Chapter 30
The soft hum of music played from Sienna’s speaker, a mellow indie beat floating through her apartment, but it was drowned out by the sound of her heartbeat and Caitlin’s lips pressed against hers. The couch beneath them creaked faintly as Sienna straddled Caitlin’s lap, her fingers threading through Caitlin’s hair while her body instinctively rocked against her. Caitlin’s hands gripped Sienna’s hips, guiding her movement with a desperation that made Sienna’s skin flush.
Their lips moved in sync-slow at first, then deeper, messier. Caitlin’s tongue tangled with hers, a wet heat that made Sienna gasp against her mouth. The taste of her lip gloss mixed with the salt of Caitlin’s skin. Her hands slid down Caitlin’s shoulders, clutching the soft fabric of her hoodie, her nails digging in lightly.
Caitlin groaned, her head falling back to rest against the couch. “Fuck, baby… don’t stop.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper, but it held power, need, reverence. Her lashes fluttered shut for a second before her hazel eyes locked with Sienna’s again. Raw. Hungry.
Sienna’s breath hitched. “God, you’re trouble,” she whispered, her voice laced with mischief.
Their tongues tangled again, messy and heated, lips swollen, the kiss turning deeper, wetter. Caitlin whimpered into Sienna’s mouth, her hands sliding up under Sienna’s shirt only to settle again on her bare waist, thumbs tracing slow, lazy circles on her skin.
Her fingers tightened on Sienna’s waist as if she couldn’t bear to let her go, like she needed to hold her steady in the intensity of the moment. She helped guide her rhythm, the slow, sensual grind of their bodies sending sharp jolts through Caitlin’s spine.
Sienna whimpered, the heat rising between her thighs, her breath catching as Caitlin’s lips moved from her mouth to the slope of her neck. Soft, open-mouthed kisses peppered her skin, hot and reverent, before Caitlin sucked gently just beneath her jaw.
Sienna moaned at the sensation.
“Cait…” she breathed, her voice like honeyed silk.
“Mhm,” Caitlin murmured, her voice muffled against Sienna’s neck as she left a trail of blooming hickeys, her mouth possessive, reverent, tender, and wild all at once.
“You’re killing me,” Sienna whispered breathlessly, her fingers threaded in Caitlin’s hair.
“You’re doing the same to me,” Caitlin murmured, her voice rough, hands tightening again on Sienna’s hips. “Let me die like this.”
But just as Caitlin leaned in again to kiss her, the doorbell rang.
The sound pierced the air like a rude slap.
Caitlin’s groan was immediate and dramatic, her head dropping into the crook of Sienna’s neck. “Ughhhh, why do we have to be interrupted right now?” Our make out session was getting good. Who could that be?”
Sienna chuckled breathlessly against Caitlin’s cheek, her forehead resting on her lover’s. “Baby, you gotta let me go… that must be Mia and Camden.”
Caitlin’s arms tightened around her waist, refusing. “No. Tell them to go away. So we can continue.”
Sienna giggled, brushing Caitlin’s tangled hair away from her face. “Babe, I can’t just do that. They’re my best friends-I haven’t seen them in a while.”
Caitlin pouted-an actual pout-as she loosened her grip reluctantly. “They have the worst timing.”
Sienna leaned in, pressing a sweet, lingering kiss to Caitlin’s lips. “We’ll pick up where we left off later,” she whispered against her mouth, then pulled back, her cheeks pink and lips kiss-swollen.
Caitlin stared at her for a moment, dramatically betrayed, then sighed in defeat. “Fine. But I want that rain check.”
“You’ll get more than a rain check,” Sienna said with a sly smile, kissing her quickly one last time.
Sienna gave her a teasing smile. “You look like I devoured you.”
“You did,” Caitlin said shamelessly, brushing a thumb over Sienna’s cheek. “And I’d let you again in a heartbeat.”
Sienna blushed and swatted her playfully. She got off Caitlin’s lap running her fingers through her tousled hair and smoothing out her wrinkled blouse, now clinging to her slightly sweaty skin. Her heart was still thudding from the make-out session, her lips tingling, her mind already yearning to get back to where they left off. Caitlin leaned back against the couch, groaning again as she raked her hands through her own messy hair and tried to breathe normally.
Sienna walked to the door and peeked through the peephole. Sure enough, Mia and Camden stood on the other side, their matching expressions filled with excitement.
A grin stretched across Sienna’s face. She opened the door with a loud squeal, launching herself into both their arms. “Ughhh, it’s so good to see you guys. I missed you so much.”
Mia and Camden chuckled, wrapping her up tight in a familiar twin-hug. “We missed you too, Si,” Mia said, ruffling her hair as they pulled back.
“Come in, come in,” Sienna said, ushering them inside, still beaming.
But the moment Mia and Camden stepped into the apartment, their bright smiles slowly dropped into stunned silence.
Their eyes landed on Caitlin- now standing awkwardly trying to smooth her shirt, her hair a glorious mess, lip gloss smudged around her mouth, the barest hints of red blooming on her neck from Sienna’s teeth. She looked freshly kissed, dazed, like someone who had just walked out of a dream she never wanted to end.
Mia’s jaw dropped.
Camden smirked.
Their gazes shifted from Caitlin to Sienna-who was glowing, her lips puffed and kiss-swollen, a clear trail of hickeys dotting her neck, her shirt unmistakably wrinkled, cheeks flushed.
Mia gasped. “Si-” she started.
Camden cut in, still smirking. “Clark. I didn’t expect to see you here. What’s up?”
