Chapter 36

Dani was perched on the kitchen counter in her pyjama shorts and a tank top, swinging her legs casually while you sat opposite her with a notebook open, pen poised like a student about to take notes. The smell of the cinnamon tea lingered in the air, and the hum of the refrigerator filled the silence between bursts of laughter. Dani’s grin wicked, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

“Okay, profesora Dani,” you announced, tapping the notebook. “Teach me Spanish.”

Dani hopped off the counter, coming to sit beside you, voice dropping into a teasing lilt. “Careful what you wish for, Carino. I’m going to teach you everything – the sweet stuff, the funny stuff, and maybe even the words you shouldn’t repeat in front of the others.”

You groaned, already bracing yourself. This is going to be chaos, isn’t it?”

“Exactly,” Dani said, laughing. “But the fun kind.”

Dani leaned closer, eyes sparkling. “Okay first lesson. Say hola.”

“Hola,” you repeated carefully.

“Good,” Dani said, clapping her hands together dramatically. “You’re practically fluent already.”

You laughed, rolling your eyes. “Wow, one word and I’m bilingual.”

Dani smirked. “Don’t get cocky. Next one: Como estas?”

You frowned, trying to mimic the sounds. “Como… estasss?”

Dani giggled, shaking her head. “Close. But you sounded like you were ordering food.”

“Hey!” you protested, nudging Dani with your shoulder. “This is hard.”

“That’s why you have me,” Dani teased, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “Okay, repeat after me: ¿Cómo estás?”

You tried again, slower this time. “Como estas?”

“Perfect,” Dani said, her voice softening. “That means ‘How are you?”

You scribbled it down in the notebook. “Okay, I can handle that.”

Dani leaned back, stretching. “Now for something fun. Te quiero.”

You blinked. “What does that mean?”

Dani’s grin widened. “It means ‘I like you.’ or… ‘I want you.’ Depends on how you say it.”

Your cheeks flushed. “You’re just going to use this as an excuse to flirt, aren’t you?”

“Obviously,” Dani replied, leaning in until your noses almost touched. “Say it.”

You hesitated, then whispered “Te quiero.”

Dani’s smile softened, her eyes gleaming. “Cute. But you have to say it with confidence.”

You tried again, louder this time. “Te quiero.”

Dani kissed you quickly, laughing against your lips. “See? You’re getting it.”

The lesson continued, Dani tossing out random phrases, some useful, some ridiculous.

Tengo hambre,” Dani said, patting her stomach.

You repeated, “Tengo… hambre?”

“That means ‘I’m hungry’.” Dani grinned. “Which I am, by the way. You should feed me.”

You laughed. “This is less of a Spanish lesson and more of a list of your demands.”

“Exactly,” Dani teased. “Now, here’s a good one: Eres muy bonita.”

You tilted your head. “What’s that?”

Dani’s voice dropped, playfully. “It means ‘You’re very pretty’.”

You smiled shyly. “Oh.”

“Oh?” Dani teased, nudging you. “Say it back.”

You tried, stumbling over the words. “Eres… muy bonita?”

Dani laughed, pulling you closer. “Cute. But you sound like you’re questioning it. You have to say it like you mean it.”

You repeated, firmer this time. “Eres muy bonita.”

Dani’s grin widened. “Better. Now kiss me.”

You rolled your eyes but leaned in, your lips meeting in a soft, lingering kiss. Dani pulled back, whispering. “See? Spanish makes everything hotter.”

The notebook lay forgotten as Dani continued tossing out phrases, some sweet, some silly.

Callate,” Dani said suddenly, smirking.

You frowned. “What does that mean?”

Dani giggled. “It means ‘Shut up’.”

You gasped, swatting her arm. “You’re teaching me insults now?”

“Of course,” Dani teased. “You need the full vocabulary.”

You dissolved into laughter, the lesson turning into a game. Dani would say something in Spanish, you would butcher the pronunciation, and she would laugh until she was breathless.

Eventually Dani leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Okay, last one. Quiero besarte.”

You blinked. “What does that mean?”

Dani’s grin was wicked. “It means… ‘I want to kiss you.”

Your cheeks burned. “You’re just making this up now.”

“Not at all,” Dani whispered, brushing her lips against yours. “Let me show you.”

The kiss was deeper this time, heated, her hand sliding to your waist. The Spanish words lingered in the air, charged with meaning even if you didn’t fully understand them.

Por la forma en que te ves ahora, me haces imposible pensar en cualquier cosa excepto en tenerte a solas en mi cama.”

When you finally pulled back, breathless, you laughed softly. “I have no idea what you just said.”

Dani smirked, pressing another kiss to your lips. “That’s the fun part. You’ll learn.”

*

The night stretched on, filled with laughter and kisses, and whispered Spanish phrases that blurred the line between lesson and flirtation. Dani’s voice was warm, teasing, your confusion met with endless affection.

By the time the notebook was abandoned completely, the only words that mattered were the ones Dani whispered against your lips – sweet, flirty, and impossible to forget.
