“I love your girlfriend, she’s so nice and cool,” Taylor sighed as she slumped down on the couch. Cameron glanced over at her best friend, a pout on her lips. Lizzie was dragged out by Cameron’s mom as soon as they entered her house and with a reassuring smile, Lizzie followed Madison into the car as they bonded over a shared love for movies.
“Go get your own girlfriend, I’m keeping this one,” Cameron pouted, a small blush coloring her cheeks. Sometimes she still couldn’t believe she could get a girlfriend like Lizzie, there had to be some miracle involved in this. Maybe she was a saint in her earlier life.
“Sorry babe, but I’m straight,” Taylor sighed almost regretfully. “Plus I have a boyfriend.”
Cameron raised an eyebrow as she watched the blonde move towards her so that she was draped across Cameron’s lap. Cameron ran a hand through Taylor’s hand almost instinctively. “Ah, you’re still dating that Johnny guy?”
“John, yeah, what’s with the tone?” Taylor glanced up at Cameron with a frown. “He’s nice, he loves me, I love him. It’s good, it’s going well, why are you looking at me like that?”
Cameron looked at her best friend with skepticism. “You know, I searched him up for you when you said you started dating this famous guy. I just don’t think he’s right for you! I’ve read about all of the girls that came before you, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I won’t get hurt,” Taylor moved away and crossed her arms across her chest. “Why does everyone assume I’m this fragile human that can’t handle a man? He loves me, what more do you need?”
“He’s thirty-two,” Cameron gave Taylor a pointed look. It wasn’t like she doesn’t support her best friend, but Taylor was only nineteen. Don’t get her wrong, she loves Taylor, but sometimes she just wants to hit her best friend over the head with the thirteen years age gap between her and that sorry excuse of a man. “You’re taking this love for thirteen too far. Thirteen year age gap is just too much.”
“Like you’re one to judge! Sandra Bullock is twenty-five years older than you!” Taylor complained, and Cameron raised an eyebrow again.
“So?”
“So it’s basically the same thing!” Taylor exclaimed, and Cameron rolled her eyes.
“It is not the same. She’s a celebrity crush, Even though I’m crushing on her there’s no way we’ll ever be together so it doesn’t count,” Cameron shrugged. “Just because you like Tim McGraw doesn’t mean you have any chance with that man. Actually, with the way you’re going maybe you will.”
Taylor huffed. “Can’t my best friend just be supportive?”
“With a guy like Johnny, no,” Cameron glared at the blonde. “Get your shit together and run away. You should break up with him through a phone call, that will show him.”
A pillow flew past her head, and Cameron gasped in offense.
“Oh, it is so on.”
She grabbed the nearest pillow and flung it toward her best friend, who’s eyes widened moments before the pillow hit her straight in the face. Taylor was quick to throw another one, but Cameron dogged out of the way with a cackle, before running, flinging another pillow towards her best friend. When they were both out of the pillow, Cameron tackled the blonde, the two of them falling towards the carpeted floor.
Taylor gasped, laughing as she laid beneath Cameron, who rested her head on Taylor’s chest, gasping for breath. “I’m too old for this.”
“You’re nineteen,” Taylor laughed, wrapping her arms around Cameron before flipping them over so that she was looming over her best friend. “And I believe I won.”
“By cheating, I was taking a breath,” Cameron protested, her heart pounding as Taylor glanced down at her while her blonde hair fell, framing her face.
“Only old people take breaks,” Taylor rolled off so she was laying flat beside Cameron. “But seriously, he’s sweet. I know what I’m doing.”
“Okay,” Cameron rolled over to face the blonde. “But I will be here with a hug and an ‘ I told you so’ when he ultimately breaks your heart.”
Taylor rolled her eyes, but opted out on commenting. She rolled over so that she was facing Cameron as well. “So how did someone like you end up with an angel like Lizzie?”
Cameron gasped in offense. “You’re my best friend, you should be supporting me through this!”
“You’re a devil, but in a cute way,” Taylor booped Cameron’s nose, before ruffling her hair. Cameron shifted away, trying to tidy up her hair, something she was immensely proud of (that took her hours to style) and she was not about to let anyone ruin it.
