Chapter 5

After clearing my my head and text Emma to come pick me up to leave.

Alex:Can you come pick me up from the beach.I’m at Henry’s sandcastle.

Emma:Yeah sure.I got  to talk to you about something.

Alex:What do you have to take to me about

Emma:Well talk when I get there.

After reading the text I can’t help but wonder what she what’s to talk about.I see Emma’s car coming so I walk up to the parking space.I hopped into the car, What did you want to talk to me about?

Don’t get mad but I was thinking that we should stay the week.

But we told Regina that we would leave after we found Henry.

I know is just I want to make sure he’s ok plus something about this place doesn’t feel right.

I sure he’s fine Em but if you want to stay to get to know the kid some more I won’t mind.Just be prepared to face the dragon.

I’m not scared of Regina what’s the worst she can do to us.

Great you just jinxed us.

Jinx doesn’t exist Alex.

Do not remember what happened that time at the precinct 

It was a coincidence 

Whatever you say.If were staying for a week, where are we staying.

Don’t worry about that I got us a room at Granny’s inn.

Ok just so you know if we come across Regina I’m saying its your fault.

What why we both agreed to stay.

Yeah but it was your idea plus I want to stay on her good side.

Only because you want to get in her pants.

Not true. She looked at me and raised her eyebrow.What its true, just something about her I don’t know intrigues me

OK but don’t drop your guard so easily around,I know how you get when something catches your eye.I rolled my eyes at her.I know Emma but I feel like I don’t that maybe she won’t like you know who.

Just don’t what you to get hurt. 

You can’t always protect me Em.I turned to the window wanting to be done with this conversation.

I know but I’m always going to try look out for you.

We arrived at the inn and its looks like no one has been here for years.Are you sure this place is still open.

Yes Alex don’t worry about it, I got your bags from the trunk so they are on your side of the room.She opens the door to our room and I can instantly tell we have been the only people to book a room in a while. I walk to my bags to take out my pajamas and right out the window I see that the clock changed from 8:15 to 8:16.Hey Em when did the time change.She comes to join me looking out the window.Huh weird they probably fixed it or something.Anyways hurry up and shower but you better not use all the hot water.

I can’t help but think that maybe what Henry was saying was true but that would be insane right?

NEXT DAY

I’m dreaming about the mayor when I hear some knocking at the door. Em are expecting anyone.

I don’t think so its probably the Inn lady.Can you get it I need to finish getting dressed.

But I’m not fully dressed either.

Yeah but your in briefs and a t-shirt while I’m in my underwear and tank which one of us is better suited to open the door.Without even waiting for me to reply she goes into the bathroom to put on some clothes.

Ugh you don’t always have to be a smartass. I go open the door to may surprise behold the  woman of my dreams is standing right there smiling at me. Did you know the honey crisp tree is the most vigorous and hardy of all apple trees? I give her a confused look, I’m not going to lie its pretty weird for her to come over here unexpected but its also pretty cute that she knows so much about apples.I was going to answer but she jumps to another fact before I can.It can survive temperatures as low as 40 below and keep growing.It can weather any storm.I have one that I’ve tended to since I was a little girl and to this day I have yet to taste anything more delicious than the fruit it offers.Um thanks I guess but what are you doing here not saying your not welcome I mean who can go wherever you like cause your the mayor and I’m rambling. I look away embarrassed about it.Don’t worry dear its was rather amusing how I can fluster you so easily.I came here to offer you these for your drive back home.Before I say anything Emma comes to the door .Well sorry to say Madam mayor but we won’t need them.Well I want some if a beautiful woman offers you food you take it,I think to myself.

I not sure that’s a good idea dear.He already has enough issues as it is I don’t need you confusing him.

With all due respect Madam Mayor the fact that you have no threatened me twice in the last 12 hours make me want to stay more.There fake politeness towards each other is honestly ridiculous and way to early for I haven’t even had breakfast yet.

When were apples ever a threat

I can read between the lines.I just want to make sure Henry’s ok

He’s fine dear not that it is any of your concern anymore.All he’s problems will be taken care of.

By therapy , take my advice Miss Swan only one of us knows what best for Henry. I mean she has a point there since she has been his mother for 10 years but I’m not going to get in between them.I go to reach for an apple because If I don’t eat something in the next few minutes I’m literally going to die.

