Chapter 31
Dedicated to 5eleven and her girlfriend who have showed me once again why we fight for the ones we love
Chapter Thirty-one
Alex – Some Things Are Not Meant To Be
The way in which she looked at me when telling her that I feel something for Taylor gives me the impression that our relationship is hanging by a very thin string.
‘And judging by her body language, you are not getting any tonight.’ And here I thought you finally decided to be mad at me for a long time and not speak to me. ‘This sucks, since you haven’t even ‘sealed the deal’ to begin with.’ You know the reason behind that. ‘This was supposed to be the night. The night I have been waiting for at least 3 months. Why did you have to ruin it? Everything was great between us. She was perfection and her flaws revolved around dating you.’ I did not intend for this to happen. You’re blaming me for all this, when both damn girls have their part in all this mess.
A loud groan followed by a very strong pain in my right cheek as my head is slightly turned to the side makes me snap my attention back to Kylie. As I shake my head I see Kylie lifting her arms in the air frustration written in her every feature. My attention then goes to the burning pain in my cheek again nothing really making sense.
Did she just slap me? ‘You deserved it.’
“Will you fucking stop talking to yourself for a second, just one second and pay attention?” At this point she is beyond annoyed with me and has my undivided attention.
“What is it exactly that you want from me?” I take a step towards her making her take a step back away from me.
“I could have lied and told you that Taylor is just a girl and she means nothing, but that is not fair to either her or you. I have been faithful to you this entire time, not because I was forced to but because up until she kissed me, you were the only girl I ever saw myself with.”
The crowd around us was looking between Kylie and me as our voices escalated. By the way the crowd is divided; Kylie seemed to have the most support by our classmates.
“Why couldn’t you say this earlier? At least I would have been out of the picture so you could be with your precious Taylor and I could be with someone who truly does love me.”
“Have you even been listening to anything I’ve been telling you? I love you more than life itself. You are my first love. You are the person I see myself with for the rest of my life. What I need you to understand is that I felt something for Taylor when she kissed me and when she’s around she does something to me that I thought was only possible when you are around me.”
Just as a tear is about to escape Kylie’s eyes I see Taylor running straight for me. In the reflection of her eyes I see a man standing holding a gun. Her eyes tell me to run, to watch out. Just before I can react to anything the figure pulls the trigger sending a bullet straight into my direction.
My heart stops as soon as I realize what Taylor just did. Her eyes close as the bullet hits her instead of me. She hits the floor a few feet away from me as I just stand there watching as she clutches her side and grits her teeth.
As the shock begins to fade away, I immediately run to Taylor grabbing my dress and kicking my heels to the side when they begin to slow me down. Taylor turns on her back and tries not to scream out in pain.
“Why did you have to be the hero, huh?” I ask her positioning her body on my lap as gently as I possibly can. I take her hand away and apply pressure with my hand on her abdomen to prevent the loss of too much blood. As soon as she feels the pressure on her lower stomach her breath catches and she inhales very sharply. Her expression quickly changes when turning and looking into my eyes her eyebrows slightly creasing
“Is that the only word that you know, why?”
She laughs when I give her a glare of my own but stops herself when the pain becomes too unbearable. My instincts tell me to hug her and take away all of her pain, but that would only add so much more pain than what she is under.
“I couldn’t let anything happen to you, not while I could do something about it.” She cups my face leaving a trace of red liquid on my cheek. “I couldn’t just stand there and let you get hurt. I would rather die than let anything bad happen to you.” Hot tears start to travel down my checks as I put my hand on top of hers and kiss her tender hand. Taylor then rubs my check and passes her thumb on my lip smiling a little as she also feels the sparks. I can taste her blood but pay no attention to such detail.
“Taylor!” The pricing voice brought tears to her eyes as she recognized who is calling for her. She manages to express a faint smile, but proves to be a waist of much needed energy.
“Hey bro, what you been up to?”
Anthony rolls his eyes but cannot contain his shaking hands as he reaches for his twin sister.
“C’mon Bro, we all know how this is going to end. So how about we just save the tears huh?” Taylor let’s go of my cheek and holds her brothers hand. She squeezes it when Anthony starts to shake his head and his tears fall uncontrollably.
