Chapter 42
The first thing anyone noticed when they stepped into Lisa’s house wasn’t the luxury furniture, the polished floors, or even the faint scent of vanilla candles.
It was the chaos.
“LISA!” Rosé shouted the moment she opened the door, immediately stepping back as a fluffy orange blur zoomed past her feet. “WHY IS THERE SOMETHING ATTACKING MY ANKLES—”
“That’s Lego!” Lisa called cheerfully from the living room. “He’s friendly!”
“FRIENDLY?!” Rosé yelped as another cat—this one gray and judgmental—sat right in front of her like a guard. “THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE IT PAYS TAXES AND JUDGES PEOPLE!”
“That’s Leo,” Lisa added.
Jisoo walked in behind Rosé, calm as ever, observing the scene like a documentary narrator. “Ah… the kingdom of chaos. Five cats… one dog… and one—” she paused dramatically, glancing toward the couch, “—very expensive cat.”
On the couch sat Jennie.
Legs crossed, phone in hand, sipping her iced coffee like she owned not just the house, but the entire universe. She didn’t even look up immediately.
“…You’re late,” Jennie said flatly.
Jisoo smirked. “See? Told you. The sixth cat has arrived.”
Jennie finally looked up, eyes narrowing. “Excuse me?”
Rosé, still trying to shake off Lego who had now decided her shoelace was an enemy, gasped. “Oh my god, it makes sense now. Lisa doesn’t have five cats.”
She pointed dramatically.
“She has SIX.”
Lisa blinked from the kitchen doorway, holding a bag of treats. “Huh?”
Jisoo folded her arms with a proud nod. “Let’s review. Leo, Luca, Lili, Louis, Lego…” she counted on her fingers before pointing at Jennie. “…and Jennie. The most high-maintenance cat of them all.”
Jennie let out a scoff so dramatic it could’ve been part of a stage performance. “I am NOT a cat.”
At that exact moment, Love—the only dog in the house—trotted happily toward Jennie, tail wagging.
Jennie immediately softened.
“Oh, baby,” she cooed, placing her drink aside and bending down to cuddle Love, her voice turning sweet and affectionate in a second. “Did you miss me? Yes you did, didn’t you?”
Jisoo slowly turned to Rosé with a blank expression.
“…Cat behavior,” she whispered.
Rosé nodded seriously. “Confirmed.”
Lisa, meanwhile, just smiled like this was her everyday normal—because it was.
“Guys, stop teasing,” she said, walking over and sitting beside Jennie. Immediately, two cats climbed onto her lap like they had a reserved seat.
Jennie glanced at them, unimpressed. “Why do they always sit on you?”
“Because they love me,” Lisa grinned.
Jennie raised an eyebrow. “I love you too. Where’s my seat?”
Lisa blinked once.
Then, without hesitation, she patted her lap.
Jisoo gasped.
Rosé dropped her phone.
Jennie stared at Lisa like she was testing her sanity… then slowly, gracefully, she stood up and sat on Lisa’s lap like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Silence.
Pure, stunned silence.
“…I take it back,” Rosé whispered. “That is DEFINITELY a cat.”
Jisoo wiped an imaginary tear. “A very expensive one.”
Jennie shot them a glare. “Do you both want to leave?”
“Nope,” Jisoo said instantly. “This is too entertaining.”
Lisa just laughed softly, arms wrapping around Jennie’s waist like she belonged there—which, honestly, she did.
“See?” Lisa said proudly. “She’s not a cat.”
Jennie hummed, leaning comfortably against her. “Exactly.”
Right on cue, she grabbed Lisa’s hand and gently played with her fingers, completely ignoring everyone else in the room.
Jisoo pointed again. “Clingy.”
Rosé added, “Territorial.”
“And high maintenance,” Jisoo finished.
Jennie rolled her eyes but didn’t move an inch. “At least I’m the favorite.”
Lisa didn’t even hesitate. “You are.”
All five cats, as if offended, meowed at once.
Love barked.
Chaos resumed.
Rosé sighed, stepping over a cat who had decided to become a floor decoration. “Lisa, your house is insane.”
Lisa just smiled, looking around at her pets… then down at Jennie, who was still comfortably settled in her arms.
“…Yeah,” she said softly. “But it’s perfect.”
Jennie glanced up at her, a small smile forming. “Obviously. I live here.”
Jisoo clapped once. “Conclusion: Lisa has one dog, five cats… and one premium, limited edition, luxury cat named Jennie Kim.”
Rosé nodded. “With the highest maintenance cost.”
Jennie smirked. “And yet… she still can’t live without me.”
Lisa tightened her hold around her, pressing a soft kiss to her temple.
“Never.”
The cats meowed again like they were protesting.
Love barked louder.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, Lisa just laughed—because honestly?
Her chaotic, fluffy, dramatic little family…
Was everything she ever wanted.
