“I hate her,” Dorothy Stitwell thought bitterly as she spread her crimson red ULD STORM blanket out on the lush grass.

“You don’t hate her,” the petite red head thought, flinging her thigh length limp red hair back.

“Fine. I hate HIM,” Dorothy amended, watching as the four musicians tuned their instruments.

“Yes, we hate Billy Begnaud; God damned Billy Beg… Then why are we still crying over him?” Dorothy asked, big green eyes filling with tears as she thought of her former boyfriend.

“Should have gone on to Walchester,” Dorothy thought forlornly as the early August sun beat down upon her. “Bet it wouldn’t be this damned hot in Commonstead; GOD! Is Louisiana always so unbelievably hot?”

“Oh well, just get through this semester; God damned Billy Begnaud. Wanted to go to Walchester but NNNOOO! My boyfriend’s a Storm so I got to be a Storm Chaser. Just get through this semester then you can transfer to Walchester and ULD and Billy Begnaud can just kiss my pasty white ass,” Dorothy thought as she and a few dozen others waited for the ‘Summer in the Park’ concert to begin.

“And I hate Cheap Trick; why am I sitting here for some stupid Cheap Trick concert?” Dorothy thought as the four musicians now did a quick warmup.

“There you are! Hi,” a beautiful red head exclaimed, flopping down onto the blanket next to Dorothy.

“Uhu?” Dorothy asked, startled as the woman leaned over and delivered a kiss to Dorothy’s cheek.

“Hi! OMG you are even prettier than your picture yeah I can never take a selfie worth a shit either OMG! Your eyes are gorgeous Hey wait, I, I thought you said you’re just about blind without your glasses are those contacts you been waiting long I had to wait until the bread was ready it’s a parmesan oregano I just love baking my own bread but I got us some ham and cheese Burns and Burns has got this sharp Swiss it is my absolute all-time favorite and with the maple glazed ham to die for,” the woman said, unzipping her oversized insulated bag.

“Huh?” Dorothy asked, trying to make sense out of the woman’s machine gun delivery.

“And I got us some cherry bombs<" the woman whispered into Dorothy's ear. "I take some cherry vodka and some cherry liqueur and some of that hot cinnamon liqueur see I put everything into the freezer the night before alcohol doesn't freeze so it is absolutely ice cold and I pour like a whole bunch of the vodka I've got a one quart bottle its insulated so it keeps everything perfect then do like some of the cherry and then just kind of fill it up with the cinnamon the cinnamon's unbelievable with tequila too you want some?"

“Lady, who are you?” Dorothy finally managed to get out.

“I, I’m Margot. Margot Richards,” the red head said, now sitting back and staring at Dorothy. “We met? On line? Women for women?”

“Huh?” Dorothy asked.

“You, you’re Laurel, right? Laurel Jennings?” Margot asked. “We said we’d both wear red; red heads aren’t supposed to wear red that is so stupid I love red it is a good strong color but just because our hair is red they say we’re…”

Dorothy realized she’d pulled on her Begnaud #27 University of Louisiana at DeGarde football jersey to wear over her bright yellow bikini. She decided that walking down the highway wearing nothing but her sexy yellow bikini would be inviting unwanted attention and so she just grabbed something out of the laundry basket before dashing out of the house.

The walls had been closing in on her; Dorothy couldn’t stop thinking about Billy and him cheating on her with some girl. Her ‘Around Town’ app on her phone had told her about the ‘Summer in the Park’ string quartet tribute to Cheap Trick so she’d grabbed her ULD blanket and a cover-up and walked the half mile to Huvall Park.

“Who knows?” Dorothy had told herself as her flip flops slapped the scorching asphalt. “Maybe might find yourself someone even cuter than Billy… There is no one cuter than Billy Begnaud. God, why am I even here?”

“I, I’m Dorothy,” Dorothy now said to the stammering red head. “Dorothy Stitwell.”

“OMG, I, I’m oh, I feel like,” Margot stammered, small hand covering her pretty mouth.

“And I just told you I’m gay,” she whispered into Dorothy’s ear. “Well I think I’m gay no I know I mean I been telling myself I’m bi but…”

“I uh, it, it’s okay,” Dorothy said as the four musicians again paused to once more tune their instruments.

“Sorry folks,” the cello player smiled apologetically. “The humidity is really making it hard to keep our instruments in tune.”

“I, oh, oh my God,” Margot said, now standing and looking around for another red head wearing something red.