“Don’t you dare cry for me, you hear me? Wipe your damn tears off. We Barnes are built tough and out of the best steel in the market.”
“Taylor please, please hang on. I can’t live without you ruining my life.”
Taylor laughs lightly and manages to hit Anthony pretty hard on the shoulder. “Now you are just being dramatic, bro.”
“Taylor you fricking little slut you cannot die on me.” everyone turns to Brittany as she emerges from the crowd and runs to Taylor who is smiling from all the corners of her mouth. “Come on dude, I mean you got to dance with the girl of your dreams, and she even kissed you! You managed all of that in just one night. Screw your 6 month plan you did it in half the time.” Brittany takes Anthony’s place next to her best friend.
“I’mma miss you kid.”
“No, no, no, no. You don’t get the luxury of leaving me. I will not let you. I forbid you to die. I forbid you to leave me here alone without my best friend.” Brittany brakes down and held onto Taylor.
“Brit will stop being such a drama queen and listen to me?” Taylor did not allow her best friend to grieve. She wipes Brittany’s face delicately and makes her look right into her eyes.
“Take care of him for me will you.” Taylor nods her over to Anthony who is being held on his feet by Kylie and one of his best friends, Tony. Brittany slowly nods her head as she sees Taylor’s eyes slowly closing.
“Hey Taylor, before you give up, promise me something, will you?” Taylor keeps her eyes open using all of the energy she has left. If she could speak she would respond but even keeping her eyes open is pushing it at this point.
“Promise that you won’t be as nice as you were in this lifetime. Promise me that you will fight for your girl and make your move on her, don’t wait fucking 6 months to tell her how you feel.” Taylor smiles and looks at me her smile increasing by the second.
“Can I kiss you?” Taylor asks me quietly.
I shake my head from side to side.
“I had to give it a shot.” Her face slowly falls as she positions her head back on my lap as if waiting for death to take her.
“You can’t kiss me because I’m covered in your blood.” I take my dress and soak it with the bottled water someone had gotten Taylor. Rapidly I take the blood out of my face and most importantly my lips.
“There, now you can experience for yourself why I’m such a great catch and why girls can’t get enough of me. After all, you are the president of my oh so infamous fan club.” I give her my best smirk making some color return to her cheeks and a vibrant laugh fill the quiet room.
“God you are so full of sh-“
Her sentence is cut short as she puts her hand on my neck deepening the kiss. Her eyes close as her lips move slowly in sync with mine. “You know for this being your first time kissing a girl, you sure do know how to use that tongue of yours?”
Her embarrassment cannot be contained. Her checks turn bright pink and she looks away to Brittany who is with her mouth open.
“What’s wrong?” Taylor asks her.
“I just never pictured you with an actual girl before. You seemed so creepy when talking about her, always about Alexandria with you, I just always believed she was a fantasy of yours, but seeing how happy you are with a girl totally just made me realize that my best friend is actually pretty gay.”
No one in the room can stop from laughing at Brittany and her comment. Taylor herself can’t stop herself from chuckling and shaking her head at idiot friend.
“I would hate to interrupt this… emotional moment but I think I hear sirens so, if you don’t mind I would like to do what I came to do before ‘Blondie’ here decided to play the hero card.”
He waves the gun around scaring the life out of the people he points the end of the barrel to. Some scream and jump out of the way while some hide behind others.
A loud scream carries around the room when he points it at Tamara who is pulled out of the way by her boyfriend Marcus.
“Would you look at that? It seems we have another hero among us.” Uncle goes up to him and begins to poke him with the gun in various places where just one bullet will take his life.
Marcus lifts his head up and shields Tamara with his own body showing little to no emotion as the gun slides down his cheek. When Tamara tries to get in the way of the gun and her loved one, Marcus simply pushes her back with his muscular arm not even needing much effort to maintain her in place.
“See what I mean? We have a true hero in the building.” Uncle laughs cold heartily and stops himself abruptly to point the gun into Marcus’s leg and pulls the trigger probably ending his football career. Many people scream as the bang travels each ear except for Marcus who is still shielding Tamara showing no emotion of pain.
