Chapter 1
“Buttercup! Come back here!” Blossom yells. Buttercup just continues walking away from her.
“Come on Buttercup! At least listen to us!” Bubbles whines as she and Blossom run to catch up to Buttercup.
They finally caught up to her and dragged her into an empty classroom. They locked the door to make sure no one came in and interrupted them.
“What’s wrong w/ you two!?” Buttercup exclaims.
“You’ve been avoiding us all day!” Blossom says.
“No I’ve been avoiding those boys all day. You guys are just attached to their hips!” Buttercup yells at her.
“Enough! Buttercup why do you hate them so much?” Bubbles asks.
“We all know they’re the rowdyruff boys. But you guys don’t seem to care about that huh?” Buttercup says crossing her arms.
“But they haven’t attacked the city since joining the school! They even seem to be changing for the better!” Blossom argues.
“And what if it’s an act? Then how are you going to fight them w/ out giving away that you guys are their friends!” Buttercup argues back.
“We’ll be able to do it. But the boys heard that we used to be close friends and now they’re blaming themselves for you not being around! At least tell them it’s not their fault!” Bubbles says.
“No way because it is their fault! But it also your’s! If you guys weren’t around them constantly then I would still be hanging out w/ you two!” Buttercup states.
“You need to be nicer to them!” Blossom says.
“Why?! We’re not friends!” Buttercup says.
“Because it’s more suspicious that you hate them for no reason while your two friends are friends w/ them now. Unless you want people to realize who we are or think that you’re jealous.” Bubbles says poking the bear.
Buttercup hates when people assume things about her especially if they’re incorrect.
So Bubbles adding the last part was her way of pushing Buttercup to do what she wanted her to do.
“I’m not doing it!” Buttercup yells at them both then walks out of the room slamming the door behind her.
After school that day the girls were heading to the professor’s lab. So Buttercup was waiting for the others at the front of the school.
She heard giggling and turned to see the girls walking w/ the rowdyruff boys. When they noticed her they all waved.
Buttercup frowned.
That’s when she realized that she didn’t get a call from the professor on her belt but instead Blossom had told her that they were meeting the professor today.
Buttercup realizing she got tricked ignored them and started to skate away. It wasn’t long after that Butch came up skating beside her.
“Hey, Buttercup.. I was shocked to hear you agreed to show me some skate moves but the girls said you were happy to.” Butch says rubbing the back of his neck.
Buttercup screeched to a halt and turned to look at the girls. They just smiled and Blossom did nudging hand motions towards her.
Having had enough Buttercup did something she rarely ever did while skating.
She put both headphones in her ears full volume and skated at top speed away from them.
Butch has been to the skate parks a couple of times. So he learned that Buttercup actually got them to stop skating like that.
So now it’s an unwritten rule for skaters that if a skater does that, then leave them alone. Which often meant a break up a lot of times.
But Butch had a feeling that wasn’t it. So he went back to the group.
“How come you’re not skating after her Butch?” Blossom asked.
“Did you see what she did?” Butch asks.
“She only put her headphones on. I’ve seen skaters do that a lot of times.” Bubbles says clearly confused.
“She put both headphones on and turned it to max volume.” Butch says. His brothers tensed a bit and let out small gasps.
“What are we missing?” Blossom asks.
“That’s an unwritten rule to leave the skater alone when they do that.” Boomer tells the girls.
“But.. skaters were doing it all the time. When did this become a rule?” Bubbles asks.
“One day Buttercup got all the skaters together and managed to get them to stop just skating around like that.” Butch says.
“Then how did it become the secret way of saying leave me alone?” Blossom asks.
“Well there were some break ups and Buttercup noticed that a lot of people kept crowding these guys so she said if someone has both headphones in and full volume then leave them alone.” Brick explains.
“But why did she tell them to stop skating like to begin w/ and wouldn’t this cause that issue to come back again?” Bubbles asks.
“It was safety. No one could hear when someone said passing or when a car was coming. So there were a lot of injuries. But other skaters look out for these guys and typically skaters only do it at skate parks so that they can skate w/ out the worry of cars.” Butch says.
“Then why did she do it now?” Blossom asks.
“She’s pissed.” The boys all answered together.
“What?” Bubbles questions.
“Which brings me to my question. Did she really say she wanted to teach me some tricks?” Butch asks. The girls looked away.
