Chapter 2
I would like to see you again
Leonora PoV:
“I think this night just got interesting…”
Those words gave me a chill down my spine. What was going to be interesting? I was some random woman, that couldn’t even ask to sit down and now was talking like she never ever spoke before.
The barteneder came back with our drinks and Clarissa shoved mine towards me. “Cheers.” She lifted her glass shortly, before she took a sip. My hands were shaking to much, as that I could hold a glass.
“Don’t like it?” I shook my head, trying to get myself to speak. “It-it’s not the drink, just… People.” She smiled at me, patting the empty space besides her.
“They won’t get you here, I promise.” I don’t know why, but I actully came a bit closer, until there was enough space for another person. She crossed her legs and leaned back, staring at me. My cheeks should have the same colour as my hair right now and I couldn’t hide it.
“What am I even doing here?” I asked, downing the drink, breathking in. Lord that had some fire. “Take it easy there, we don’t want you to end in the hospital.” She joked and I chuckled shortly.
“Would be the perfect end for my birthday…” I leaned back and opened my blazer, feeling the my body start to heat up. “Want another one?” “I can’t make you pay for more.” She smiled at me, calling the bartender.
“You said it’s your birthday, see it as your gift.” She ordered two more and took another sip of her glass. “T-thank you…” “Your welcome.”
I looked down at my hands, running my finger over my skin to calm me down.
“If I may ask a question.” I nodded and turned my head slightly to her. “Are you here alone? Because you certainly don’t seem like someone who would go into a club like this.” Was I that see through?
“My friends… They dragged me here. I never really was someone to go out. I start to panick if I’m alone with too many people.” My leg started to bounce up and down and I tried to focus on my breathing.
Why did I even sit down? I slowly started to regret that decision. There was that feeling of running away again and I wanted too, but my legs didn’t listen to me.
“If you want, we can go outside, get some fresh air.” Her landed on my knee and I relaxed at the warm feeling. “I, I don’t know if…” I turned my head to her, trying to catch my breath. “If you can walk? I can help you, don’t worry. Wanna go?” I nodded and watched her stand up.
Before I took her hand to get up, I downed the drink she had ordered for me, grabbing her hand. “You really should think drinking them that fast. You will regret it tomorrow…” “That’s a problem for tomorrow.” I said, feeling the alcohol calm me down.
“Come.” She pulled me with her through the crowd, holding my hand tight in hers. When we finally got outside, I leaned against the wall, breathing in deeply.
Clarissa stood infront of me, emptieing her glass, before throwing it to the side. “Y-you have to pay for that.” I said, watching her as she came closer. “Don’t worry, those three dollars won’t hurt me.”
She smiled. “Feeling better?” I nodded, finally feeling all the alcohol hitting in. “Oh lord…” I stumbled forward and into her arms.
“Maybe I should go home… Can you call me a cab?” She was so close to my face, I felt the blush come back to my cheeks. “How about I just drive you home, hm?” “You drank too, you can’t drive.” She wrapped my arm around her neck and her arm around my waist, holding me up.
“Luckily, I have a driver. What about your friends.” “I’ll just call them.” I don’t know really what happened next, but I was sure we got into a really comfy car. Clarissa greeted a man, before she snapped her fingers infront of my face.
“Where do we have to go Dear?” I pulled my phone out, giving it to her. “Back.” She turned it around and nodded, talking to the man.
“Can you unlock your phone, so that I can call your friends?” She held the phone infront of me and I tried my best. To my suprise, I actually got it and then leaned back, listening to her talk to my friends.
My eyes grew heavy and I closed them, feeling her sit down next to me. Before I could stop myself, I fell to my side, my head on her lap now.
There was a chuckle which gave me a goosebump. I wanted to get back up, but her hand on my arm stopped me. I would blame all this on the alcohol tomorrow.
When we reached my apartment building, I got back up and out of the car. She wrapped her arms back around me, helping me into the building.
“Where are the keys?” “Left pocket.” She got the key and opened the door. “Please don’t tell me we have to go up all these stairs.” I started laughing, feeling tears roll down my face.
“N-no.” I said between laughter, trying to calm down. “You don’t drink that much, do you?” I shook my head, starting to climb the stairs with her help.
“There. But watch out, don’t let my cats out…” She opened the door carefully, pulling me inside with her, before she turned on my lights. “Cozy.” “It is…”
I stumbled to my bed, letting my blazer fall to the ground, getting rid of my tie. “Thank you, for the short but nice evening.” I sat down on the bed, struggling to get out of my heels.
Mirror came over to me and I petted her, pulling her onto my lap.
“I will go now. Please get some sleep.” I smiled, nodding at her. “And, if you want too, I would like to see you again. Here is my card. Visit me when ever you like.” She placed the little paper onto my night stand.
“Sleep tight Nora.” The blush hit my face for the millionth time this evening. “You too.” “See you.” With that, she turned around and left me, pulling the door shut behind her.
Clarissa PoV:
I stared at the stairs, taking off my heels. Why did they hurt like hell after some time. With my heels in hand, I walked down the stairs, back out to my car.
She really didn’t seem to know who I am. I liked that. And I really prayed that she would want to see me again.
I got into my car, throwing the heels onto the seat. “Please drive me home Nigel.” “As you wish Miss Dovey.” He gave me a short smile through the little window and started driving.
The lights flew by, as I stared out of the window. Something about Leonora made me feel… I don’t even know how to describe it. And that was bothering me. I always had the control over everything, but not over this.
The car came to a stop and the door opened. “We arrived.” I smiled up at Nigel and got out of the car, leaving my heels behind.
“Your free to go now Nigel, thank you.” He bowed his head shortly and closed the door of the car, when I walked away. Atleast I didn’t have to walk stairs to my apartment…
With a button pressed, the elevator arrived and I stepped in, pressing the penthouse button and entering my code. I held on tight to the railing, still not liking how fast that thing was shooting up.
When the door opened again, I stumbled into my apartment, thorwing my blazer aside. You had a great view from up here, you could see the whole city and beyond. I liked that.
Carefully, I walked into my bathroom, changing my clothes and washing my face. If Leonora had done the same while I drove home?
I stared into my reflection, groaning at the headache that started to form. There was no way I would show up to work tomorrow, I needed that day for myself.
With that, I walked into my bedroom, getting into the cold bed. Excatly what I needed now. I cuddled into my blanket, closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep.