Yeah.I’m starting to think your’re right about that.She sees be going for the apple and gives me a glare I pout and put my hand down.

Its time for you to go dear.

Or what? Regina steps closer, I wish she would enter my personal space like that.Don’t underestimate me, Miss Swan.You have no idea what I’m capable of.The mayor leaves but not without saying nice pants dear. Me and Emma look down and see that the comment was directed towards me seeing as how I completely forgot that I’m  not wearing any pants.

Damn it why do I always embarrass myself in front of her.Emma laughs at me, Maybe because you always forget stuff when it comes to her.

Whatever just lets get some food before I keel over and die.

After breakfast I decided I was going to hang out with Ingrid since I promised her I would visit her.I walk down to the ice cream parlor and open up the door, to see Ingrid at the counter. Oh Hi Alex I didn’t know you where going to stay in town a little bit longer.

Yeah my sister decided she wanted to spend a few more days.I can’t help but think about Emma and Regina’s conversation.Why are they both acting like this if they both cared about Henry they could just get along for him.Are you ok Alex you look like something is bothering you.

It’s nothing don’t worry about it.

Are you sure I know we just met but it doesn’t hurt to have an open ear.I think about I get this mothering feeling from Ingrid like I could tell her anything but its not place to speak about Emma’s business.Yeah I’m sure but thinks for asking.

Well if your alright is there anything I can get you.

I was wondering if there is anything fun to do around here.

Well  we have the arcade,the beach,the park that’s pretty much it but there is a library but been closed for a while.

I guess I check out the arcade since I was at the beach yesterday ,I thanked her I walked around to look for the arcade

Later That Day (I’m too lazy)

I spent most of the day at the arcade but I did go to the park for a little. I decided to head back to the inn for some dinner since it was getting kind of late.On my way to the inn I see the mayor  closing up her office.I make my way towards her, hey Regina.

Hello Miss Swan as lovely as it would be to chat with you.I can hear the sarcasm in her voice. I have child waiting at home for me.She leaves me standing there to walk to her car.

Wait Regina,I run to catch up to her. You can’t be upset with me, I didn’t know Emma was going to decide to stay a few days.I mean wouldn’t be good for both of them if they got to know each other .By the expression on her face I can see I said the wrong thing.

I have every right to be mad at you.You said you would leave right after you helped me find Henry but here we are , she angrily shouts at me.

But-she interrupts me.

Not only have you lied your sister thinks she can just swoop in and take Henry away from me.Ever since you swans came here my son thinks I’m no longer his Mother. I can see behind those beautiful guarded brown eyes is a woman scared that everything she loves will be taken from her.

Look Regina I didn’t lie to you yesterday , I only found out about us staying last night.Emma isn’t trying to take Henry away from you even though this morning that’s what it seemed like.It just that Emma didn’t really have a choice in the matter when it came to giving up Henry, I say sadly remembering that fateful day.

What do you mean she didn’t have a choice in the matter.

Don’t tell Emma I told you this but her old boyfriend Henry’s father framed her for a crime she didn’t commit.She gave me a spectacle look.Don’t give me that I know Emma isn’t someone in your good books but you can’t judge based on her actions, everyone has a reason for the things they do.Emma wasn’t a saint back then but I knew she wouldn’t steal since she was planning on helping me with my state of health that day.I always knew Neal was bad news but Emma was to blinded by so call love to believe that he would never betray her love for him. When they arrested her she was so devastated by the betray and the fact that she would be having a kid in prison. So she decided that when Henry was born she would give him up for adoption since she knew that she couldn’t give him a proper childhood where she was.After I finish our story I can see she’s thinking about it.

Fine even-though I do not like it I will allow Miss Swan to see Henry but only on my conditions.

Thank you Regina, I smile at her grateful she allowing Emma this chance.

But I have to ask dear is everything alright now with your health, she asked concerned.

Yes I got some help during the time Em was locked up. So are we good now, I ask her hoping that we could try be friends even if it is for a short time.

Yes we are good but if I catch your sister trying to take Henry from me I will not take it lightly, she warns me.

You have my word Regina we will not come between you and Henry.I give her my pinky jokingly.I can see a hint of a smile on that face. Honestly Alex you really do act like a child,but she locks her pinky with mine anyway.

Now I do must get home to Henry, she gets into her car.

I will see you around before I leave, I ask her.

Maybe, with that she drives off home.
