Chapter 4

“Until I got titties,” Sabrina whispered, voice hard.

Ebony silently pulled Sabrina into an embrace. She combed her fingers through Sabrina’s hair, gently massaging Sabrina’s scalp as Sabrina chattered about never being good enough, or smart enough, or pretty enough. The joke was on Robin Jacobs, though. The son he doted on? Was now a pre-op transsexual undergoing hormone treatments?

“You ARE good enough. You ARE smart enough. And you ARE Beautiful enough for me,” Ebony whispered, softly kissing the top of Sabrina’s head.

In the morning, Sabrina woke Ebony with soft kisses and caresses. She was about to wiggle out of bed to start on their breakfast but Ebony pulled Sabrina back into the bed. Despite their horrendous morning breath, they kissed. Then, Ebony twisted Sabrina onto her left side. Ebony rolled around, lying on her left side. Then she brought her mouth to Sabrina’s hairless mount.

“Oh! Sixty nine!” Sabrina enthused and began to tongue Ebony’s quickly moistening lips.

Ebony used tongue and fingers on Sabrina’s wet sex and Sabrina mimicked Ebony’s actions. Ebony brought Sabrina to the brink of climax twice, then stopped. The third time, just when Sabrina was about to protest, Ebony achieved climax so allowed Sabrina her release as well.

After using the facilities, including Sabrina’s bidet, Ebony dressed in her red velvet dress. She draped her red stockings on Sabrina’s pillow and pulled some footies from her purse. Slipping her high heeled pumps onto her feet, Ebony strolled to the kitchen where Sabrina was finishing the four waffles.

They sat at the kitchen table, quietly eating the breakfast. After finishing her breakfast, Ebony assisted Sabrina in cleaning up. Then with a soft kiss, she wished Sabrina a very Merry Christmas and sauntered to the door.

“I uh, I ever need you again?” Sabrina stammered, following Ebony to the door.

“You got my phone number,” Ebony smiled, giving Sabrina one last maple-syrup flavored kiss at the door.

“Oh, oh, here. Here’s your money,” Sabrina said, handing Ebony a very thick bank envelope. “I uh, there, there’s a tip in there.”

Waiting for the elevator, Ebony found the pre-paid Visa card inside of the envelope. The app on her phone told her that the card had the right amount, the agreed upon amount. Of course, the hundred dollars extra for spending the night was not on the card. But, there were twenty five Franklins in the envelope with the card; Ebony was not about to argue for that one hundred dollars extra.

Getting home, Penny Johnson removed the red felt dress, put on a nice blouse and knee length skirt. She slipped on a pair of comfortable flats, then pulled her regular phone out of her purse. Shutting off the voice recording she’d made of her night with Sabrina Jacobs, Penny texted her mother that she would meet her and Jerome at church.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ebony Goode bought another cheap cell phone and put the new phone number on the Connelly Caller’s on-line advertisements. She did a few parties, did some dancing, and even had a few dates with a very nice young man attending Connelly College on an athletic scholarship. Or, Penny Johnson had assumed that Beauregard ‘Bo’ Dunn was a nice young man. He assumed that, because they’d been intimate, she was now his property.

“Sorry, David,” Penny smirked.

“Uh, it’s Bo,” Bo said.

“Huh? Oh, oh yeah. It’s just that, you dumb ass mother fuckers think women ain’t nothing but property all look alike, know what I’m saying?” Penny smirked. “Uh, yeah, it’s been nice but uh, you got to be going, know what I’m saying?”

“What? Bitch, Bo Dunn? Is the best thing ever happened to you,” Bo declared.

“No. I’M the best thing ever happened to me,” Penny said as she locked the door behind the agitated young man.

Checking her newest burner phone to see if she had any requests for EG Entertainment, Ebony saw the old phone in the desk drawer. It had a twelve percent battery so she once again charged it. Neither phone had any messages on it so Penny contacted her mother to see if her mom wanted to go out to Bombay Café for a mother-daughter dinner. Cheryl agreed and they sat, catching up with one another. Cheryl shrugged when Penny admitted it was over between herself and Bo Dunn.

“Well, Sweetheart, the only thing you two had in common was you were both attracted to Bo Dunn,” Cheryl quipped.

In Late February, Penny/Ebony squealed when the old burner phone gave a loud ring. But, looking at the display before hitting the button to accept the call, Ebony saw that it was not Sabrina’s phone number. So she let it go to voice mail.

