Chapter 60

Requested – Robomia09

The Katseye house was buzzing – music playing, outfits being chosen, makeup bags exploding across the living room. The girls were hyping each other up for a night out, and you were sitting on the edge of Dani’s bed, watching her stretch out her legs after hours of practising choreography.

She looked exhausted – hair tied up messily, hoodie slipping off one shoulder, cheeks flushed from exertion.

“Come with us,” you said, nudging her foot gently. “It’ll be fun.”

She shook her head, smiling softly. “I’m dead, Y/N. I’ve been dancing since ten this morning. My legs are going to fall off.”

You pouted dramatically. “Then I’ll stay home with you.”

“No,” she said immediately, sitting up straighter. “Absolutely not. You’ve been looking forward to this all week.”

“I’d rather be with you.”

She rolled her eyes, but her cheeks warmed. “Stop being cute. Go have fun with the girls.”

You leaned closer. “Are you sure?”

She cupped your cheek with her hand, thumb brushing your skin. “I’m sure. I’ll be right here when you get back.”

You smiled, leaning into her touch. “Promise?”

She kissed you – soft, slow, warm. “Promise.”

You kissed her again, lingering. “Okay. I’ll miss you.”

She laughed. “You’re going to be gone for like 4 hours.”

“Still.”

She kissed your forehead. “Go. Before I change my mind and trap you here.

You grinned, gave her one last kiss, and headed out with the girls.

*

The Uber pulled up outside a neon-lit building pulsing with bass, and the moment you stepped out with the girls, the night wrapped around you – warm air, city lights, the thump of the music vibrating through the pavement.

Sophia linked her arm through yours. “Y/N, tonight we are forgetting responsibilities.”

Megan raised her drink-hand like she was making a toast to the sky. “And hydration.”

Manon snorted. “You mean dehydration.”

“Same thing,” Megan said.

You laughed, letting the energy pull you in.

*

The second you walked in, the music hit you – loud, heavy, addictive. Lights flashed across the dance floor in pinks and blues, bodies everywhere, the air warm with perfume and excitement.

Lara grabbed your hand. “Dance floor. Now.”

You didn’t even get a chance to answer – she dragged you straight into the crowd, the others following behind like a chaotic train.

The beat dropped, and suddenly you were surrounded by the girls – laughing, dancing, hair flying, drinks sloshing slightly as they moved.

Yoonchae was the first to go feral, jumping up and down to the beat, her ponytail whipping around. “THIS IS MY SONG!” she yelled, even though it definitely wasn’t.

Sophia spun you around dramatically. “Y/N, you’re dancing with me.”

You laughed, letting her twirl you, your head light from the music and the drinks.

Manon was more subtle – swaying, smiling, sipping her drink like she was in a music video. “You look cute tonight,” she said, bumping her shoulder into yours.

Megan was already making friends with strangers, hyping up random people on the dance floor. “YES GIRL, GET IT!” she yelled at someone she’d never met.

Lara leaned in close to you, shouting over the music. “We should do this more often!”

You nodded, breathless from dancing. “We should!”

*

After a few songs, you all stumbled toward the bar, laughing and clinging to each other like you’d just survived a natural disaster.

“Shots?” Megan said.

“Yes,” Yoonchae said.

“Absolutely not,” Sophia said.

Manon just smirked, already hollering at a bartender.

“Y/N decides,” Lara said, turning to you.

You shrugged. “Shots.”

The girls cheered like you’d just announced world peace.

The bartender lined them up, and you all clinked glasses.

“To Dani letting Y/N out of the house!” Megan declared.

You rolled your eyes, smiling. “She didn’t let me out. I escaped.”

The girls cackled.

*

The music shifted into something deeper, bass vibrating through your chest. The girls pulled you back into the crowd, and soon you were dancing again – hair sticking to your forehead, cheeks warm, body loose with the rhythm.

Sophia grabbed your hands and spun you until you were dizzy. Manon laughed at you both, shaking her head. Lara and Megan were doing some kind of synchronised dance that made absolutely no sense. Yoonchae was filming everything for ‘memories’, even though half the footage was blurry.

You felt free – light – happy.

*

It wasn’t dramatic.

It wasn’t sad.

It was just… soft.

A song came on that reminded you of her – something she always hummed while cooking – and suddenly you felt that warm tug in your chest.

You smiled to yourself.

Manon noticed immediately. “Uh oh.”

“What?” you asked, even though you knew.

“You’re thinking about Dani.”

“I am not.”

“You absolutely are,” Sophia said, appearing out of nowhere.

Megan slung an arm around your shoulders. “She’s down bad.”

