They ended up taking out most of the love confessions, deciding that they wanted to keep it to themselves, yet the second they greeted their family and Abigail at Taylor’s Nashville house, the redhead raised both eyebrows.
“Anything you want to tell me?”
“You gotta watch the documentary first, it’s the prequel,” Cameron breezed by with a glass of wine and pulled the redhead into a side hug. “We’ll talk after.”
Austin arrived after, and Cameron gave him a tight hug and looked up at his height. “I swear last time you weren’t this tall.”
“You’re just short,” Austin rolled his eyes and pulled his older sister into a side hug before walking into the room. Cameron huffed, taking another sip of her wine before closing the door behind her and settling down beside Taylor in the living room. They watched most of the documentary in silence, and Abigail kept turning her head to where Taylor and Cameron were nestled comfortably on the love seat. Cameron just raised her glass in greeting before laying her head back on Taylor’s chest.
Mama Swift applauded Taylor for the heartfelt documentary after it was done, and Scott clapped Taylor on the back. They moved to the dining table afterwards, and Taylor brought pots of food to the table with Cameron’s help, and they ate while Taylor asked for constructive criticism.
“So, are we just going to ignore the fact that our girl Taylor confessed her love for someone that is not Joe in the documentary?” Abigail was the one who spoke up, while everyone else exchanged looks.
“Are you still dating the Joe guy, honey? I thought you broke up with him,” Andrea frowned and looked up at her daughter, who swallowed.
“Yeah, we’re not dating anymore. I’m actually dating someone else now,” Taylor glanced at Cameron to her left, who flashed her a smile and two thumbs up.
Andrea sighed in relief and dug back into her food. “Oh, thank god. I thought for a second you and Cameron broke up again.”
Again?
Cameron tried to keep the confusion out of her voice as she spoke up. “Again? What do you mean we broke up again?”
“Well, I thought that was what all the tears and sad songs were earlier this year, I never saw Taylor moped around so much,” Andrea shrugged nonchalantly. “Why? Am I misreading something?”
Abigail was the one who cut in before Taylor could deny her mother’s words. “Of course not, Mama Swift. They’ve basically been together for thirty years now except they are both cowards and aren’t actually together. January to August was just them moping their friendship.”
Taylor gasped. “I am not a coward. I’ll have you know Cameron and I are now officially together.”
“HA!” Austin dropped his forks on the table and stood up, turning to Abigail with a smug grin. “You owe me a hundred bucks. You too, dad.”
Cameron glanced between the three of them with a look of betrayal. They were betting on her love life? “I can’t believe you’re all betting on us.”
“If you waited for one more month, I would’ve won. I bet that you won’t get together until twenty-twenty,” Abigail grumbled as she reached into her purse and handed Austin a wade of cash. “Thanks a lot.”
“I’m sorry my love confession inconvenienced you,” Taylor was still staring intensely as her brother counted off the cash. Cameron, on the other hand, chose to use this moment to shove the rest of her food into her mouth so she could get seconds before anyone else finished. “Hey, at least this means that you won the best friend war.”
That brought Cameron out of her trance and she quickly chewed and swallowed her food. “WHAT? No she didn’t!”
“You’re my only girlfriend, no competition,” Taylor grinned brightly, and Cameron all but melted in her chair. She blushed, and Taylor leaned forward to press a quick kiss to her lips. It still felt surreal, but this was a new part to their relationship that Cameron was absolutely not against.
“You two are so gross,” Abigail grumbled, and Scott smiled brightly at his daughter. Mama Swift sent a knowing wink to Cameron, who blushed again. All in all, apparently they were both idiots because everyone around them knew before they did.

Twenty-twenty started with the release of Miss Americana, and the rumour of Joe and Taylor’s break up was quickly confirmed by Tree, who Cameron still held a grudge of. Because that woman was evil, no one could convince her otherwise.
Just before tour was supposed to start, the world was hit with the news of a pandemic, and what was supposed to be a three weeks lock down turned into empty streets and quiet roads with Cameron going crazy inside her own apartment because she had not seen her girlfriend in three weeks and godamit, she has the right to miss her.
They did FaceTime everyday, but Cameron wanted more. Morning kisses and midday cuddles and three meals together. Her editing job moved online, and they have a zoom meeting three times a week while Cameron looked over different manuscripts on its way to being published. On the side, she was working on her own little project, a love triangle with two girls and a guy in the summer. Betty, August, James.