Taylor seems to be unconscious as I lay her down on the floor and kiss her forehead. I place my fingers on her wrist and feel a light pulse. I Smile at her and whisper for her to hold on also asking Anthony to take my place next to her. I rip a piece off the dress and approach Marcus tying the cloth it around his legs and take him to the corner with Tamara’s help.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this ‘sobrina’.” His voice is loud and clear. Everyone stays in place not daring to move or even breathe as he still waves his gun in the air scaring the living daylights at the individuals he points to.
“Leave them out of this, you only have four bullets left and I doubt one is going to do the trick, ‘tio’.” From the corner of my eye I see Kylie wanting to move but I turn to her and look at her right in the eyes begging her to stay where she’s at.
“So that is your precious Kylie. Damn kid, you did well. When I heard that my little sobrina was a marimacha, I never would have thought that you would have such a beautiful girl by your side.” He points the gun at Kylie but I step right in front of her shielding her from harm.
“Would you look at that? We have yet another hero in our hands. But we all know what happens to heroes around here, now don’t we?” His voice projects through the entire room spreading to Kylie’s ears who somehow manage to get passed me and get in between the gun and I.
“What do you want?” She asks him her head held high and her fear not showing.
“I want revenge.” He says getting ready to pull the trigger.
~~~~~ Kylie – Please Don’t Leave Me ~~~~
The sound of the 4 shots could be heard a mile away. Kylie’s ears rang from the incredible sound, causing her to close her eyes and cover her ears as she was on the floor. She gritted her teeth and maneuvered her body into a fatal position trying to minimize the loud painful noise.
Everything was still; nobody moved or made a sound. The ringing in everyone’s ears finally settled down after a few seconds. Everything became clear to Kylie after uncovering her eyes: she could not protect Alexandria.
“Alex!” As Kylie brought herself up saw Alex bent forward holding her stomach while also holding on the edge of the staircase for support. Blood could be seen absorbing the lighter red of the fabric. Alex took her now bloody hand off the wound and looked at it not fully grasping the fact that she has indeed been shot.
Kylie saw Alex’s body fall to the ground and wasted no time to go to her. Alex’s breathing comes in short rigged breaths as she lay in Kylie’s lap. The girl grabs her stomach in pain as she inhales a yet another sharp breath. No screams came out of her mouth; instead she grits her teeth and begins to close her eyes. The strength that her girl possesses never seems to stop amazing Kylie.
“Alex, baby hold on please! baby please.” Kylie didn’t know what to do. Alex lay there in her arms, shot four times right before her eyes. She cried hysterically begging for her to hang on. Blood was now on Kylie’s hands as well as on her dress and scattered all over the floor around them.
Alex was losing so much blood.
“I love you more.” Alex’s voice barely came out as a whisper, but Kylie heard it loud and clear. She put a finger on Alex’s lips begging her not to use her energies.
“Please Alex don’t leave me.” Kylie begged. Alex’s eyes were slowly closing again. Kylie hugged her tighter crying even louder. Tears rolled down her cheeks while Alex fought to stay awake. She didn’t care if Alex felt something for another girl nor that she had kissed her. She only cared about her girl living so they could fight about it.
Anthony looks over at his friends and then looks over at the man with the gun and tells them to tackle him. They do as they are told and take the man to the ground not allowing him to move an inch. With his hands behind his back the man looks at Kylie holding Alex with a huge grin on his face clearly proud of all the pain he has caused today in just one single night.
“Kylie, will you marry me?” Kylie stops hugging Alex and brings her body back down to where she can see her face. The girls face is still pale, drained from any color. Her eyes are teary and her lips red from the blood. Kylie remembered her girl when she was on top of her kissing the life out of Kylie’s body and then looked at the same girl who is now in her arms, as fragile as she has ever seen her.
It felt to Kylie like this was Alex’s way of saying goodbye.
“Alexandria please don’t do this. You’ll live. We will have our own soccer team. We will buy you that damn minivan so we can take them to their practices. I’ll marry you in Hawaii on the beach with a beautiful sunset. You will have your orange wedding. Please Alex hold on.” Kylie prayed for a miracle. Her entire being praying that Alex live, that the girl would get tosee the sunset and sunrise for many years to come.
Students started to gathered around them. Some were crying silently watching the scene in front of them. Some were holding hands praying. Marcus and Tamara were holding hands crying silently thankful that they were alive. Anthony still held his sisters hand and was held by Samantha who did not allow him to break down.