Caitlin cleared her throat, attempting to act casual despite her racing heart. “Oh, nothing. I just came to see if Sienna needed anything. You know… just being a good friendly neighbor.”
Mia scoffed under her breath, “Good friendly neighbor my ass.”
It wasn’t even subtle.
Everyone heard it.
No one acknowledged it.
Sienna’s face turned redder than a tomato.
Caitlin turned to Sienna, who was biting back a laugh, and leaned in with her hands still nervously in her pockets. “I’ll see you after practice ba- Sunshine,” she said, correcting herself at the last second.
Sienna nodded, lips twitching into a shy smile. “Yeah… I’ll see you then.”
Caitlin gave her one last soft look-her eyes lingering just a little longer-before she turned and walked past Mia and Camden toward the door. The twins watched her go in silence, the sound of the door clicking shut behind her loud in the quiet room.
Then all hell broke loose.
Mia spun on her heel and glared at her best friend like she’d just walked in on a murder. “Sienna Thea Callaway, you better tell me how you literally started hanging out with The Caitlin Clark right now, and do not deny it.”
Camden plopped down on the couch with a smug expression and started scrolling through Netflix like he wasn’t about to be part of a very dramatic conversation.
Sienna gave him a look, “Cam,” she said accusingly, “A little help here?”
Camden just shrugged, clearly enjoying this far too much.
Sienna sighed and pressed her fingers to her temples. “I swear, I could feel a headache forming as soon as the doorbell rang.”
“You brought this on yourself,” Mia said smugly, sitting down beside Camden and crossing her arms.
“Fine,” Sienna muttered. “But you both have to promise not to tell anyone. I mean it. Not your parents. Not my dad. Not even my stepmom.”
Camden and Mia spoke in perfect twin unison. “We promise.”
With a groan, Sienna collapsed onto the couch beside them. She missed Caitlin already and it had only been five minutes. Her skin still tingled from her touch.
Sienna drew in a breath.
“Well, Cam, you already know that I kissed Caitlin. But it doesn’t just end with that one kiss.”
Camden’s eyes widened comically. “There’s more than one?!”
Mia whipped her head toward her twin. “You knew she kissed Caitlin and you didn’t tell me?! I’m your twin. We tell each other everything.”
Camden raised his hands in surrender. “Hey, it wasn’t my place to tell you about Caitlin and Sienna’s first kiss in the Gainbridge restroom after the Storm game.”
Mia’s jaw dropped. “IN THE RESTROOM?”
Sienna groaned. “Damn, y’all are nosy.”
“What can we say?” Mia shrugged. “We’re your best friends.”
Sienna took a deep breath and began her story.
She recounted the fiery argument in the Gainbridge restroom, how it had turned from a tense standoff to a moment that ended in a kiss that left her breathless. She told them about how things shifted-how Caitlin had started seeing her in a way no one else had before. How they’d gone to Camden’s game together and shared glances that said more than words.
She shared how Caitlin picked her up after she’d caught Joseph on his knees with his assistant-how betrayed and crushed she’d felt, how Caitlin had made her feel safe.
She told them about Joseph-the betrayal, the awful thing she caught him doing with his assistant.
Camden’s fists clenched. “Explains why Joseph came knocking on my door looking for you. I swear, I’m gonna kill that dude. What the actual fuck?”
Sienna shook her head and pressed on, telling them how Caitlin picked her up and stayed with her that night, how safe and cherished she felt. She spoke about how Caitlin made her feel seen, valued, and desired in a way no one else had. How, despite just ending things with Joseph, she was taking a chance. Her voice then cracked with emotion. “She makes me feel like… like I’m finally enough. Just as I am.”
When she finally finished, there was silence. Not the judging kind. The soft, full kind.
Mia leaned over first and hugged her tight. “I’m so proud you stood your ground with Joseph. And if Caitlin makes you feel seen and loved-I approve. Even if I’m still shocked it’s Caitlin freaking Clark. And a woman. I thought you were straight.”
Sienna laughed gently, her voice quieter. “I thought I was straight too. I guess… I’m bisexual.”
Mia beamed. “Love that for you.”
Camden moved from the couch, kneeling beside her and wrapping his arms around her. “I’m proud of you, Si. You’re my best friend. If Caitlin Clark is what’s best for you-I approve.”
Sienna’s eyes watered. She felt the tears fall before she even realized they were there.
“Thank you. Both of you. For being here. For not judging me. I love you guys so much.”
“We love you too,” they said together, hugging her from both sides.
Then Mia pulled away with a mischievous glint in her eye. “So, did Miss Caitlin ask you on a date yet?”
Sienna smirked. “Yeah. She did. It’s tomorrow.”
Mia squealed and practically jumped off the couch. “Come on, Sienna, we have to pick out an outfit! Is it casual or formal?”
Sienna let Mia drag her toward her bedroom, laughing. “It’s casual! She told me to dress comfortable-I don’t know what she’s planning.”
Mia hummed thoughtfully. “Mmm, okay. Then let’s find something that says, ‘I’m chill, but I’m also hot as hell and you’re lucky to have me.'”
Sienna giggled again, warmth blooming in her chest.
She turned toward Camden, who was smiling as he watched them. “Cam, are you coming to help or not?”
Camden groaned but followed. “Fine. But Mia’s doing all the work. I’m just here to interrogate your girlfriend later.”
“Typical,” Sienna muttered, but her smile didn’t fade.
Sienna smiled wide, her heart full. Her best friends were here. They didn’t judge her. They loved her. And tomorrow, she had a date with Caitlin Clark.
The butterflies? Oh, they were fluttering already.
But for the first time in a long time, they felt good.
They felt like something close to love.