“No. We’re sorry. We just thought that if it was skating related she may just do it and then she could get to know you better.” Blossom says.
Butch sighed.
“I’m going to head home to practice.” He says as he skates away.
For the next week Buttercup would ask for the class work then sit somewhere else and she did this for all of her classes.
Today is when there was this big physical test in gym class. So she couldn’t go anywhere else.
So Blossom and Bubbles asks if the teacher could pair them w/ the boys.
The teacher agreed seeing as she hasn’t ever gotten any trouble from the girls.
So as they were waiting for their names to be called w/ their partner’s name all the students were sitting down in a group.
Everyone was chatting. Buttercup was talking to the jocks. Her back turned on the girls and the rowdyruff boys.
Then the teacher came and got everyone’s attention. She listed off the partners.
When she got to Buttercup the loud and rowdy kids that she was just talking to fell silent immediately.
She said Buttercup is partners w/ Boomer.
But Buttercup immediately got up and went to one of the other boy, girl partners and asked if they wanted to switch partners.
They agreed and the girl went to work w/ Boomer and Buttercup worked w/ the guy. The teacher was shocked.
But seeing as three out of the four already seemed to be on the same page she just switched the partners.
It was after class when Bubbles and Blossom cornered Buttercup in the locker room.
“What the heck Buttercup?!” Blossom says.
“What?” Buttercup asks confused.
“Why did you have to embarrass Boomer like that!?” Bubbles exclaims.
“I only switched partners. How did that embarrass the little wimp?” Buttercup asks.
“Don’t call him that!?” Both the girls yell.
“Whatever. Besides I have a feeling you guys asked for the teacher to do that.” Buttercup says as she stands up and crosses her arms.
“We just asked to be paired w/ the guys! It’s not our fault that she thought you wanted to be paired w/ one of them too.” Blossom says.
“Just like how you just so happened to tell me that we were heading to the lab but came out walking w/ those boys and that green one thought I was going to teach him some skating tricks?” Buttercup asks.
“We thought if you spent time w/ at least one of them then you might start being friendly w/ them! If we knew you would have ditched him immediately then we wouldn’t have bothered.” Bubbles says.
“So his feelings matter but mine don’t?” Buttercup asks.
“Of course your feelings matter. But so do his! He and his brothers feel awful and you’re making them feel worse!” Blossom says.
“But what hurt them more? Me not wasting my time on them or you guys lying to them and getting their hopes up?” Buttercup asks.
“We were just trying to cheer them up and get you to open up to them a bit! But you can’t even try!” Bubbles says.
“I’ll give them a chance when you guys beat me in a sport.” Buttercup says leaving the locker room.
Pretty soon the whole school knew about the fight they had. The principal even called the girls and the Rowdyruff boys into his office.
“What’s going on between you six?” The principal asks.
“Those two won’t leave me alone and keep trying to put trash into my space.” Buttercup says.
“Oh come on! Don’t call them that and at least try to talk about them nicely!” Bubbles says.
“No. If you don’t like it then don’t listen.” Buttercup says.
“Buttercup just stop being so mean!” Blossom demands.
“No.” Buttercup says as she stands up and leaves the principal’s office. The girls were soon to follow her.
They were yelling at her and picking a fighting all while trying to catch up to her.
The principal called his brother the mayor and informed him of what’s happening w/ the girls.
The mayor told the professor. Which got him to call an emergency meeting after school the same day.
Since Buttercup has been doing her class work outside of class when she finished her last assignment of the day she turned it in then went to the lab.
Making her the first of the girls to arrive at the lab. They had to wait for school to completely finish before the other girls showed up.
When they walked in and saw Buttercup already there they wasted no time in starting an argument.
“Oh look who it is, Miss I don’t care about other’s feelings!” Blossom says.
“Be careful Bloss we wouldn’t want her to start calling you trash for simply being close to her and talking.” Bubbles says glaring at Buttercup.
“Little miss pushy and people pleaser over there, mind shutting up so that the professor can start this meeting?” Buttercup says.
“I don’t know mind not being a bitch?” Bubbles asks. This got Buttercup to freeze.
Not to mention how the professor, Ken, poochi, the mayor, and Miss Bellum were all staring at her shocked.
This was the first time any of them heard Bubbles cuss!
“I swear how did we never notice how rude and mean you are before?” Blossom says shaking her head.