“Kylie, will you be my wife?” Alex said louder with great effort. Kylie holds her rocking their bodies back and forth.
“Yes baby I’ll marry you in a heartbeat.” Kylie whispers into Alex’s ear softly. Alex instantly smiles as Kylie brings her back down. The smile is quite weak, nothing like the full blown smiles Kylie was used to, but it still managed to melt Kylie with its power. This particular smile represented something Kylie did not want to think about, something she would never accept; Alex was slowly dying in her arms.
“I love you so much Kylie. Tell them I love them and that I’m sorry I couldn’t say goodbye.”
Kylie hugged Alex tighter. The words broke her heart into a million pieces. She will see Rachael and Mike when she’s better, because they will get through this.
“You can tell them when you get better.” Kylie says with determination.
Kylie would switch with Alex in a split second if it were up to her. Alex was not going to die. The girl had made her the happiest girl in the world. She did not deserve to be on the floor dying, not her beautiful angel, not the love of her life.
“Kylie do you remember the day we met?” the question was silly to Kylie. Of course she remembers! That was the day her whole life changed. That was the day she had fallen in love with the most amazing person in the world.
“of course baby. That’s the day I fell for the most beautiful girl God could ever give me the chance to meet.” Kylie looked into the eyes that she loved to lose herself in. A faint smile started to creep into both their faces.
“You saved me. That day in the park, you saved me. I was saved by a woman that day. A woman who stole my heart the instant I looked into her incredible mesmerizing blue eyes.” Kylie caressed Alex’s soft cheek. She could easily say the same thing about those big brown eyes.
“Well, that was the day that a woman also saved me. If it weren’t for her, than I would have gone crazy.” Kylie said squeezing the girls’ hand.
“Who is she? I swear I’ll beat her ass if I ever see her.” Alex joked. Kylie couldn’t help but laugh.
“Alex, you saved me dummy. You are the only woman I love. You are the one person I can’t live without.”
looking into those brown eyes Kylie leaned in and kissed her girl. Alex’s lips were soft and Kylie could taste the blood on them, but she didn’t mind, they still have the same effect on her, which will never change.
“Promise me you’ll be happy. Promise me that you will not cry over me forever.” Kylie didn’t want to hear Alex talk like that anymore. She kissed her rougher not letting Alex continue. The words coming out Alex’s mouth were too much for her.
This was not goodbye.
“you are making it very hard for me to die right now.” Kylie glared at Alex with all her might. There is no way in hell Alex is going to die. Not today. Not ever.
“Alexandria Santiago now you listen to me and you listen well, you die on me and I swear that I’ll follow your ass to the deepest depths of hell and kick the crap out of you. I’ll hunt you down, You hear me?!” Kylie grabbed Alex by her dress and slightly shook her.
Alex grinned making her dimples stand out. That was enough to make Kylie smile and kiss her girl.
“ma’am yes ma’am!” Alex tried to salute but the pain was too much. Alex then suddenly pushed Kylie out of the way and coughed blood onto the already bloody floor. She wiped her mouth and apologized to Kylie.
A few seconds passed of pure silence. The only sounds came from the short uneven breaths that escaped Alex’s mouth.
“Kylie, Will you sing for me?” Alex asked after a few seconds of lying still in Kylie’s lap. Kylie looked at the girl confused. Alex wanted her to sing? Right now, under these circumstances?
“I want you to sing woman!” Alex demanded when Kylie just stared at her. A chuckle escaped Kylie’s lips. The girl will never change.
“And what would Miss Alexandria Santiago like me to sing?” Kylie asked amused.
“I want you to first put this on,” Alex shuffled in Kylie’s arms trying to get something out of the pocket the dress provided her with.. Kylie gasped as she saw the ring. It was beautiful, a simple ring with a small yet perfect diamond in the center. Kylie held out her hand as Alex slid the ring into her finger. “Now I want you, Miss Santiago cause you are going to take my name, to sing a special song. I want my wife to sing-” Alex motioned Kylie to get closer with one finger. Not missing a beat, Kylie bent down and listened to Alex as she whispered in her ear.
“I really hope your ears are prepared for this.” Kylie cleared her throat and went over the words in her head.
The song was definitely going to be a challenge, but if Alex wanted her to sing that particular song, then she is going to sing the song no matter what.