“I am not cute,” Cameron huffed and picked herself up from the floor, just as the front door opened and Madison walked into the horror that had become of her living room.
Cameron straightened up as Taylor patted her shirt up and stood beside her best friend with a guilty look. Madison glanced at the two of them, before shaking her head. Lizzie stifled a laugh as Madison turned towards her with an exasperated sigh. “You see what I have to deal with growing up?”
“I have to deal with this everyday, Madison,” Lizzie laughed and ruffled Cameron’s already messed up hair. She pouted and tried to wrack her girlfriend’s hand away. Cameron barely resisted before Lizzie’s arms were wrapped around her midsection and Cameron squealed but leaned back against her girlfriend, tilting her head slightly to peck her lips.
“How was the outing with my mother?”
“Quite insightful really, we have a really intellectual discussion about the movie industry and what film and company I should or shouldn’t audition for. Did you know she used to be an actress?” Lizzie’s eyes lit up with excitement as she talked and Cameron found herself drawn to it.
“My mom was an actress?” Cameron interrupted midway, but she felt as if it was warranted. Her mother was an actress and didn’t tell her?!
“A long time ago, dear!” Madison called from the kitchen. “Why don’t you help me with this next batch of cookies, Taylor? Leave the two lovebirds alone.”
Taylor got up eagerly, turning to Lizzie and Cameron. “Some of us are blessed with the curse of liking men, but you two are super cute. Remind me to show you this song I was working on later, Lizzie.”
Lizzie nodded excitedly, and if she wasn’t currently cuddled up to Cameron, the latter knew that she would’ve been jumping around in joy.
“Barely a day and you already replaced me,” Cameron pressed her hand into her chest, feign falling over. “I’m hurt.”
“You should’ve gone into a career of acting,” Taylor stuck her tongue out before following Madison into the kitchen.

Like a Christmas tradition, Cameron invited Taylor to their usual skating rink on Christmas day. She was going to spent it indoor with Lizzie and Taylor but Lizzie got called in from an audition company she couldn’t refuse and Cameorn knows how important the call was for her girlfriend, so Lizzie had packed with a haste with a promise to see her back in New York before catching the nearest flight back.
So once again they were back on the ice, with a graceful brunette and a blonde complaining loudly for the whole rink to hear.
“If you keep complaining they might kick me out, and I love this rink,” Cameron shoved Taylor, who gasped and ran forward to brace herself against the wall. If look could kill, Cameron knew she would be dead. “Stop being so dramatic, I didn’t even push that hard.”
“Might I remind you what happened the last time we were here?”
“We have a talk about my name being in your next album,” Cameron blinked up innocently at the blonde before taking her hand and dragging her away from the wall of safety. “Come on, I promise you we won’t fall this time! I’ve been teaching private lessons back in New York, and I’ll have you know one of my students is on her way to becoming a huge name in the industry, I just know it.”
Taylor reluctantly let go of the wall and allowed her best friend to lead the way. “And I just know you’re stroking your own ego.”
“I have an idea, you can write about meeting me in a cafe since I’m working in one now,” Cameron wiggled her eyebrow suggestively. Taylor cursed her damn toe pick when she accidentally kicked one again, and Cameron barely managed to hold on before the two of them toppled over. Cameron huffed. “You could’ve just told me the idea was bad. But I’ll have you know I’m getting a degree in creative writing, so it can’t be that bad.”
“I will be more susceptible to suggestions when I have my feet flat on the ground,” Taylor eagerly reached for the wall again when Cameron got tired and leaned up against one for rest. “You know, you’re giving me a bad impression of you being a skating teacher. Are you sure you can actually teach something?”
Cameron hit her. “I will have you know I am the most highly recommended one by my boss, thank you very much. And you should still consider putting my name on that album. Abigail’s name is in it too.”
Cameron blinked innocently up at Taylor, a pout on her lips. Taylor looked away. “I will consider your cafe idea. If you get me off this ice. We can write it together if you want.”
“YES!” Cameron made an excited spin around the ice, and Taylor smiled in response.
“Okay, now get me off this ice, I want to feel solid ground.”
“Aye aye, my love,” Cameron bowed dramatically and started pulling her best friend toward the entrance.
