Chapter 27

This was it. The moment. The line between playful tension and everything you’d been thinking about since rehearsal started.

Your breath caught as you turned – Dani was standing just a few steps away, towel now slung over her desk chair, hair loose and slightly messy from where she’d tugged the tie out on the way up.

She looked wrecked – in the hottest, most dangerous way. Tank top clinging to her skin flushed, a slight sheen still glistening across her collarbones.

You reached for her without thinking – desperate to finally touch her.

But she stepped back. Just one pace. Enough to make your stomach flip.

Her eyes narrowed, playful and dark.

“Mm-mm,” she said softly. “You’ve been so good all night. So patient.” She leaned against the dresser, arms crossed over her chest. “Why stop now?”

You blinked. “Dani- “

“I’m just asking you to wait a little longer.” She tilted her head. “You can do that for me, can’t you?”

You stared at her, jaw tight, pulse thudding in your neck.

She walked toward you – slowly, slowly – and when she reached you, she still didn’t touch. Just circled you. Looked at you like you were some kind of dessert she hadn’t decided how to eat yet.

“I saw you watching me all night,” she murmured, voice like velvet. “Sitting in the corner all quiet. Obedient. Sweet.”

Her fingers trailed lightly over your arm – barely there – then disappeared again.

“Bet you were thinking all kinds of things, huh?”

You swallowed. “Yes.”

“What kind of things?”

You hesitated. She smiled.

“Oh you don’t have to say it,” she whispered, stepping in close again. “I know. I could feel it. Every time I looked at you, it was written all over your face.”

She traced a single finger down your chest, stopping just below your sternum. “You want me to touch you?”

Your breath hitched. “God, yes.”

“Poor thing.” She leaned in, lips brushing your jaw. “So desperate.”

And then… she pulled away.

Again.

Walked toward her side of the room, opened a drawer, and pulled out a fresh tank top and shorts.

You blinked. “Wait- what are you doing?”

She looked over her shoulder, casual as ever. “Getting changed. You didn’t think I was just gonna go straight from rehearsal to… you, did you?”

“Dani.”

She smirked. “Patience, baby.”

You stood there, fists lightly clenched, watching her peel off the damp tank and toss it onto the laundry basket like it wasn’t killing you. She didn’t even close the bathroom door when she stepped inside – just left it ajar so you could hear the water running, the sound of her sighing as she washed up, the soft rustle of fabric against skin.

Minutes ticked by.

Endless, torturous minutes.

And just when you thought you thought you couldn’t take it anymore, she emerged – clean faced, hair now tied in a low, messy bun, wearing an oversized tee that definitely wasn’t part of the plan.

You opened your mouth to protest, but she beat you to it.

“I know,” she said, biting back a grin. “Not the look you were hoping for.”

“Not even a little,” you muttered.

“But,” she said, slowly walking back toward you, “you’ve been so good.”

Your hands twitched at your sides.

She stopped in front of you again – so close, her breath was warm on your neck.

“And because I’m nice…”

Her fingers hooked the front of your waistband, tugging you forward until your bodies touched – her softness against your heat, the contrast dizzying.

“I might let you have what you want.”

You exhaled like you’d been holding your breath for ten years. “Thank God.”

“But you have to ask,” she whispered, lips brushing yours. “Sweetly.”

You looked at her – wide-eyed, completely undone, barely holding it together.

“Please.”

She tilted her head. “For what?”

“Please… touch me.”

Her eyes glittered with satisfaction – slow-burning, sultry, and so smug.

“There she is,” she whispered, finally closing the space between you.

And this time – this time – she didn’t pull away.

I was gonna add this one to the end of the last chapter, but thought otherwise and decided to make it it’s own chapter since it’s a little different to the rest 😉
