Chapter 28
A death threat from a stupid man
Clarissa PoV:
When I reached the office the next morning, James was already waiting for me there. He was sitting in front of my office, a wide smile on his else stupid looking face.
“Clarissa! Finally here too, I see.” “They let you in? I am suprised,” I mumbled, walking past him into my office. Sadly, he followed me inside. “Yes, they did. I have a very good reason to be here.” “And that would be?” Placing my bag down on my desk, I forced a fake smile onto my face.
“I want to give you this.” He handed me a letter. “What is that?” I unfolded the letter with a picture of me, crushed under his foot. The smile on his face was a bit scary, I have to admit.
“So you are handing me a death threat or what?” “What? No.” He looked dumb founded. “I think it is. I very much look dead on this.” I turn the picture around and show it to him, before pressing a little button under my desk.
“You can wait at home for a letter from the police. This is your end, James. You finally shot yourself.” There was no way I could hide the proud smile on my lips. James on the other hand, seemed confused and shocked. He probably didn’t see that coming his way.
“And you know the best part about all of this? When I ruined you with this law suit, I will finally be able to buy your shit ass company up.” Before he could conter something, the door to my office opened and Enzo walked in.
“You know the drill. And let Laughlin know that he should inform my lawyer.” The man nodded, before grabbing James and pulling him with him. “Make this easy on yourself Mister Wood. Or I will carry you out like a little child.”
Watching the defeated face of this man was almost as satisfying as making Nora see stars. If you understand what I mean. Sitting down, I looked at the picture once more. “And he really thought this didn’t seem like a death threat,” I mumbled to myself, chuckling.
After Laughlin came in and we talked about what happened, it didn’t take long for police to show up. And after I filed my report and spoke to my laywer, I just had to pay a little fee and had my law suit was rolling smoothly.
Of course the media picked up on what was happening. There was a side that thought I did the right thing, and then there was this side that hated even more on me than before.
James also took his saying in this. And as always, he told the media what I told him. You can’t imagine how many more death threats I got send to my office. I see them more as fan mail than anything else. Maybe some mean it serious, but they would never dare to even get close to me. Those people are cowards, just as much as James is one.
The week passed by quickly. I was in court a lot and had to listen to those pathetic excuses of a man. But the worst part about all this was how little I could see Leonora.
Even more painful was the fact that she also got threats. I ordered Nigel to drive her around whenever she needed to leave her apartment. Sometimes I think if I am ruining her life with all this.
“Guess what,” I said, as I was sitting in my pent house. Leonora and I were on a call. She was already on her way to my place, but I couldn’t wait with the news anymore.
“What?” “You won’t even try to guess?” She chuckled, her voice sounding so soft and sweet. “Well, if I had to guess I would say you are waking for me on our bed, naked.” I rolled my eyes. “I would expect something from me and not you.” We both started laughing, to which I shook my head a bit.
“No, no, no. That’s not what I am talking about.” “Tell me. I don’t want to keep guessing.” Her voice sounded a bit whiny. You could even say needy. I loved it when she sounded like this.
“I won against this bitch ass of a man.” Holding my phone away from my ear, I listened to the excited scream coming from her. “Really?” “Of course. Did you really question if I would win? I mean, c’mon! That was as easy as fingering you.” I could already imagine the flushed face she had.
“And due to that, I was thinking we could maybe… celebrate.” “Just celebrate?” The smirk on my face was wide, before I closed my eyes. “You know me Nora. Tell Nigel to drive faster, I don’t want to keep waiting.”
You could hear her giggle, before she hung up on me. Resting my feet on the coffee table before me, I turned on the tv. This win was everything I needed to finally get rid of that stupid man.
He wasn’t allowed anywhere near me, my company or my girlfriend, he lost his position AND his job, and now I am finally able to have meetings were people tell me about smart ideas.
No headaches anymore when I get into office. No more pretending to listen. No furious man that needs to be carried out like a angry little child. And even though money isn’t a problem for me, he had to pay me a big ammount.
The news were not all that good as they foun out I won and not him. But by now I started to think more like Leonora. Fuck the news and everyone that doesn’t like me. The only thing that mattered was her opinion and lord that woman loved me for who I am.
Lost in my thoughts, I didn’t even realise how she came in. Nor that she sneaked up on me. I only felt her hands grab my chin, as she pulled my head back to kiss me.
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again.” “I gave you a kiss,” she excused it, as she sat down next to me. “Maybe I can forgive you if I get another kiss. Well… a few more kisses.” She tilted her head, before she turned to sit on my lap. “I think I can do that.” I smiled up at her, my hands reaching for her waist to hold her.
“Someone is eager, hm?” “I haven’t seen you much the whole week. We need to catch up on the time we missed.” She leaned down and kissed me softly, her hands tangling in my hair. I gasped, my hands squeezing her waist softly.
As she leaned back, I stared up into her eyes. “I won’t say no to this. Go ahead. Spoil me, Nora.” Her cheeks flushed red, leaving her looking to the side a bit coyly. I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit amused. “You are such a cute woman, I just can’t with you.” “Stooop.” Slowly, I shook my head.
Squeezing her waist again, I watched as she gasped. “Now stopping looking out of the window. I am much more interesting than that, or am I not? And besides, I kiss better than anyone else down there.” She turned her head back to me, biting her lip softly.
“I don’t think you have convinced me with that fact yet.” “Now don’t try to play this game with me, Nora. Or do I need to show you what I am capable off?” Her eyes told me that she wanted nothing more than that, so I made sure to hold her closely, before getting up, carrying her over to my bedroom.
“W-what are you-” “Shhh. I think you know what we will do now.” Her face flushed, before she hid her face in my neck, not complaining any further.
