Cameron saw less of Lizzie after going back to New York, but she doesn’t blame her girlfriend. She was offered a role in Silent House, and Cameron knew only an idiot would turn down a role. But it meant their New York flat was down to one person and seeing as no one was willing to share a room, Cameron gotta keep the master bedroom for when Lizzie does come back. She flew back to NYU for her test, but other than that, she had been relying heavily on Aaron’s notes to carry her through her classes.
“What do you think is the quickest way to kill someone? Choking them with one’s thighs or shooting them through the heart?” Cameron looked up from her laptop, only to be met with two sets of wide eyes. Aaron and Evelyn exchanged a look before moving closer to the brunette. Evelyn placed a hand on Cameron’s forehead.
“Are you okay? We know you’ve been missing Lizzie but you really don’t have to contemplate murder, honey,” Evelyn gave Cameron a motherly look and batted her hand away. “I mean I can pay for an amazing lawyer but-”
“Cammy, I don’t want to be rude, but you will not survive prison,” Aaron pointed out. He ignored Cameron’s murderous glare and shoved a handful of chips into his mouth before going back to his football games.
Cameron hit Aaron over the head with a pillow. “I could definitely survive prison! And not that you asked, but this is for my story.”
Evelyn perked up immediately and jumped up. “Ooh! Wait, can I read it, please? You never show it to me. And I’ve been hearing so much teaser about it. And now potential murder is in it?!”
“It’s on its final draft, I’m sending it to an agency soon, don’t get your hopes up yet,” Cameron grinned, shutting her laptop down. Before Evelyn could reply, Cameron’s phone started ringing and her eyes lit up when she saw Taylor’s name.
“Is it Lizzie?” Aaron looked up at the mention of Lizzie’s name, but Cameron shook her head.
“Nope, just Taylor,” Cameron grinned, getting up and grabbing her laptop. “I’ll see you lads later.”
Evelyn had an unreadable expression on her face and Aaron lost interest and went back to his football game. Cameron decided to push it away to her ‘deal with later’ box. She has a call with her best friend for now.
“Hey Taylor, what’s up?”
Her cherry smile faded when she heard a sob from the other end of the line. “Taylor? What’s wrong?”
“I’m outside, please, I need you.” Her voice sounded so small and Cameron’s heart broke for her best friend. She quickly placed her laptop on her desk before going out of her room, shooting both Evelyn and Aaron a threatening look.
“This is best friend business, just pretend you aren’t here,” Cameron pointed a finger at both of them before opening the front door, to find her best friend standing there with red puffy eyes. She ushed Taylor in and led her to her bedroom. Taylor had Cameron’s address for a while but she never got a chance to visit. Cameron shut the door as soon as Taylor got through and pulled the crying woman into her arms.
Taylor fell apart, and Cameron gently brought Taylor to the floor with her so that they were leaning against her bed. “What happened? Who do I need to murder?”
“You won’t survive prison,” Taylor mumbled into her shoulder, her hand clung tightly around Cameron’s t-shirt. Cameron wrapped her arms tightly around the trembling blonde.
“You’re the second person to tell me that today,” Cameron whined, pressing her chin to the top of Taylor’s head.
“That means it’s true,” Taylor fisted her shirt tighter before a fresh wave of sob wrecked her body again. Cameron had never felt more helpless in her life, and she found herself holding onto Taylor tighter, if only to offer some sort of comfort and protection against the outside world.
“I’m here, I’m not going anywhere,” Cameron whispered into Taylor’s hair, and Taylor only sobbed harder. Okay, Cameron had never felt more like she failed her best friend than she does now.
“Okay,” her voice was so small. “John and I broke up-”
“That bitch! Where does he live? I promise I won’t go to prison, I’ll just wreck his car,” Cameron looked down at her best friend, who was still hiding her face but Cameron could feel a small smile against her skin. “Please? Abigail can help me, she’ll be totally on board with this idea. I can even egg his house.”
