Lux whispered, slightly uncomfortable from the stare.

“Nothing” Sasha tittered, biting down on her lip, “Take that off”

Lux slit her eyes but did what she was told, taking off the T-shirt while Sasha helped herself to her shorts.

When she was satisfied she laid her back onto the bed, and Lux let out a small gasp the moment she felt the coolness of Sasha’s lips below her waist. Sasha attempted to devour her, her eyes closed as she savored the taste as if Lux was truly edible. Lux rolled her eyes to the back, her eyelids fluttering as she resisted to fight the feeling in between her legs. Just as Sasha, she had been on a drought. Despite her being the reason they hadn’t made up yet, she wasn’t dating anyone in particular also meaning she hadn’t been touched in a while.

And if it hadn’t been Sasha, she wasn’t sure she would want anyone to touch her anyway, for in a short time Sasha learned to please her just right.

The way she flicked her tongue against her wetness, the slurping sound filling the room and driving Lux even more crazy. And if that hadn’t been enough, Sasha put her legs into a lock that disabled her from scooting away out of habit. Her mouth hung open, no sound escaping as she stared down at Sasha digging away at her. Her eyes hooded with pleasure, her hands clasping at the sheets beneath her.

“You must’ve…really missed me” Lux panted, finally able to get a few words out.

Sasha didn’t respond verbally – only by flipping Lux over and readjusting their position so that way Lux could ride her face. That was a move she also learned through her x-rated video binge from the past month, and she was happy that she executed it perfectly.

Sasha made sure to keep her eyes on Lux, enjoying every expression that her face twisted into that told her she was in ecstasy heaven. Lux was a moaner, and while she was always quiet at Sasha’s house she now wasn’t shy to belt out everything that came to mind.

“Mhhmm Sasha, you like the way this pussy taste don’t you? Mhh, I know you do”

Sasha couldn’t help but snicker, but kept her attention on Lux, not wanting her to come out of her trance. Truth be told just the sounds of her whimpers and declarations of love for Sasha, had Sasha in major heat as well.

However her mind was only on pleasing Lux at the moment, as if that would show her how much she really really missed her.

Feeling Lux’s legs began to give out, Sasha was satisfied – she knew she was coming to the edge and to intensify the feeling she slowed down the stroke of her tongue.

Lux’s body jerked, slowly grinding onto Sasha’s tongue as she slurped away any juices that were left.

“Shit, that was amazing” Lux panted, collapsing onto the bed.

She looked down at Sasha, and let out a laugh from the juices still on her lips.

“Come here” Lux gestured her over with a finger.
Sasha did as she was told, and Lux engulfed her lips in hers, both tasting herself and cleaning Sasha up.

“I do…love the way it tastes by the way” Sasha said, giving Lux a reassuring and devilish smirk.

Lux blushed, slightly embarrassed by a lot of her choice of words while in the moment. Unbeknownst to her Sasha wasn’t done with her, and by the end of the night she would be saying the exact same words over and over again.

Sasha reached over to the nightstand, pressing the off switch of the lamp and bringing the room into a dimness. The mood was set, and with no hesitation the two finished where they left off.

“Alright bro, thanks for the ride” Quan said hopping out of Miles’ Grand Marquis, reaching over to give him some dap and grab his bookbag.

“No problem, and remember what I said” Miles replied giving him a knowing look.

Quan nodded, knowing exactly what he was talking about. However taking out your own Father wasn’t the easiest task, and while he made the decision out of anger he still thought about it every day. But the rational side of him knew if he had to think about killing he wasn’t a killer, and should probably just stick with selling drugs.

“Be safe, my nigga” Miles said before speeding away.

Quan turned into the pizza place behind him, deciding to grab a quick bite before heading into the house. He pulled out his phone to call Sasha to see if she wanted anything, but with no answer he figured she was either studying or sleep – her two favorite things besides basketball.

“Hi, how can I help you?”

“Yeah can I get a ~” Quan halted his words
at the sight of the girl behind the counter, “I know you from somewhere”

The girl tittered, “Yeah…I know. Fifth period Biology, well..when you come”

“Rightttt. Hazel~”

Heaven” she corrected him.

“Oh … sorry” Quan shrugged, “But ummm…what’s the specials?”

He was very aware of the specials, as he ate there on the regular and that was mainly why he was surprised when seeing Heaven because definitely would’ve remembered her; especially her those chinky light eyes. Still, he went with the new customer act in order to break the ice.

“The All day specials are on the back” she smirked, flipping his menu over, “Are you looking for a single meal…or for two or more?”

“I don’t know…depends” Quan said, earning a perplexed look from Heaven, “What time do you get off?”

“Smooth” she giggled, “And I get off when the kitchen closes, so then how will you get your food?”

Quan glanced at his watch, reading the time as nine and the pizza shop didn’t close for another hour and a half. He twisted his mouth because he was starving, and while he would love a chance to get to the girl that time was a bit of a stretch.

“Well, if you give me your number I can take you somewhere else. Whenever you’re free”

Heaven gave Quan a once over, and she had to admit he was cute. She knew nothing about him except the fact that he only came to class no more than two to three times a week, never the whole five and he was spotted with a fresh pair of sneakers on with his uniform. She wasn’t naive, and could spot a drug dealer from a mile away. But she would be lying if she said his baby face and charming smile wasn’t a top seller.