“Looking up at the girl, Dorothy saw that Margot was wearing a blood red man’s shirt unbuttoned over her blood red bikini top. Her denim skirt ended well before her knees, showing off Margot’s pale but shapely legs. The sleeves of the shirt were rolled up, exposing Margot’s small hands with bright red fingernails. Dorothy looked down at her own bright yellow fingernails; she’d painted her nails that morning, deciding to match her fingernails with her bikini. A little breeze suddenly fluttered, whipping Margot’s shirt and showing Dorothy that Margot Richards had a sweetly rounded backside filling out her denim skirt.

“I, damn, wonder if she maybe didn’t make it?” Margot mused out loud, swiveling to do a full 360 degree scan of the park once again.

“You, you’re welcome to sit here and wait for her,” Dorothy invited, even patting the blanket next to herself.

“Now, why in the hell did I just invite this crazy motor mouth woman to…” Dorothy asked herself as Margot rewarded her with a brilliant smile.

Margot Richards was beautiful, in Dorothy’s eyes. Her square face was fully exposed; Margot’s thigh length carrot orange hair had been pulled into a ponytail on the top of Margot’s head, cascading down her back. Her large brown eyes were warm pools, her nose was slim and her mouth was wide with plump lips. Her ears were small, sporting diamond stud earrings.

Dorothy guessed that Margot was probably three to four inches taller; probably five feet one or two inches to Dorothy’s four feet ten inches in height.

Margot’s breasts were at least a C cup; the bright red bikini top displayed them beautifully. The open shirt showed off Margot’s pale belly and tiny nick of a belly button. The very short skirt displayed her sleek pale legs and her bright red leather tennis shoes looked brand new.

Even as the musicians launched into ‘Dream Police’ Margot continued to search the scattered crowd for Laurel Jennings. With a shrug, she finally sat down, resting very close to Dorothy. Dorothy pulled her eyes from Margot’s flesh to watch the musicians play a pop metal song with dexterity and flair. She, along with the others applauded the presentation.

“Free bird!” Margot screamed out, laughing at her own silliness.

“You heard the lady,” the cello player said to the other smiling musicians.

In unison, the four musicians gave Margot the middle finger. With the audience laughing, the four began to play another Cheap Trick tune.

“I think that’s ‘Ain’t That a Shame’ that’s not really a Cheap Trick song it’s a Fats Domino song but no, no, I think Pat Boone did it then Fats Domino did it but theirs is awesome,” Margot whispered, still giggling over the ‘free bird’ incident.

“I uh…” Dorothy stammered as Margot delivered a soft kiss to Dorothy’s cheek.

Margot sat back, slightly sweaty thigh touching Dorothy’s slightly sweaty thigh. The audience once again clapped for the performance. A strawberry blonde walked in front of them, brown eyes looking enormous behind black framed thick glasses. Her red crop top and blood red low rider jeans displayed a slim physique.

“I bet, I bet that’s Laurel,” Margot whispered to Dorothy.

Margot got onto hands and knees, crawling across the blanket to where the young woman stood, peering myopically around. Dorothy was able to see Margot’s shapely rear end as the skirt rose, revealing Margot’s lack of panties. Dorothy was able to see Margot’s plump pubic mound; it was obvious that Margot waxed or shaved her pubic region.

Margot reached out and grabbed Laurel by her ankle. Just as the musicians began another song, Laurel Jennings let out a shriek.

“Hi! You Laurel?” Margot laughed, bouncing up and grabbing Laurel in a quick hug.

“You have got to be Margot,” Laurel laughed happily, returning the hug. “But I was looking; I thought you’d be by yourself.”

“You are NOT a red head,” Margot accused, pulling Laurel to sit to Dorothy’s left.

“Close enough; it’s not blonde,” Laurel defended, holding a hank of her waist length pinkish-orange curls.

“Dorothy, tell her. Tell her that is not red,” Margot ordered. “Laurel, this is my BFF Dorothy.”

“I’m your BFF?” Dorothy wanted to ask even as she said to Laurel. “Sorry sister. Pink is not the new red.”

“Hi, I’m Laurel,” Laurel said needlessly, holding out a slim hand to Dorothy.

“Sh!” several people around them hissed.

“Sorry, sorry,” Dorothy whispered, flaming bright red at incurring the wrath of the other attendees.

“Surrender! Excellent!” Margot whooped, unzipping her insulated bag.

She pulled out three sandwiches wrapped in paper towels. She handed one to Dorothy; this was delivered with a soft kiss. She handed the second one to Laurel and leaned across Dorothy to softly kiss Laurel’s plump lips. She sat back, sweaty leg again pressed against Dorothy’s sweaty leg. Head whirring from the kiss, from the contact, Dorothy took a bite of her sandwich.

