Chapter 2
“As soon as I started walking towards our table, I heard someone yell, “Y/N! Y/N!”
I looked around to try and find where that voice was coming from until my eyes landed on my old friend from Interpol, Emily Prentiss. I walk over to her table and see her sitting with two other women. She gets up for a hug, “Y/N L/N, I cannot believe that you’re here. It’s so good to see you! What are you doing in my neck of the woods?”
“Well, I could ask you the same thing. Last I checked you were in London with Interpol.”
“Well, I just missed it here, and Interpol got boring after a while,” one lady sitting at her table said, clearing her throat. Rolling her eyes, Emily said, “Y/N, these are my girlfriends Penelope Garcia and Jennifer Jareau, who work with me.”
I can’t help but look at the gorgeous blonde sitting at Emily’s table. I felt butterflies in my stomach, which I hadn’t felt in a long time. I gave her a smile, and she blushed a little bit.
“Very nice to meet you ladies,” I say, flashing a smile to the ladies.
“Sit down and chat for a sec.”
I sat down next to Jennifer, my heart started beating faster than usual.
“Wait a minute, did you say Y/N L/N?” Penelope asked.
“That is me, yes. Has Em told you terrible stories about me or something?”
“No not at all pumpkin, but before leaving work on Friday, Hotch told me that he may be hiring someone tomorrow and handed me your file. I did a little digging to get some extra background, and you have been a very busy lady… God, I knew I recognized you from somewhere!”
Emily’s eyebrow rose, “So, are we going to be working together again, L/N?”
“I hope so; I would love to get the amazing, dynamic duo back again. I just have to get through my interview tomorrow, and we shall see. I assume you guys know Derek. He and I go way back, and he told me about the position.” I get a text from Alex and get up from their table. “Em, I will probably see you tomorrow. My friend is blowing up my phone, so I’d better head back before she loses it. Jennifer and Penelope, it was a pleasure meeting you both, I hope we get to see each other again soon.
“Good luck with your interview tomorrow, Y/N, although you probably don’t need it,” Jennifer said to me with a warm smile.
“I appreciate it regardless. Bye, ladies.” I say looking at Jennifer.
*10 p.m.*
After a nice meal, Alex and I headed back to her home. The jet lag started catching up with me, so she drove us home. I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow.
*8 a.m.*
I wake up feeling super refreshed and energized. My interview was not until noon, so I had time to go for a jog. I got back from my jog an hour later and went to the store to pick up groceries for my famous French toast, which was Alex’s favorite. I got back and went to work. The smell of the food woke Alex up, and she came rushing down; she was already dressed for work.
“Is that what I think it is?”
“Sure is, you wouldn’t believe it, but I think it has improved since the last time you had it.”
We sat down and ate; then I went upstairs to shower when I heard a knock at the door, and Alex entered.
“Hey, Y/N/N, do you need anything before I leave?”
“I’m good, babe thank you”
I texted Derek that I was on my way, then I got dressed and drove to Quantico. I walked in, checked in at the front desk, and went up to the 6th floor. As the doors opened, I saw Morgan sitting there waiting for me. I walk out of the elevator and he gives me a hug.
“You ready hotshot?” Derek said shooting me with his smile.
“I’m more than ready, any tips you can give me before?”
“Based off of your experience I think you need to give me some tips.”
He walked me up to the Unit Chief’s office, where a tall man greeted me. He shut the door behind him, and we both sat at his desk. We both made some small talk before he started describing the position.
“So Y/N, in this role, you’ll act as a liaison between our team and police departments, managing cases that can be handled individually. You’ll take ownership of these cases, working directly with the departments, with travel provided as needed. When the team is deployed for larger operations, you’ll join us. An office will be provided to help with the organization. I understand you already have strong relationships with major city police departments, so I think this is a perfect role for you.”
“I do, the CIA allowed me to work with the U.S. police departments. This position was everything I was looking for and more.” I looked down at Jennifer.
“Enough said, I’ll start up the paperwork and send you everything you need to start the new-hire process. Your first day should be next Monday.”
I get up and shook his hand and he walked me out of his office, Emily and Derek are sitting in the kitchen and look over at me.
“Well, Y/N?” Em said to me looking worried.
“Well, looks like we are going apartment hunting.”