“You guys know what? Don’t look at me, don’t talk to me, hell you’re barely allowed to acknowledge me when we’re fighting as the Powerpuff girls! Also don’t come crying to me when those boys show their true colors!” Buttercup says standing up and storming off.
But before she could get out the door. Blossom and Bubbles stopped her. They grabbed her and pushed her onto the couch.
“We haven’t had our meeting yet, meat head.” Blossom says sitting down.
“Shut the hell up. This is probably why you can’t ever get a boyfriend. Too whiny and prissy, bossy, and naggy.” Buttercup says looking at the professor.
“Don’t talk about Blossom that way!” Bubbles exclaims.
“Or what? Are you the wanna be fashionista gonna try and sew my mouth shut? Even though you can’t even sew a decent outfit. Not to mention how childish you are. I swear your grandma should have put you in a hospital to be tested by now.” Buttercup says.
The professor, Ken, Poochi, the Mayor, and Miss Bellum all watched in shock and horror as the girls continued to argue and insult each other.
This soon turned into a full on fist fight. Which Buttercup obviously won. But the other two had transformed and fought her powered up.
Even though Buttercup herself never transformed. Yet she still managed to beat them. But she was a bit bruised and bloody due to the disadvantage.
“Girls… What started all of this?” The professor asks regaining his senses.
“The rowdyruff boys go to our school now. These two befriended them and have been trying to force me to be friends w/ them too!” Buttercup says.
“What!?” Everyone except the girls exclaimed.
“What? If they are still bad it’s good to be close so that we know what they’re up too. But if they’re not then that means we got some new friends. It’s a win-win.” Blossom says.
“But you can’t force Buttercup to join you.” The professor scolds.
“Wait a second professor Buttercup is the strongest. Even w/ out her powers she beat those two while they were using their powers.” Ken says.
“But I think that since no one told any of us anything I’m going to assume they didn’t say it like they explained it to us the same as when they told Buttercup.” Miss Bellum points out.
“Ok, then what do you suggest?” The professor asks her.
“Asks Buttercup if she wants to join them. If she still says no then make sure the other girls don’t force her into it again.” Miss Bellum says.
“Alright. So Buttercup what’s your answer?” Ken asks.
“I’m not doing it.” Buttercup says flatly.
“Alright.” The professor says.
“Ugh! Buttercup why do you have to be such a brute all the time!” Blossom yells.
“I wish you could at least act more like a girl! Then you’ll be more likable too!” Bubbles adds.
“And I wish that you guys weren’t here when I first came here when we first got our powers. Or better yet that I never got any powers to begin w/ because meeting you two was the worse thing to ever happen to me.” Buttercup says and leaves the lab.
After that night the girls ignored each other. They even changed the seating chart so that they weren’t so close to one another.
Buttercup no longer hanging out w/ the other two got back into sports like she used to be. But since she got so much exercise she was better than ever.
Meanwhile the girls were hanging out w/ the boys a lot. Eventually Boomer and Bubbles started dating and so did Brick and Blossom.
Which left Butch out of some plans or left him to be a third or in some cases fifth wheel.
Months passed as the girls started leading their separate lives. Of course whenever a villain attacked they all got together.
They learned in the past not to let fights come between them when it came to being the Powerpuff girls.
So they endured having to be around each other. They already kinda had a pattern of their attacks.
So they never really needed to talk. Which means they would go into the fight, assess the situation then do one of their fighting patterns.
Which worked better since it left less room for the villain to attack or cause further damage.
But after the months of them living like that something had to have changed. And it wasn’t in a good way.
Boomer and Brick broke up w/ the girls. And when the girls asked why they said because they couldn’t leave their brother out any more.
Then the same day they were already dating someone new. When confronted on how fast they moved on the boys acted hostile.
In fact shades of the old Rowdyruff boys showed. Then the weeks that followed they started getting more and more hateful and violent.
It was then that the girls realized that they often went to Buttercup for support. Though she wasn’t good w/ emotions.
She was however good at sitting there and listening letting them get it all out of their systems.
They also realized how bad they were actually treating her.
So one day they waited for her in the classroom then apologized to her publicly. But Buttercup ignored them completely and went to her seat.
Already knowing of the bad break up the girls had some students, had already switched seats to keep the boys away from them.
Buttercup of course already knew the whole situation. Before she might have said she told you so to them.
But now after all that they said and did to her she felt indifferent. So she didn’t reach out nor did she offer any support.
