Chapter 16

Caitlin had just finished recounting every single detail from the night before to Kate. She told her about how Nika had shamelessly flirted with Sienna, how Caitlin had been seething with jealousy, and how stunning Sienna had looked-so much so that both men and women couldn’t help but check her out. Caitlin left nothing out, every little detail spilling from her lips as Kate listened intently. When Caitlin finally finished, the line was silent for a beat.

Then Kate chuckled, breaking the tension. “Wow, Cait, when I said make a move, I didn’t think you’d do it in a women’s bathroom. I thought it’d be something romantic, like a date.”

Caitlin groaned, her face heating up. “Kateee, you’re not helping at all.”

Kate kept laughing. “Okay, okay, I’ll stop.”

Once her laughter died down, her voice turned serious. “Caitlin, all I can say is that you need to talk to Sienna. Clear the air between you both. Maybe even clear the tension between you two,” she added cheekily.

Caitlin sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Yeah, you’re right, Kate. I need to talk to Sienna. What would I do without you, Martin?”

Kate chuckled. “You’d be lost without me, Clark.”

After talking a little longer, Caitlin hung up and sat there, debating her next move. Should she go talk to Sienna now? Was she ready? The uncertainty gnawed at her, but she knew one thing-she had to talk to Sienna. She needed to. Making up her mind, she stood up, took a deep breath, and walked to Sienna’s apartment next door.

She exhaled deeply before knocking.

A few moments later, the door opened. Caitlin smiled, expecting to see Sienna. But her smile vanished instantly when she found herself face-to-face with someone she wasn’t expecting-Joseph.

Sienna’s so-called boyfriend.

He had a bright smile on his face, one Caitlin immediately decided she hated. And then, just when she thought it couldn’t get worse, he opened his mouth.

“Hello, yes. May I help you, ma’am? Do you need something?”

Caitlin mentally rolled her eyes. “Great,” she thought. “You just had to show up after I had my tongue down your girlfriend’s throat last night. What a weird turn of events.”

Putting on a fake smile, she said calmly, “Hi, yes. Is Sienna here? I want to talk to her about something.”

Joseph stared at her for a moment before his face lit up in recognition. “Wait, hold up. You’re Caitlin Clark! Since when was my Princess friends with the Caitlin Clark?”

Caitlin visibly cringed at the word Princess coming out of his mouth. Before she could respond, she heard the voice she had been dying to hear all morning.

“Joseph, babe, who’s at the door?”

Sienna’s voice rang out, followed by the sound of her footsteps approaching. When she finally came into view, she stood beside Joseph, who-much to Caitlin’s dismay-immediately wrapped an arm around her waist.

Caitlin’s jaw clenched as she stared at the unwelcome display of affection.

Sienna’s eyes widened slightly upon seeing Caitlin, clearly not expecting her to visit after their previous encounter. She quickly composed herself, offering a tight-lipped smile. “Caitlin, what are you doing here? Do you need something?”

Caitlin swallowed and rubbed the back of her neck nervously. “Um, yeah. I was hoping we could talk about that interview you wanted to do. The one we talked about the other night.”

Sienna looked at Caitlin, momentarily confused, before realization dawned on her face. Caitlin wasn’t here to talk about an interview. Caitlin was here to talk about about their shared kiss.

Sienna glanced at Joseph, then back at Caitlin. “Oh, right. The interview. I totally forgot about that. Sure, we can discuss it. Joseph, you don’t mind, do you?”

Joseph shrugged. “Not at all, Princess. Go ahead. I’ll just go have my shower.” He pressed a kiss to Sienna’s forehead before walking away.

Silence stretched between them once Joseph disappeared down the hallway.

Caitlin was the first to speak. “I’m sorry about last night, Sunshine. I shouldn’t have kissed you. It was wrong of me. I mean, you do have a boyfriend, and I don’t want to ruin things.”

Sienna sighed, running a hand through her blonde curls. “Look, Cait… about last night… I don’t think I’m ready to talk about it yet. Right now, my feelings and emotions are all over the place, and I just need time to think.”

Then, she added softly, “I’m not saying we should forget about it. I just need time. And I think it’s best if we give each other space right now.”

Caitlin nodded slowly, absorbing Sienna’s words. “Okay, Sunshine. I’ll give you space. And if you’re ready to talk, I’m just next door.”

Sienna nodded. “Okay, Cait. Thank you for understanding.”

Caitlin nodded again. “No problem, Sunshine. And I’m sorry again.”

Turning to leave, Caitlin reached for her apartment door handle, But before she could walk in, something made her turn back, Something inside her told her to say one last thing.

“Hey, Sunshine.”

Sienna looked up. “Yeah, Clark?”

Caitlin grinned. “All the things I said in that restroom last night? I meant it. Just so you know.”

With that, Caitlin disappeared into her apartment, leaving Sienna standing there, mind spinning as she replayed Caitlin’s words over and over again.