It was more geared towards teens, which is a genre Cameron doesn’t explore much, but this story came to her after a call with Taylor and she just had to write it down. The characters were high school juniors, the summer before their senior year, James cheated on Betty with August, and the something is going to happen and then Betty and August will get together. Cameron hadn’t yet figured out what that something was, but she thought she would climb that hill when she got to it.
The point was, she missed her girlfriend, and the perfect opportunity came when her landlord’s son got kicked out of his own apartment after being fired from his work, which then led to her landlord kicking Cameron out of the apartment so his son has a place to stay. Cameron thought the landlord’s face to her reaction was quite funny, apparently not a lot of people gets really excited to be kicked out of their apartment.
She already had most of her stuff packed anyways, she wanted to move closer to her mother in Nashville during the lockdown, and her job now being online gave her the perfect opportunity.
“My landlord is kicking me out of my apartment.” Cameron broke the news on their afternoon calls, and Taylor paused with concern.
“What? Seriously? Where did he think you were going to go in the middle of the pandemic?”
“Well, I was going to move back in with my mom, I have been planning on going back to Nashville for a bit,” Cameron shrugged and showed Taylor her boxed up kitchen. “I was thinking of just renting a U-Haul and driving back there, it’s a fourteen hour drive, it isn’t that bad.”
Taylor had a looked in her eyes, and Cameron raised her eyebrows. “Well, it seems we both have plans to move back to Nashville because I’m planning to move back to the Nashville home, this apartment is driving me crazy. We should drive up there together! And don’t even think about moving back to your home, you can stay with me, I’m going crazy without your cuddles.”
“Who knew I could make the Taylor Swift cuddle deprived,” Cameron teased, and the blonde pouted.
“I miss my girlfriend, is that so much of a crime?”
“Nope, I’ll pick you up tomorrow, how does that sound? And I can help you finish packing whatever else you need me to pack.”
“Deal!”
They spent the rest of their call in silence, with Cameron working on her story and Taylor working on packing up the rest of her apartment.

“I can’t believe we became one of those U-Haul lesbians,” Cameron laughed as she drove up to Taylor’s apartment, which was void of any paparazzis for the first time in years. Her own stuff was already in the back of the trunk, and she helped Taylor with the last of her boxes. They were both wearing masks, and if Cameron does say so herself she looked quite fashionable.
“I’m the U-Haul bisexual actually, I don’t know about you,” Taylor slipped into the driver’s side after many complaints from Cameron, who slumped down in the passenger seats after closing and making sure the door was secure in the back. “I mean you dated Drew, he was really sweet honestly, helped me with some of my songs, but I don’t recall any other?”
“See, I tried on boys, then decided it was not for me so after that I was like, I’m probably a lesbian. But then occasionally I see guys that I think are nice looking, for a little bit, then I blink and then they look ugly again. So who knows what I am?” Cameron laughed as Taylor took off her mask, started the GPS, and pulled away from her street. “Hey, don’t you think I look really cute in this mask?”
“I always think you look cute,” Taylor glanced over at the brunette in the red light, and Cameron grinned brightly and finally pulled off the mask. “You know what I want to know though? How the paparazzi had never caught a photo of you leaving my apartment? All my other ex-lovers had their pictures taken.”
Cameron made herself comfortable on the seat and watched as the empty streets passed them by. It was honestly weird, seeing New York completely empty, it was like a scene straight out of one of Cameron’s sci-fi books.
“Well, sometimes they are really stupid and forget that back doors and side doors exists. So most times I go through there, and my face isn’t really that well known unless you read sapphic sci-fi slash adventure novels, so it wasn’t like they would know who I am. I also climbed out your window once.”
Taylor slammed on the brakes a little harder than necessary, and Cameron grinned. “You what?”
“Don’t worry, they didn’t even notice,” Cameron shrugged, before frowning again. “Actually, I think one did and published an article about a stalker breaking into your apartment. They got a really flattering angle of my ass you won’t believe it.”
“Oh my gosh.”
“I know,” Cameron flipped her hair dramatically and Taylor laughed, shaking her head. “Insane is my middle name.”
“Now it isn’t, it’s Mae.”
Cameron paused and looked over to her left, where Taylor hummed quietly to herself and refused to look her in the eyes. “Wait, what are you not telling me?”
Taylor mimicked zipping her lips and threw the keys out of the closed windows.
“Taylor!” Cameron was whining, she knew she was, but this was important business. “Baby, my darling, my love, love of my life, sweetie pie, Tay Tay, pleaseee.”
This ride was going to drive Cameron crazy, she just knew it.
