Chapter 20

The girls came back about 3 hours later and Dani immediately went to find Megan who was in the bathroom taking her makeup off.

“Hi mi amor,” Dani smiled wrapping her arms around Megan’s body, the younger girl blushed at the pet name,”how was dinner at Lara’s ?”

“It’s was fun, i missed you tho.” Megan said pouting.
Daniela’s smiled widened at the admission,”i missed you too,” she said “but you wanna know what i did ?” She added unnable to hold it much longer.

Megan hummed watching her expectantly through the mirror.

“I called my parents,and well… i told them about you!” Dani said smiling brightly.

Megan’s eyes widened,”Really ? What did they say ?” She asked anxiously.

“Well they were happy for me, said they wanted to meet you as my girlfriend, but you know what’s funny ?” She asked.

Megan shook her head,”What ?” She tilted her head like a confused puppy.

“They already knew it was you.”

Megan’s eyes widened, “They did ? How ?”

“I don’t know, my mom said I talked about you a lot… and that it was obvious…” Daniela said cheeks reddening.

Megan grinned,”You talked about me a lot!” She said tone teasing.

“Shut up,”Daniela muttered hitting her shoulder, making the younger girl giggle.

“Wait!” Megan said suddenly, Dani hummed in response prompting her to continue,”that means i can finally tell my mom, right ?” She asked excitedly.

Daniela looked at her, soft smile on her lips,”Of course baby, i’m sorry you had to wait so long because of me..”

Megan frowned,”No dont say sorry, you needed time it’s normal,Megan frowned. “No, don’t say sorry. You needed time, it’s normal.”

Daniela looked down for a second, her grip around Megan tightening slightly. “Yeah, but still… thank you for waiting for me.”

Megan immediately turned around in her arms, nearly smearing makeup remover all over herself in the process. “Dani,” she said softly, cupping her cheeks, “you never have to thank me for that.”

Daniela’s expression softened completely, all warm eyes and pink cheeks.

God, Megan was gonna kill her one day.

“So…” Daniela said after a moment, a teasing grin slowly appearing again, “you’re really that excited to tell your mom about me, huh?”

Megan gasped dramatically. “Um, yes? My mother already loves you and she doesn’t even know we’re dating yet.”

Dani laughed. “That’s terrifying.”

“No, seriously!” Megan continued excitedly, grabbing Daniela’s hands now. “She always asks about you. Like every single call it’s ‘How’s Daniela? Tell Daniela I said hi. Is Daniela eating enough?'”(her moment usually asks about all the girls too, but thats irrelevent)

Daniela snorted. “Okay wow, your mom likes me more than she likes you.”

“Probably,” Megan nodded seriously.

That earned another laugh from Daniela, the sound warm and effortless.

Megan smiled at her for a second before suddenly squinting suspiciously. “Wait.”

Dani blinked. “What?”

“You called me baby earlier.”

Daniela immediately froze.

“…No I didn’t.”

“YES YOU DID!” Megan squealed, pointing at her accusingly. “You totally did!”

Dani groaned, hiding her face in Megan’s shoulder. “Oh my God.”

Megan looked downright delighted now. “Aww, Dani,” she teased, wrapping her arms around her neck, “that’s so gay of you.”

Daniela pulled back just enough to glare at her weakly. “Well yeah,” she muttered. “I’m starting to realize that.”

Megan burst out laughing, nearly losing balance, and Daniela instinctively grabbed her waist to steady her.

For a moment they just stood there smiling at each other, way too close, way too soft.

Then Megan’s expression brightened again. “Okay wait here.”

Before Daniela could even ask why, Megan rushed out of the bathroom barefoot, almost slipping in the hallway.

“MEGS CAREFUL-“

“I’M FINE!”

Daniela shook her head fondly, following after her slower this time.

When she entered the bedroom, Megan was already sitting cross-legged on the bed, phone in hand, visibly vibrating with excitement.

“You’re calling her right now?” Dani asked, amused.

Megan nodded aggressively. “Yes.”

“And you didn’t even think of calming down first?”

“No.”