“Mm! I, and you made this bread?” Dorothy whispered.

“Mm hmm I almost became a chef I still might but right now I just love being a hairdresser I just opened Margot’s its over on Rebecca right off nineteen I get a lot of the women from that Shapes Wellness Center who does your hair you really are beautiful,” Margot enthused.

“Sh!” more people shushed them.

Laurel also whispered her appreciation of the delicious ham and cheese sandwich. Nodding her acceptance of their praise, Margot dug an insulated bottle from the depth of her bag. Pushing the straw up, she took a big swallow and passed the bottle to Dorothy. Dorothy took a sip then almost spluttered as the ice cold alcohol burned her throat all the way down to her stomach.

“This that cherry bomb stuff you was telling me about?” Laurel whispered, taking a big gulp of the potent beverage.

“Uh huh isn’t it the absolute best?” Margot whispered, accepting the bottle again.

After two more bites of her delicious sandwich, Dorothy again accepted the offered bottle. She sucked forcefully from the straw and shivered as the ice cold beverage burned all the way down.

“Good huh?” Margot breathed into Dorothy’s ear.

“Yeah,” Dorothy agreed; whether Margot was talking about the sandwich or the booze did not matter; they were both good.

Using the hem of the jersey to mop her sweaty face, Dorothy impulsively pulled the jersey up and off, baring her bikini. Her 30C cone shaped breasts sat high on her slim torso. Her waist was 26 inches around and her hips were 28 inches. The thong bottom displayed her compact buttocks beautifully; Billy had said he loved her in…

“Fuck Billy God damned Begnaud,” Dorothy thought, taking another shuddering sip of the alcoholic beverage before passing it to Margot once more.

Maybe it was Dorothy’s imagination, but Margot’s hand seemed to rest on her bare thigh a lot. And Laurel seemed to rest her hand on Dorothy’s hip or bare back whenever she and Margot leaned across Dorothy to whisper something to one another.

“Thank you,” the cello player, the unofficial spokesperson for the group called out as the music came to an end. “Next Saturday in the park? We’ll be doing the songs of Metallica.”

“Boo! Can’t stand them,” Dorothy whispered and Margot laughed.

“Oh come on enter sandman is awesome and I just love for whom the bell tolls,” Margot said.

“Fade to black,” Laurel offered.

“ONE!” Margot shot back.

Even as most of the audience made their way from the park grounds, the three young women sat, continuing to chatter. They’d moved on from Metallica to schools; Margot had attended Kimble Academy and Dorothy had attended DeGarde High School. Laurel admitted she was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas; she seemed almost embarrassed by that fact.

But minute I graduated Daddy said I couldn’t just sit around all day I needed to either go to college or get a job he’s such a butthole sometimes I mean he’s got all kind of money but anyway I went to Capital Cosmetology Training Center out in Elgee and even worked at Miss Helena’s don’t ever go there she is such a bitch,” Margot rambled.

“Going to ULD,” Dorothy said, even pointing to the ULD symbol on the blanket they sat upon.

“OMG! Me too! Start in what; week and a half?” Laurel squealed.

“What’s your major?” Dorothy excitedly asked.

“Business. Yours?” Laurel asked, hand resting firmly on Dorothy’s upper thigh.

“Finance,” Dorothy said. “Well, I think it’s going to be finance. Looking at all they had; that’s the one that really jumped out at me.”

“So, uh,” Margot said, passing the nearly empty bottle to Dorothy.

“Yeah?” Dorothy asked, seeing the light flush on Margot’s face.

“Yeah?” Laurel asked, accepting the bottle and draining it of its final sip.

“Y’all want to take this… My apartment’s right over there,” Margot said, face now bright red with her blush.

“I uh…” Dorothy said, heart suddenly hammering in her throat.

“Those Camelot Apartments?” Laurel asked, gazing over to where Margot was pointing.

“Uh huh, apartment one oh three,” Margot agreed.

“I uh, I said, I said I wasn’t going chicken out this time,” Laurel said, more to herself than to Margot.

“Dorothy?” Margot whispered, fingernails drawing patterns on Dorothy’s right thigh.

Dorothy’s head was buzzing and whirring. Whether it was from the hot sun, the alcohol or the soft touches and kisses, the smell of Margot’s sweat, the smell of Laurel’s sweat and musk perfume, she could not say. Silently, she nodded her head, unable to speak with her heart caught in her throat. Margot let out a breath and softly kissed Dorothy’s lips.
