Chapter 30
Ready to hop on the plane?
Clarissa PoV:
The last week passed by quickly and soon I was greeted by a stressed out Leonora. “Calm down, my Dear. You don’t need to stress this much.” “But what if I forget something?” I chuckled amused, sitting on her bed. She was rushing around the apartment, picking up things only to put them back down seconds later.
“If you do I’ll just buy you it new, okay? Now please calm down. You didn’t even great me with a kiss.” She sighed and stopped, walking over to me. “Sorry. I was just… I never go somewhere when I have vacation.” I smiled into the kiss as she leaned down. Her hands cupped my face softly, as if she was scared she could hurt me.
“I understand that, trust me. But you can relax. Even if you forget something, we can always buy it there.” She nodded slowly, before she sat down next to me on the bed. “Where are we going you said?” “Eleuthera in the Bahamas. A sweet little island with not that much tourism. You will love it, I promise.”
She leaned her head against my shoulder. “Sounds like a lot of sun and many sunburns for me,” her soft voice mumbled. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure there is sunscreen everywhere on your body. I’ll massage it in everywhere.” The soft red blush on her face was cute. You could say something like this and she would just go completely shy.
“Just grab the last few things you need so we can go. We have around four hours of flight. Depending the weather of course.” I could hear her sigh, before she got up and started to roam around the apartment again. “And what do we do on the flight?” “How does cuddles and movies sound?” She smiled, which was enough answer for me.
Watching her packing up the last things, I called up Nigel. Hand in hand we walked downstairs, not before saying good bye to the cats of course. I could swear she shed a tear, but of course she denied it. Nigel carried her luggae down to the car.
The drive felt like seconds and we soon came to the airport. “I never flew before,” she whispered to me as we drove towars my plane. “Are you scared?” I looked at her, trying not to chuckle as I saw the small nod. “You won’t notice anything, I promise. And even if you do, you can just cuddle up to me really tight and I promise everything will be fine.” She seemed a bit more relaxed, still there was a sligh hint of worry in those eyes.
When the car stopped and we got out, I took a deep breath. The air in Detroit wasn’t the best and so I always enjoyed to take one last deep breath before smelling the fresh air of any other place I am visiting. Leonora on the other hand stood there like a lost child. If it was only fea from flying or something else, I couldn’t tell.
“Ready to go in?” “I… I don’t know. I feel weird.” Carefully, I placed my hand onto her back. “Vomiting kind of weird or…?” She nodded fast. “I feel like. I can’t breath…” Pulling her into my arms, I kissed her forehead softly. “It’s okay, my Dear. Don’t worry. I won’t pressure you.” Her hands grabbed my clothes tightly, as if she was scared I would just leave her.
“Just listen to my voice. My heartbeat. And try to relax, okay?” She nodded a bit hesitantly. Nigel finished putting our luggage into the plane, before he wished us some great vacation and left. By now, Leonora had calmed down a bit, her grip on my clothes not as tight anymore.
“Ready to hop on the plane or do you still need a minute?” “No… No, I think I… I am good. Let’s get this over with. I want my movies… and the cuddles.” I smiled and pulled her closer for a soft kiss. She got into the plane first, I followed. The pilot greeted us and I gave him the okay to start.
“See that? A big bed all for us.” Leonora didn’t waste any time with sitting down and taking off her jacket and shoes. Watching her, I chuckled and did the same. She looked adorable cuddled up there, her hands extended towards me. I sat down on the bed, before I cuddled up into her.
“And?” “I think this won’t be as bad as I imagined it.” I gave her another kiss, as I nodded. “Like I told you. Now relax, my Dear.” My finger started to run through her hair, making her shiver a bit. Her face was nuzzled into my neck, her breathing slow and I might even dare to say it was relaxed.
“Any wishes for the movie?” “Can we watch Carol?” She moved a bit, pulling the big, soft blanket more over us. “Carol, hm? We can do that.” I grabbed the remote and pressed a button, letting the canvas roll down. Looking through the movies, I soon found what Leonora wanted to watch and put it on.
“I don’t think I ever saw that movie.” “What? You are older than me.” “What is that supposed to mean?” To that she stood quiet for a while. “Nothing… Just, just watch.” I looked down at her, before I chuckled. My fingers started to run up and down her arm, as the movie started to play.
The plane was soon in the air and you could feel the difference a bit. Leonora cuddled harder into me, as if this bed was the only thing keeping her from falling to the ground way down below. I couldn’t really judge her for this. The first time I flew was the same for me. It was always scary. This situation was just like the elevator rides for me.
But I think she soon lost the fear. As we broke through the clouds, the sun painted everything in a nice orange, yellow and red. Her eyes glowed softly in the light as she sat up and looked outside the window. “Wow…” “Amazing, right?” She nodded slowly, seemingly lost in the sight before her. I couldn’t help but smile, concentrating back onto the canvas to watch the movie.