“Yes. This is Theresa White; attorney for one Sabrina Jacobs,” a harsh sounding female’s voice snapped. “Ms. Goode? Please return my call at your earliest convenience. The number is…”

“Why they always say that? At your earliest convenience?” Ebony asked herself as she hurriedly scribbled the phone number onto her post-it notepad. “Who would call at their latest convenience?”

Returning the call, Penny identified herself as Ebony Goode. The receptionist put her on hold for so long that Penny was just about to hang up. Then another female came on and asked if Ebony could come into the office.

Penny wondered if she should arrive at the attorney’s office dressed as Penny Johnson or as Ebony Goode. She finally decided to wear a banker’s outfit. Knee-length navy blue skirt, crisp white blouse and navy blue jacket.

The office environment was no better than their telephone environment. Ebony was about to tell all them white bitches to just kiss her naturally black ass when a young woman finally came into the waiting room and asked Ebony to follow her.

“You treat all your customers like that?” Ebony asked as the woman marched with purpose toward the door of Theresa White’s office.

“You are not a client,” the woman said tersely.

Theresa White was an attractive blonde, or she would be attractive if she did not have a sneer on her face. She had a narrow face, light blue eyes, a sharp nose and light pink lips. Her figure, what Ebony could see of it was a lush, mature woman’s figure; very pleasing.

“I am the executrix of Sabrina Jacobs’ estate,” Theresa said when Ebony was settled in the chair.

“Estate? She, is she, did she die?” Ebony asked.

“Hmm? Yes. Cancer. Don’t worry; she didn’t suffer. The week after the New Year’s she went into Hospice,” Theresa said, softening slightly as Ebony’s eyes filled with tears.

“Oh! I, I didn’t even know she was sick,” Ebony disclosed, grabbing some tissues from the box on Theresa’s desk.

“I, uh, well, yes. But, right before she uh, before the cancer progressed too far, she contacted a jeweler,” Theresa said, pulling a long brown envelope from her desk drawer.

Inside of the envelope was a second envelope. It was just a simple Christmas card, the type of generic Christmas card one would buy from the local Dollar Giant discount store. There was a pre-paid Visa card inside of the card. Theresa pursed her lips and drummed her fingers in impatience as Ebony read Sabrina’s deplorable scrawling message.

“To Ebony: Thank you for one of the best Christmases of my adult life, Love Always, Sabrina Jacobs.”

There were two square boxes inside of the long brown envelope. The first box held a quite heavy heart made of rose gold. The perimeter of the heart was lined with 1/4 carat square cut diamonds. Without measuring it, Ebony deduced the heart was just a little bit larger than an old silver dollar coin.

The second box held a Christmas tree in green gold. The ‘ornaments’ were round cut 1/4 carat emeralds, rubies and diamonds. Again, the brooch was just a little larger than a dollar coin.

The pre-paid Visa card inside of the Christmas card was for five thousand one hundred dollars; Ebony smiled sadly. Apparently Sabrina had remembered the extra charge to spend the entire night for that Christmas Eve.

“Thank you,” Ebony quietly said after verifying that the long brown envelope held nothing else.

“Welcome,” Theresa said, already typing on her keyboard.

“THANK YOU,” Ebony said again as she opened the door of the office.

Waiting for the elevator, Ebony pinned the Christmas tree brooch onto her blouse just above her left breast. Touching it gently, she promised herself that every day would be Christmas.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Home again from that tense, uncomfortable meeting in the attorney’s office, Penny carefully took the brooch from her blouse and put it into the small velvet box again. Giving the thoughtful gift one more look, she closed the box and placed the Christmas tree and the heart brooches into her fireproof safe in her closet.

After checking that there were no calls on her most recent EG Entertainment voice mail, Penny took a look at the other burner phone. She decided, since it had been so long since the phone number had been posted, she could use the number on the next update for EG Entertainment. She squealed as the phone suddenly rang in her hand.

“I uh, I, I can’t believe I’m calling but uh, Ms. Goode? Ms. Ebony Goode? This, this is Ms. Uh, this is Theresa White?” Theresa stammered into the phone.

“Yes?” Ebony asked, wondering if there was some unfinished business with the estate of Sabrina Jacobs.

“I cannot believe I’m… Well, I uh, Ms. Goode, uh, how, how much for uh, well, how much for an hour of your ah, your services?” Theresa stammered and Ebony believed she could actually hear the mature woman’s blush through the cell phone.

“Minimum is three hours,” Ebony smiled a satisfied little smile and planned to add a three hundred dollar gratuity; women were notoriously bad tippers.
