Chapter 7
Ellie’s POV:
During capture the flag, I stuck with Percy. Annabeth left us alone disapearing with a hat her mom gave her.
I huff, turning to my brother.
“Are you mad at me?” I ask him, and he turns to me with wide eyes.
“No, I mean, no.” I frown at his words, and he sighs.” I mean Im a little jealous… It’s just, I thought we would be going through all this together, and now–” I cut him off.
“We’re separated.” He nods.” I didn’t want things to be like this.” I whisper, and he sighs.
“I know, that’s why Im not mad at you, im just mad at the whole situation.” I nod at his words.” Im happy you know who your father is, and I’m trying to be happy you have more siblings, just promise me I’ll always be your favorite.” Percy jokes, and I giggle, throwing my arms around him.
“Of course, you’re my soul twin.”I tell him, we pull away and he holds up his pinky. I interlock it with mine.
When we pull away from each other, I look around and grow bored.” Now what?” I ask Percy, and he shrugs.
“Hell if I know.” he mutters. I sat down on a flat rock and lay back to cloud watch, as Percy started dancing a foot away.
Percy walked off muttering about having to go to the bathroom. When he came back, he lay back on a log and looked up at the sky.
“Hey, that cloud looks like a frog!” He points towards the sky, and I follow his finger and frown.
“No, it doesn’t,” I tell him, and he scoffs.
“Isn’t art subjective?” Percy asks, and I roll my eyes.
“Sure, but thats desnt look like a frog.” I tell him, and he hums.
“You’re right, you look like a frog.” I make a move to scoff, but it’s muffled by a hand as someone drags me to my feet.
I see Clarisse and her siblings walk past me and let out a muffled scream as they creep up on my brother.
“Nothing to say, huh?” Percy says cockily.” I guess if you don’t say anything, you must agree.” I roll my eyes, contemplating whether I should feel bad for the obvious beatdown he was about to get. Percy frowns,” E?” He calls out, opening his eyes he sits up, and spots me being held back, then his eyes land on Clarisse holding a spear.
She tosses her helmet off as Percy looks around nervously before he speaks.
“Flags that way. It’s not here.” Percy says, trying to get them to leave. He glances back at me and relaxes, knowing I’m relatively safe for the moment.
“We know.” Clarisse tells him.” Yeah, glory’s fine. Revenge is more fun.”
I fight the hold on me as Clarisse pounds her spear against the floor, the tip lights up orange from heat and electricity.
I whimper as the hold is too strong for me to break through, and I try to yell, shout for my brother to run, but the hand squeezing my cheeks were to tight.
Percy grabs his sword and shield as Clarisse stalks closer.
“No maiming. It’s like the one rule.” Percy says, and Clarisse smiles as she gazes at her spear.
“Yeah, I guess I’ll lose dessert privileges for a while. I’ll live.” She turns in my direction and nods.” Get her out of here.” My muffled screams vibrate against the hand as Im dragged away. I kick at the floor, trying to dig my feet into the dirt, but the person just lifts me up. I try to throw my head back, and they dodge.
” Cut it out!” The person snapped; it was a man’s voice that spoke. They drop me to the floor, and I crawl away before turning around to see Clarisse’s brother, who was in the bathroom last night.
“Fuck you!” I scream at him, and he smirks.
“You can if you want.” He reaches down and tugs on his pants, and I sneer. He chuckles, rolling his eyes.” Just relax, she’s only gonna hurt him a little.”
I pout and hold my cheeks, letting my lips quiver, and tears flow down my cheek. The guy’s eyes widen as he kneels beside me.
“Shit, did I hurt you? Clarisse will kick my ass.” He mutters the last sentence, as he reaches out for me, I grab his pointer and middle finger, bending them back until I hear a crunch.
He shouts as his two fingers break and I punch him in the nose. Blood spurts out splattering across my face, I jump up before he can stop me, and kick him in his face. He doesnt move as he splays across the ground falling hard, seemingly passed out.
I huff proudly.” I might not know how to use a sword, but I know how to throw a punch, asshole.” I mutter as I jog in the direction I thought Percy was in.
“Percy?!” I shout for my brother, hoping for him to yell out so I can find him. I reach the area we were and see Percy wasn’t here anymore.
I look around and let my intuition guide me, and soon I see a lake. Running along it, I find Percy, Clarisse, and her siblings.
I ran over to see Percy, who had gotten the girls spear stuck in his shield. Clarrise tried to use momentum to flip Percy over her with her spear, but as she did so, her spear snapped. I hesitate at the sight but keep moving.
Clarisse looks down at her spear and sees that Percy has the other half.
“No!” The girl screams bloody murder; it was so gut-wrenching you would have thought she witnessed a murder. She charges my brother, but I throw myself in front of him, and she grabs me instead. I flinch back as she yanks me closer so we were face-to-face.
She freezes her glare dropping as our eyes meet, and she snaps her head down to Percy, who was now standing up behind me. Before she could go for him, a horn blared out as the blue team came running onto the beach holding the red team’s flag.
Clarisse’s hands slipped from my armour, and she took a step back. I watch as she and her siblings walk off. Only now noticing how my hand throbed and ached.
But not all was bad, my brother was finally got claimed like he wanted. Percy, son of Posiedon.
