Chapter 13

It was well past midnight at the Katseye house.

The living room was dark, the TV still glowing faintly with the end screen of some movie no one actually finished. Most of the girls had already vanished to their respective rooms. Or so you thought.

You and Dani were curled up in the kitchen, half-sharing a tub of raw cookie dough, half kissing between bites, whispering nonsense and trading slow smiles that meant something else entirely.

“I’m gonna steal you for five minutes,” Dani murmured against your mouth, her thumb stroking just under the hem of your shirt.

You smiled. “Only five?”

“We’ll see how quiet you can be.”

You bit back a laugh as she took your hand and pulled you toward the hallway – quiet footsteps, socks on hardwood, hearts racing for reasons unrelated to sugar. Her room was at the end of the hall, shared with Manon, who had gone out for the night.

But before you could reach her door, you both heard a sound.

A very… distinct sound.

You froze. Dani’s head tilted.

“…Was that-“

You both turned toward the noise. It was coming from Sophia and Yoonchae’s room.

You exchanged a glance – a mix of curiosity, horror, and nosy girlfriend syndrome.

Another sound. Low. Breathless. Not Yoonchae’s voice.

“Did you hear that?” you whispered.

Dani narrowed her eyes. “That’s definitely not Yoonchae.”

She tiptoed forward, you right behind her like some bad detective duo in a romcom. You reached the door just as another unmistakable moan came through – loud enough to erase all doubt.

You gasped.

Dani clapped a hand over your mouth, eyes wide, face frozen in secondhand panic, and amusement.

You both stood there, speechless, listening.

And then – the worst possible timing – the door cracked open.

Sophia stepped out wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt, hair a mess, lips swollen, and face flushed.

She froze when she saw you two.

You froze too.

Dani slowly lowered her hand from your mouth.

Silence.

“…Hey,” Sophia said, like she’d just come back from grabbing a snack and not absolutely ruining someone’s life inside that room.

“…Hi,” you managed, trying not to laugh.

From inside the room came another voice – feminine, unfamiliar – calling softly, “Sophie, you coming back?”

Dani lost it.

She doubled over laughing, grabbing the door-frame for support while Sophia turned bright red, spinning to shut the door behind her.

“This didn’t happen,” Sophia said firmly, pointing between the two of you. “You saw nothing.”

Dani, still breathless: “Who was that?”

Sophia rubbed her eyes. “No one. Shut up. Don’t talk to me ever again.”

You grinned. “Look at you pulling a me.”

Sophia groaned. “I hate you.”

“I feel so proud right now,” Dani said, wiping a pretend tear.

Sophia stepped back into the room and slammed the door.

You and Dani just stood there in the hallway for a beat, trying to recover.

Then Dani turned to you with a wicked grin. “Well. Now I’m extra turned on.”

You raised a brow. “Seriously?”

She pulled you toward her room. “If Sophia gets to have her fun, I want mine.”

*

The next morning at breakfast, Sophia walked in like nothing happened.

Yoonchae, sipping her coffee, said without looking up, “Hope your friend made it home safe.”

The entire table howled.

Sophia flipped her off with no shame and poured herself cereal.

You leaned into Dani’s side, whispering, “So… who’s next?”

Dani smirked. “Honestly? I’m more worried someone’s gonna walk in on us next.”

You shrugged, all innocent. “Then we better make it worth it.”