“I entered the room
Sat by your bed all through the night
I watched your daily fight
I hardly knew
The pain was almost more than I could bear
And still I hear
Your last words to me.”
Her voice was heard all around the room. No one spoke and no one moved they just stood there listening. Kylie didn’t mind them; she just looked and sang to Alex. No one else mattered but the girl who was in her arms.
Kylie hated herself for not making this better. She hated that she couldn’t take the pain away. She hated that she couldn’t even take the girl’s bad dreams away. She hated that their time could almost be up and there was so much that she did not know about the girl who had just proposed to her.
Kylie closed her eyes not wanting to continue the song. The words were too much for her. Alex saw this and smiled a pained smile.
“Heaven is a place nearby
So I won’t be so far away.
And if you try and look for me
Maybe you’ll find me someday.
Heaven is a place nearby
So there’s no need to say goodbye
I’m telling you not to cry
I’ll always be by your side.”
Tears were rolling down Kylie’s eyes. The girl had changed that one word not asking but telling her not to cry. She shook her head no. This is not happening. This is all a bad dream. Her Alex was not dying.
Alex put her hands on Kylie’s face urging her to continue. Although she didn’t want to, Kylie cleared her throat again and sang the painful song.
“You just faded away
You spread your wings you had flown
Away to something unknown
Wish I could bring you back
You’re always on my mind
About to tear myself apart
You have your special place in my heart always.”
Alex wiped Kylie tears away. They looked into each others eyes as they both began to sing together.
“heaven is a place nearby
So I won’t be so far away.
And if you try and look for me
Maybe you’ll find me someday.
Heaven is a place nearby
So there’s no need to say goodbye
I’m telling you not to cry
I’ll always be by your side.
And even when I go to sleep
I still can hear your voice
And those words
I never will forget”
Kylie’s voice broke several times. she couldn’t do it. Alex was asking too much. Kylie can’t let her go. Alex is her life; there is no life without her.
“I love you to the moon and back.” Alex whispers touching Kylie’s cheek and caressing her lips.
“The ambulances are here!” someone yelled pointing outside where several ambulances, police cars, and even fire trucks were parking. Paramedics rushed in with their equipment at hand and a gurney. They shouted commands at each other rushing to where the three wounded students were at.
Everybody moved out of the way when the paramedics passed them letting them do their job.
“Did you hear that baby? The medics are here. Everything is going to be OK.” Kylie looked at Alex who was once again closing her eyes.
The medics came to them asking Kylie to move so they could attend Alex, which she did without letting go of Alex’s hand. She could not let her go, not like this.
Everything around her was chaotic. Shouts and screams of pain came from everywhere around her. No one could take it anymore. They all lost something important to them. Kylie saw how the medics treated Alex trying to stabilize her while she was holding Alex’s hand. Kylie somehow avoided getting in the way of the medics.
Once outside everybody was staring at them. People closed their eyes sending their prayers. Some clapped as they passed them by. Soon everybody was clapping for the girl who had saved the day and allowed them to live another day.
“Are you family?” the medic turned to Kylie and asked. Kylie looked at the man and shook her head no.
“Then I’m sorry but-” the man did not have the opportunity to continue, Alex tried to move but she was strapped to the gurney with a neck brace. She gave up and managed to glare at the man.
“She stays with me. She is my fiancé and the love of my life. She. Stays. With. Me.” Alex squeezed Kylie’s hand tighter. The words were what Kylie both wanted and desperately needed to hear. Tears began to fall again at the words Alex had said. Their love was mutual.
“Okay come on lets go.” the medics said carrying Alex inside the ambulance rapidly and effectively careful not to knock anything down in the small cramp space. Kylie had to let go of Alex’s hand as she got in the ambulance with the help of the medic.
The ride to the hospital was painful. Kylie had seen the TV shows, she had seen the movies, but she had never in a million years expected to hear the continuous beep the machine made indicating that they were losing Alex. The medics were doing everything possible to bring her back, but Alex was dying. The green line continued to go flat across the screen.
“Come on Alex. Come on, you don’t want to leave this pretty lady behind. Come on Alex you can do this.” the medic pushed Alex’s chest once more and breathed air into her body. CPR was not working. The machine still had that continuous flat line running through it. Kylie cried harder. Her love might not make it. Alex might die any second. Kylie is not ready. She is not ready to let Alex go.
