Claudia and Robin were best friends in elementary and halfway through middle school. Claudia liked Robin more than anyone else. Except her parents, of course, although the amount of love she had for Robin came close.

She didn’t really know what happened between them. It was eighth grade when they stopped being friends. Robin seemed to flip. She changed. It was totally random. One day, she just stopped talking to Claudia. When Claudia tried to confront her on it, she was met with silence.

So, she spent her last year of grade school alone, before becoming semi-popular in high school. She was no Steve Harrington, but enough people liked her to keep her ego way too high for her own good.

Robin, on the other hand, joined band. Now, in the least offensive way possible, being a band kid speaks for itself in terms of popularity. She was pretty much invisible. In fact, Claudia never even noticed her, but she noticed Claudia. She missed her.

It wasn’t until years later that they met again, in what seemed like the most unlikely of places: Scoops Ahoy.
