Chapter 4

Just as I finish the last of my icecream. I watch as Emma comes out of the school with a guilty expression on her face.You ok Em.

Ah yeah I’m fine Henry’s teacher told me where he is. I’m shocked she knows where Henry since Regina just came out of there not getting about Henry’s whereabouts. Wait so she told you and not Regina his mother where your son’s location is.

Ok to be fair Regina stormed away before she could tell us where Henry is.Knowing Regina tendencies to walk away from conversations always having the last word.It makes sense she would leave.I get the feeling she is not too fond of Henry’s teacher.Lets just go get Henry but Emma I may not have your superpower but I know when my own sister is lying to me.So when your ready to tell what happened  for who coming out of that school looking guilty,I’ll listen with an open mind ok.

We come to a stop at the beach and see a small figure sitting by them self on a small castle.I walk up to Henry with Emma following close behind.Kid you have got to get out of the habit of running away from people, I said annoying trying to get the sand out of my crocs.Emma climbs up on the castle with him and hands him the book.You left this in the car

He silently takes the book and continues looking off in the distance.When I follow his gaze I see he’s staring at the clock tower.What’s so interesting about the clock tower that has you looking all gloomy,I said.I was hoping that when I brought Emma here that the clock would move.I don’t think time is on of my sister’s superpower kid seeing how she is always late for everything,I joked trying to get him to smile but he still looks down. How about this kid I’ll indulge you for a minute why was it so important to get Emma to bring you here,I asked.That seems to make him a little happy seeing as someone will listen to him.This town all of it is cursed because the evil queen  wanted to have her happy ended so she cast a curse bringing everyone here making them forget who they are.But snow white and Prince charming was told a prophecy that their daughter would be the key to defeating the evil queen and breaking the curse.I brought you here so you can free the people and defeat the evil queen once and for all.When the clock tower start to move again that was supposed to be when the final battle was about to begin.He looks to Emma at the end of his explanation.

Look kid I’m not fighting any battles, she said.Yes you are,you have to because its your destiny,he looks at her pleading for her to understand and accept what he’s telling her. Enough with the book,its a story none of what happens in there is real even if it was no book is going to tell me what my destiny is, she replies annoyed with the whole thing.

Emma go easy on the kid, I tell her.

No Alex he’s got his mom worried over because of some stupid fairy tale,she angrily replies to me. What if I can tell you who your parents are and why they left you,he speaks up.We both look at him curious on how an 11 year old can tell us the whereabouts on our parents when we couldn’t even find anything about them for 5 years.

Listen Henry I know your desperate for us to believe you on this but there’s no need to bring our parents into this,I tell him with angry about the fact he is steeping this low.Emma looks over at me when I say that knowing I hate when people bring up our parents. We don’t need to know there whereabouts about them.We are adults now we don’t need them in our life anymore, I replied.And we certainly don’t need to know why someone would abandon to newborn babies in the middle of nowhere left to die,Emma finished for me.

By the look on Henry face,he becomes even more determined to get us to believe him.Your parents put you in a magical wardrobe to bring you here because it was your best chance just like you did with me.

Henry there is no curse and I’m no savior but I’ll give you this out of everything you said the only real thing was that I gave you away to have your best chance and that’s not with me,she gets up from the castle and tells him we’re going.

Please don’t send me back there.You don’t know what it like with her, he shouts running after her.Please just one week,stay for one week,he says pleading to my sister.If you stay you’ll see that everything that happened in the book is real.

Henry we have to get you back to your Mom,I said.

No please let me stay,my life sucks with her.

Tell me something Henry what could suck living with a mom,who clothes,slaves away at work to put food on the table and tries to give you anything you ask of her.If she was as evil as you say she is ,she wouldn’t stay up all night worrying about where her son is.You should be grateful you know how many foster kids would probably kill to have a parent like that, I said remembering when we had a family like that only for them to throw us back after they had their own kids.

When I go quiet Emma finishes for me with tears in her eyes also remembering our times in the foster system, Henry your mom is trying her best,and sometimes it might not seem like she loves you but she does Henry or none of us would be here right now if she didn’t.

Come on lets go its getting late,Emma says.When they start walking to the car they notice I’m not following them. Aren’t you coming, Emma says to me.I think I  might just stay here for a little, I just need sometime to myself.Emma nods and tell Henry he can sit up front since I’m not going with them.I see her and Henry driving off ,I take a pack of cigarettes out of my pocket and light one. I go to sit on the spot where Emma previously was.I stay there a while just pondering on what the kid said but while I’m sitting there I hear a strange voice calling out to me but when I turn around there’s nothing there. This town just gets creepier by the minute.