Daniela laughed, climbing onto the bed beside her. Megan immediately grabbed one of her hands before hitting the call button.

The phone rang once.

Twice.

Then

“Meiyok!” her mom answered brightly. “Hi 寶貝!” [Baby]

Megan instantly lit up. “Hi, 媽咪!” [Mom]

Daniela smiled quietly beside her, thumb brushing against the back of Megan’s hand while she listened.

“How was dinner?” her mom asked. “Did Lara’s parents make too much food again?”

Megan laughed. “Obviously. I think I gained five pounds.”

“That’s what happens when you go there hungry,” her mom teased.

Megan grinned, then suddenly looked nervous again, her fingers tightening around Daniela’s hand.

Her mom noticed immediately. “What’s wrong?” she asked gently. “You sound excited.”

“I.. okay, wait, don’t freak out.”

Daniela had to bite back a laugh at that because Megan herself looked seconds away from freaking out.

“Megan,” her mom said slowly, already amused, “what did you do?”

“Nothing! Well.. not nothing.” Megan looked at Daniela briefly before continuing. “I just… need to tell you something.”

There was a small pause.

Then her mom’s voice softened instantly. “Okay, baby. Go ahead.”

Megan took a deep breath.

“So… you know how Dani and I are always together?”

Daniela snorted quietly beside her. Megan elbowed her without looking away from the phone.

“Yes,” her mom answered, sounding very entertained already.

“And you know how I talk about her all the time?”

“Mmhm.”

“And how she’s like… my favorite person ever?”

Daniela’s cheeks turned pink.

“Megan,” her mom laughed, “please get to the point before I die of old age.”

Megan groaned dramatically and hid her face in Daniela’s shoulder for one second before blurting out:

“Dani’s my girlfriend!”

Silence.

Megan froze.

“Oh my God,” she whispered immediately. “Why are you silent? Mom say something. Please don’t make it weird-“

Then suddenly her mom squealed so loudly they had to pull the phone away from their ears.

“I KNEW IT!”

Daniela burst out laughing.

Megan stared at the screen in betrayal. “YOU KNEW?!”

“MEGAN.” Her mom looked genuinely offended now. “Baby, please. You’ve been in love with that girl for years.”

Daniela nearly choked at that.

Megan’s face turned violently red. “Mom!”

“I’m serious!” she continued. “Do you know how many times you randomly brought her up during phone calls? Or smiled at your phone like an idiot and then pretended nothing happened when I asked?”

Daniela was openly laughing now, shoulders shaking against Megan’s.

“This is so humiliating,” Megan groaned, hiding her face in her hands.

“No, this is adorable,” her mom corrected instantly. Then her voice softened warmly. “I’m happy for you, sweetheart.”

Megan peeked through her fingers. “Really?”

“Of course really.” She smiled. “And honestly? I’m very happy it’s Daniela.”

Daniela blinked in surprise.

Megan noticed immediately and pulled her closer by the arm. “Wait, say hi to her!”

Before Daniela could protest, Megan shoved the phone directly in her face.

“Uh.. hi?” Daniela said awkwardly, laughing nervously.

“Daniela!” Megan’s mom greeted warmly. “Finally.”

Daniela immediately smiled at that. “Finally?”

“Oh please. You two were exhausting. I was waiting for this to happen.”

Megan gasped loudly in the background. “Mom!”

“What? It’s true.”

Daniela couldn’t stop smiling now, warmth blooming through her chest so intensely it almost hurt.

“And thank you,” Megan’s mom added more softly. “For making my daughter this happy.”

Daniela glanced toward Megan, who was already staring at her with unbearably soft eyes.

“She makes me happy too,” Daniela admitted quietly.

Megan made the most pathetic lovestruck noise imaginable.

Her mom laughed immediately. “Okay, I’m hanging up before I witness something embarrassing.”

“MOM'”

“I love you both,” she said quickly before ending the call.

The room fell quiet.

Then Megan slowly turned toward Daniela, eyes sparkling.

“Our moms ship us,” she whispered dramatically.

Daniela laughed so hard she fell sideways onto the bed, dragging Megan down with her.