Lara nodded. “She’s been gone for two hours and Y/N’s already lovesick.”

Yoonchae gasped dramatically. “She’s going to start crying.”

“I’m not crying!” you laughed.

But you were smiling – that soft, helpless smile you only got when Dani crossed your mind.

“She’s so cute,” you said without meaning to.

The girls screamed.

*

“She was all tired and soft,” you said, leaning on the bar. “And she told me to go have fun. And she kissed me. And she looked so pretty even though she was exhausted.”

Manon patted your back. “We know, Y/N.”

“And she said she’d be there when I got back.”

Sophia nodded. “We know.”

“And I miss her.”

Megan groaned. “WE KNOW.”

You just giggled, cheeks warm. “I’m gonna tell her.”

“We know,” the girls said in unison.

*

The Uber was filled with laughter, off-key singing, and you leaning your head on Manon’s shoulder while mumbling. “Dani would love this song.”

“She would,” Manon said, brushing your back. “And she’ll love you stumbling into her room like a baby giraffe.”

“I’m gonna jump on her.”

“Please don’t injure her.” Sophia said.

*

Dani was curled up in bed when you burst through the door – hair messy, hoodie on, laptop glowing faintly in the dark. She looked up, startled for half a second before her whole face softened.

“Y/N?” she said, sitting up. “Baby, you’re home.”

You didn’t walk to her.

You launched yourself.

She barely had time to set her laptop aside before you were in her arms, legs half tangled with hers, arms around her neck, face buried in her shoulder.

“Daniiiii,” you whined, dragging out her name like it was a love song. “I missed you.”

She laughed, hugging you tight. “I missed you too. You smell like tequila.”

“I smell like missing you,” you corrected, pressing a sloppy kiss to her jaw.

Her breath hitched. “Y/N…”

You pulled back just enough to look at her – eyes half-lidded, cheeks flushed, lips pouty.

“You’re so pretty,” you said, cupping her face with both hands. “Like… stupid pretty. Like… illegal pretty.”

She giggled. “You’re drunk.”

“I’m horny,” you corrected boldly.

Dani’s eyes went wide. “Oh my god.”

You leaned in, kissing her – messy, eager, warm. She kissed you back for a moment, her hand sliding up your back, but then she pulled away gently, breathless.

“Baby,” she whispered, brushing your hair back, “you’re drunk.”

“I’m drunk and in love,” you said dramatically, trying to kiss her again. “Let me love you.”

She caught your face in her hands, laughing softly “You’re going to regret this speech in the morning.”

“No I won’t,” you insisted, climbing into her lap. “I want you.”

Her cheeks flushed instantly. “Y/N-“

You kissed her neck, slow and lingering. “You smell good.”

She swallowed hard. “You’re killing me.”

“Then kiss me properly,” you murmured against her skin.

She let out a tiny, helpless laugh – the kind she only made when she was flustered beyond belief – and gently guided your face up to hers.

“I want to,” she admitted softly. “But not like this. Not when you’re this drunk.”

You pouted dramatically. “But I’m cute.”

“You’re very cute,” she said, kissing your forehead. “And very drunk. And very much going to bed.”

You groaned. “Daniiiii.”

She stood up, lifting you up like you weighed nothing. “Come on, trouble.”

You wrapped your arms around her neck, legs dangling. “Carry me to bed like your princess.”

She laughed. “You are my princess.”

*

She set you down gently, helping you out of your jacket and shoes.

“Arms up,” she said softly.

You obeyed, giggling. “You’re undressing me.”

“I’m helping you,” she corrected, cheeks pink.

“You can help me more,” you teased, wiggling your eyebrows.

She covered her face with one hand. “Y/N, please.”

You tugged her hand away, kissing her palm. “I love you.”

She melted instantly. “I love you too.”

She got you into one of her shirts – it hung off you like a dress – and tucked you into bed, smoothing the blanket over you.

You grabbed her wrist, tugging her down into the sheets beside you. She climbed in, pulling you into her chest. “I’m not going anywhere.”

You nuzzled into her neck, sighing happily. “You’re warm.”

“You’re clingy,” she teased.

“You like it.”

She kissed your hair. “I really do.”

You murmured sleepily, “Dani?”

“Yeah, baby?”

“If I wasn’t drunk… I’d kiss you everywhere.”

Her breath caught. “Y/N…”

“And I’d make you-“

She slapped her hand over your mouth. “BED. NOW.”

You giggled against her palm, eyes fluttering shut.

She whispered into your hair, voice soft and full of love, “You’re impossible. And I adore you.”

You fell asleep in her arms, still smiling.