“She’s back!” Kylie closed her eyes and breathed again. Alex was alive. She held on for a while longer. But for how long?
Alex stared into Kylie’s eyes the rest of the ride to the hospital. Kylie didn’t want to think about the what if’s. There were too many of them. She just stared at those beautiful eyes that held onto her own.
Alex was the one she wanted. Alex was the one she loved. Alex was going to be the mother of her children no matter what. Alex was not going to die. Not today, not ever.
The ambulance stopped and the doors were opened immediately. The doctors were outside waiting for them. The medics quickly got out explaining Alex’s condition.
They took Alex out of the ambulance carefully. Kylie knew they had to break apart. Alex turned in every direction desperately looking for Kylie since they were no longer holding hands. Kylie ran to her side once again grabbing her hand as they ran towards the hospital entrance.
“Move move!” The doctors yelled. The inside of the hospital was a mess. There were bodies of injured people everywhere both in the halls and in the rooms. Some patients were shouting in pain and agony. Some were lying unconscious while others were begging for someone to make pain stop.
Doctors were running everywhere. Some came while others went. The doors opening and closing constantly. Everyone just barely avoiding running into each other as they went through the tight spaces.
“Honey I need you to let her hand go. We have to take her to the ER. We need to operate and we need to it now.” A doctor told Kylie. Kylie turned to the doctor and pleaded. “please, please save her.” her eyes once again filled with tears.
“we will do everything in our power to save her, just please let us take her.” the doctors stooped at the door waiting for the girls to let go. Alex would not let go of Kylie’s hand.
“baby please let go.” Kylie begged. Alex shook her head and tightened the hold on Kylie’s hand.
“Kylie, I’m scared.” the words ripped Kylie apart. Alex has never admitted to being scared. It just made the whole situation ten times worst, it made everything real.
“Alex I’ll be right here when you wake up. I promise.” Their lips touched for one last time. It lasted seconds. Enough for a reassurance yet never enough for neither of them. “I love you more than life itself.” Kylie whispered into Alex’s lips.
The doctors wasted no time; they pushed Alex away into the doors as soon as the embrace between the girls was over.
Kylie went to a nearest wall and leaned on it. Anything can happened now. Alex might or might not make it. The bullets may or may not have hit vital organs. So many scenarios played inside her head.
Kylie waited and waited for something, anything. Anything that assures her that Alex made it. But the seconds turned to minutes. The minutes turned to hours.
Kylie heard the monitors go off and on. She could hear the continuous beep. Kylie banged her head on the wall trying to mute the sound. The sound can only mean one thing. The one thing she could not take.
She slowly let her body fall to the ground. Bringing her knees to her chest, Kylie rocked her body back and forth. She ran her bloody hands through her already messy hair. She didn’t know what to do. There was nothing she could do, she was impotent.
The machine beeped a steady beep again. Relief filled Kylie’s entire body and soul. Just maybe, Alex would make it. God cannot take her. Not yet.
Kylie found herself constantly playing with the ring. A smile appears on her delicate face as she begins to imagine their life together. Kids running around their yard playing with a soccer ball. Kylie and Alex laying on the beach watching the sun set before their eyes.
Nurses and various people came to Kylie asking if she needed something. Kylie shook her head and looked toward the doors that Alex was taken through. Everyone looked at Kylie with sad eyes. They couldn’t understand what she was going through. The pain was unbearable. What she was going through was eating her alive.
After a few more hours both Rachael and Mike came running towards the main desk asking for Alexandria Santiago. Kylie turned to them when she heard their voices. They spotted Kylie and ran towards her.
“Kylie how is she? What happened? who did this?” Rachael and Mike asked questions Kylie had no answer to. Her mind was a million miles away. Noting made sense. Both Rachael and Mike hugged Kylie both crying in desperation. The pain was equally shared; there was enough pain to go around.
Minutes later Kylie sees someone she never expected to see again. Her hair was shorter and her body thinner but not in a bad way. She did not have any visible bruises on her body and she seemed to be glowing.
“Kylie, are you alright?” The words were said and she could see her mother’s lips moving but Kylie still could not comprehend what was different about her mother. She saw the physical differences but she couldn’t understand why her mother had changed.