Taylor let out a choked laugh, using one of her hands to wipe the tears streaming down her face. But she refused to pull away. “That’s sweet, Camry. But it’s just the icing on the cake.”
“Who else do I need to avenge you from?” Cameron hugged Taylor tighter, no trace of a joke in her voice.
“My parents are getting a divorce-”
“WHAT?! Andrea and Scott?” Cameron blinked numbly. She can’t say she didn’t see it coming, with all of the arguments that occur in their house during their childhood, but Cameron never thought it would actually lead to divorce. Given she never had a father figure growing up so she wouldn’t know what normal couple arguments are, but she never expected the Swifts to get a divorce.
“They told me they only stayed together for me, to see my career take off, and I can’t believe I didn’t notice they were sleeping in different rooms. I can’t believe I hold them back from doing something that can make them happy…” Taylor trailed off, looking up at Cameron. “They told me they fell out of love. And then well… I guess I did some self reflection and realized I can’t be stuck in a one way love street.”
“Self worth is really important,” Cameron agreed, and Taylor let out a small smile. “How are you coping with it?”
“I gave John the decency of breaking up in person. But I came to New York for you. Can you teach me how to ice skate?”
Cameron pulled away from her best friend for a moment and did a thorough look over. “Who are you and what have you done with Taylor Swift?”
“Just be thankful that I’m not dying my hair or shaving it off. This is a break-up distraction,” Taylor muttered, hiding her face in Cameron’s shirt again.
“But you hate ice skating!”
“I’m trying something new,” Taylor defended herself. “And this is a good break-up strategy considering what you did when Drew broke up with you.”
“I cut my hair because it was about time for it to get cut!” Cameron protested. “But fine, I will teach you ice skating. But you do not get to complain about your ass hurting.”
Taylor pulled Cameron into a tight hug. “Thank you.”
Cameron would walk the ocean if Taylor asked her to.

Cameron walked back into her shared flat with a grin, holding up a book as soon as she walked through the door. Evelyn pushed Aaron onto the ground in a haste to get up from the couch, and Lizzie laughed as she was pushed away before she could properly kiss her girlfriend.
“Kisses come later, book first!” Evelyn squealed, grabbing the cover and hugging it close to her chest. “My baby, I have been waiting for you for three years.” Evelyn looked up suddenly to give Cameron a glare. “You know most babies are made in nine months, right?”
“You can’t rush creativity,” Cameron shrugged, pulling Lizzie into her arms and giving her a kiss. “Now is girlfriend time. Go enjoy the book!”
“I will!” Evelyn rushed off towards her room, and they all laughed when they heard the slam of her door. Evelyn is a bookworm through and through, although she would never admit it. But Cameron knew that fantasy and romance was her kryptonite.
Lizzie turned back to Cameron with a raised eyebrow. “You weren’t that happy to see me when you came back from filming.”
“Was the three hour long sex not to your pleasing, my lady?” Cameron took one of Lizzie’s hands and kissed it gently. Her girlfriend rolled her eyes, but pulled her back into a kiss.
“I’m really proud of you, Cameron. I think it’s going to become a bestseller,” Lizzie wrapped her arms around Cameron’s neck. “And I get to say I was the second person to ever read that book. Oh gosh, Evelyn is totally going to kill you for one part-”
“You’ll protect me, right?” Cameron pouted, fluttering her eyelashes.
Lizzie pushed her away. “Just for killing my favorite character, I will not.”
“It wasn’t that bad. It’s just a character!”
“Tell that to Taylor.”
Cameron pouted at the mention of her best friend. She had been bringing up the death of one of the side characters every single possible moment during their calls, she even wrote a song about it. Which was saying something. “She wrote a song about it.”
“That I need to hear-”
“Well… Speak Now is coming out tomorrow…” Cameron grinned when Lizzie’s eyes widened at the sudden reminder.
“Wait- Cameron quick, you need to break up with me,” Lizzie grabbed onto both of Cameron’s hands. “I need to experience the album in full.”
“You can do that while being with me!” Cameron protested. Lizzie gave her a look.
