Chapter 7

“answer her then,” sophia responded. “act normal, say you’re in the bathroom or something, if she asks where we are, just say you have no clue and that i’m still asleep.”

“i don’t want to lie to megan,” dani muttered.

“dani why don’t you come up with something then, huh?” manon replied.

the latina rolled her eyes, “fine, you do you”.

manon smirked and answered the call. “hey megs, what’s up?”

to which the girls heard, “where the absolute fuck are you guys? i wake up and dani’s gone, her phone’s still here, i called lara, no response, i called yoonchae, no response, i even almost called sophia! you wanna tell me what shitshow you guys are playing at right now?”

“umm megs chill, i’m pooping right now-“

“EW,” megan shrieked.

“but soph’s asleep and i have no clue where the other girls are.”

“seriously? you guys are plotting something again? i’m coming to your room.” megan ended the call.

“well, …shit.” manon decided.

sophia, ever the smart, organized leader, came up with a plan. “okay, here’s what we’ll do. manon, dani, lara, yoonchae, go hide in the bathroom. if megan tries to find manon, the door will be locked and manon will respond. i’ll say i was asleep and pretend meg knocking woke me up.”

the four girls ran into the bathroom and shut the door. sophia settled herself under the covers, face buried in a pillow.

for a moment, katseye was silent.

then megan banged on the door. “manon,” she called softly, trying not to wake sophia. no response. “manon?” slightly louder, she banged again.

sophia kicked off the covers, ruffled her hair, and put on her best tired face. “megs?” she murmured as sleepily as she could. “whatcha doing here?”

megan’s eyes widened. “shit, soph, did i wake you up? sorry… i can’t find lara, yoonchae, manon, or even daniela. do you know where they are?”

“i have no idea,” sophia put a scared face on. “did manon get kidnapped? i can’t lose her! megs, wait outside, i’m gonna get dressed and meet you, okay?”

megan slipped out of the hotel room, slumping against the wall. where had the girls gone? and mostly, where did daniela go? it wasn’t like she cared, she was just worrying because beck would kill her if she lost dani. definitely. but seriously, did dani hate her? (not that she didn’t hate dani,) but how had dani slipped out without megan noticing? megan noticed everything.

meanwhile, sophia had given manon a text saying, ‘all clear, but i’ll go with her just in case.’ she got dressed and slipped out, telling megan, “let’s go down to breakfast. maybe they’re there.”

manon and the rest of the girls slipped out of the bathroom. “soph’s gonna text me once their downstairs, so dani, you can go back to your room and lara and yoonchae yours.

“damn,” lara teased. “hate us that much?”

“yea,” dani added. “and i thought you at least loved me because i helped set you up with sophia, huh?”

yoonchae’s eyes widened. “really? you set them up!” she gasped like she had discovered something life changing. “okay lara let’s go back now, i want more sleep.”

manon laughed, and ruffled yoonchae’s hair. “sophia sent me the all clear, y’all can head back now.”

so once again, manon was left to the quiet of her room.