“I’ll go get some coffees.” Kylie looked at the woman who had come with her mother and questioned who she was. She had never seen her before and it was clear that she cared about her mother since she squeezed her mother’s hand before heading off to get the coffees. Kylie faintly saw as her mother smiled at the woman and the way in which the woman looked back at her mom.
Kylie raised an eyebrow at her mom who for the first time in Kylie’s years of knowing her, blushed. The surprise was great. Kylie looked back at the girl who went to get the coffees and then at her mother who was blushing even brighter.
“I’ll tell you later.” Kylie scoffs not believing her mother switched teams on her. So many questions went through her mind. Kylie just needed one last look at her mother to reassure her that she was indeed happy.
“How is Alex?” Kylie was then brought back to her reality. Not caring anymore, Kylie cried her heart out. Everything spilled out. She was held tightly by her mom who she had missed like crazy for the last couple months. She had tried to contact her, but she could never find her, and now Kylie had a pretty good idea why.
it had been 12 hours since Kylie had heard anything from the doctors. The operation was taking forever. Kylie was still with the bloody clothes she arrived in. The blood already dried.
She felt weak due to the blood she had donated a few hours ago when the doctor told them that Alex needed blood. The hospital did not have Alex’s blood type but Kylie had a type of blood that was universal meaning it would work just like if it was the girl’s blood.
The nurse had been quick and friendly trying to get something anything out of Kylie. But Kylie said nothing. She just wanted them to tell her what she needed to know. She wanted them to tell her that Alex is going to be OK. That she made it. That they would get married and have their very own soccer team.
“Family of Alexandria Santiago?” the doctor said holding a clipboard in his hands. Kylie quickly got up from the floor and walked up to the doctor. Rachael, Mike, Adriana and her ‘friend’ soon followed.
“how is she?” Kylie asked. Everyone turned too looked at Kylie. These were the first words spoken in hours.
The doctor cleared his throat and looked at his clipboard. “Well the surgery was intense…”
Kylie looked desperately at the doctor. His lips moves but Kylie looked towards the doors Alex was behind.
What if she didn’t make it?
What if Alex was already gone?
The End
~~~~~
Guys I became a mom, I am graduating, and I am getting married. And all this is happening before I even turn 21. Yup life has a way of working out.
Rebecca and I still can’t believe none of this is happening but we are the mothers of a beautiful baby girl. She is so adorable and so stuborn. She fights with me a lot but seems to like Bec just fine. – _ –
God she is awesome. She eats whatever we put in front of her and loves music. She dances to anything and her laugh is so cute. When I tickle her she gets really angry and glares at me but she can’t stop laughing.
She is a people person and goes to anyone who tells her she is adorable and who has candy. She just turned 10 months last week and we are planning on having a huge a party with a piñata and everything for when she turns one.
But OMG her diapers are Atomic bombs, God I swear I have never smelled something worst then her dirty diapers. Man I have spent so much money on air fresheners these past few days. Don’t laugh man cuz my eyes get watery as if I were cutting anions. Man this little girl is something else.
I think I now understand parents. They want the best for us. They want to protect us from all the bad things that go on around us. Hell, I would chain Carmen to my bed if I could so she couldn’t leave the house. This little girl has all the little boys following her and she’s not even one yet.
My mom says that I am in for a lot with her since she is going to be a beautiful young lady who is going to have everybody behind her. It scares me because I know its true. I’m going to make applications so if they would want to date her I need your information and will not be allowed to date her until I review the application.
I Swear if an asshole breaks her heart there are going to be some bones broken.
But thanks for being there for us guys.
This has been an incredible journey. I am thankful to you all for allowing this story to be as much as a success as it is. I honestly never expected anyone to read this, but you guys have made this possible through all your support and for that I will be eternally grateful.
I have gained so many friends and acquaintances, people I would have never met anywhere else. Thanks for reading and for commenting even for bullying me into finishing.
Rebecca and I would like to thank all of you who have prayed, celebrated, cried, screamed, and happy danced with us. I am honestly at a loss of words for all your support. I would have lost it if it weren’t for you guys telling me to be strong and to hang in there.
THIS IS NOT THE END.
Sequel –
Like I said thanks for the support