“Okay” She agreed.

Quan handed her his phone, and she locked her number in before giving it back.

“I’m Q, by the way” he said putting it back into his pocket.

“Okay, Q….what can I get you?”

Quan scratched his chin that was covered in peach fuzz, as he scanned the menu. Once he finally came to a decision he ordered his selection, next taking a seat to wait.

Within the next thirty minutes he was home, and to his relief there was no one in the family room or dining room. His father had attempted to bring back dinner every night at five or six, however it just wasn’t the same as Sasha always had a game to ‘cheer for’, Quan never showed up at all and Myda and Joseph never even wanted to be in the same room. It was safe to say the family dynamic had made a serious 180, but to Quan that was a good thing.

Quan headed upstairs to Sasha’s room to see it empty, and frowned as she was usually in by now. He also began to hear the sound of sniffles coming from down the hall, and he rolled his eyes as he knew it was just his mother crying like always. He immediately tied it to Joseph, but for some reason decided to see if it had anything to do with his missing sister.

“Quan, have you seen Sasha?” Myda asked the moment she spotted her son.

Quan’s forehead wrinkled, “I was just about to ask you the same thing. What happened?”

Quan witnessed all of the photo albums on his mother’s bed, and as he glanced over he could see the collage of happy family photos.

“We got into an argument at the hair salon, and she stormed off and hasn’t been home since. She’s not answering her phone, ~”

“Because she doesn’t want to talk to you. I’m sure she’s fine” Quan shrugged.

After hearing only part of the story Quan now understood everything, and if he knew his sister she was hiding away at a friend’s house. Quan went to turn away, but before he could successfully, Myda called out after him.

“Quan wait”she sniffled, “I need to know…what am I doing wrong?”

“Seriously Mom?” Quan snickered.

“Yes, seriously. You’ve never been afraid to tell
me the truth, and today Sasha wasn’t either. She told me that she never wanted to have a relationship with me, it’s like I don’t know my own daughter”

“Because you don’t” Quan admitted, with a chuckle.
“Then tell me what I’m missing. I thought all these years she was just confused, I thought all of this tomboy stuff was a faze or an act”

“It’s definitely not an act, she has more swag than me” Quan joked, more so for his own amusement, “That’a just who she is, Mom. And if I’m being honest, she’s amazing. Everything she does is effortless, but somehow on point. She’s smart, funny, and on the court — no one, can see Sasha on the court”

“Really?” Myda asked, genuinely curious.

“Really” Quan laughed, “You had to see her at her last game. I mean — when we play”

Quan said quickly fixing his statement because although he was passionate about his words he didn’t want to get his sister in further trouble than she was already in.

“So there’s no chance of her being just an ounce of girly huh?” Myda let out a defeated breath.

“I mean, she likes purple. If that makes you feel better, but other than that you’re going to have to let that go. Sasha is perfect the way she is”

It had taken Quan a long time to see that as well, but he was glad he had opened his eyes and now the twins were able to have a tight bond for once in their lives.

“You’re right” Myda nodded, “If you hear from her, can you tell her I’m sorry and I’m not mad that she’s out this late. And to just come home so I know she’s safe”

Quan nodded, “Sure thing”

With that he left his mother to her lonesome, hoping she would eventually come to her senses before she lost Sasha forever. Kind of like she had lost him. Sure, he would always love his mother, but in his eyes any sort of relationship would forever be avoided after what she did to him. He would never forget, or forgive that.

Once he was finally into his room, Quan placed his food onto the bed and threw off his shoes. His phone began to ring, and thinking it was Sasha he immediately answered without checking.

“Yo Kiddo it’s time to bring yo ass in the house” he laughed.

“Mhhh is that an invitation” Shamira cooed through the phone.

“Funny, I thought you were Sasha” Quan rolled his eyes, “What do you want?”

“You know what I want”

“I don’t read minds” Quan retorted, biting into his cheese steak, “And if I could, I wouldn’t read yours”
Putting her on speaker, Quan sat the phone down while he continued to eat.

“Well I would damn sure read yours, because I’m confused as to how you’re just…acting like theres nothing between us. So I’ll ask again, who is she?”
Quan shook his head, his eyes rolling back at Shamira’s attempt at a reconciliation.

“You don’t know her” Quan smirked, knowing he was creating a jealous frenzy.

Besides Heaven, he still honestly hadn’t tried to get at anyone else. But that would all change soon depending on the vibe of the girl he met not too long ago – and as he sat there and ate Quan’s mind drifted to her pretty face that adorned the long passion twists.

“Well I have something to tell you, so whoever she is you’re going to have to get rid of her”

“Sure”

Quan began to hear a sound coming from his closet, and he raised his brow as he began to wonder wad Shamira really that crazy.

“So, remember that time I spent the night….”

Quan wasn’t listening to anything Shamira was saying, as he raised from his bed and went over to the closed walked in closet. He opened the door, and he raised his brows at his younger brother Ty hiding out.

“Ty, what are you ~”

He glanced down at the floor, and immediately moved back the piece of wood. Like he suspected, the gun was gone and Ty looked awfully guilty.

“What the fuck, Ty”

“Quan? Quan?” Shamira repeated through the speaker, “Are you listening. I said I’m pregnant”

The room went dead quiet, and at the moment Quan didn’t know which disaster to address first.
