Chapter 3
You walked into rehearsal holding iced coffees in one hand and Daniela’s hoodie handing off your shoulder like it was a fashion statement.
Because it was.
Dani was trailing a few steps behind you, sunglasses on indoors, looking way too smug for someone who’d only gotten five hours of sleep – most of which definitely hadn’t been restful.
The rehearsal space was buzzing with soft guitar tuning, keyboard warm-ups, and light conversation, until Megan looked up and squinted at the two of you before groaning.
“Oh my god, no.”
“What?” you asked innocently.
“You’re wearing her clothes again,” Sophia said, pointing her iced matcha at you like it was a weapon. “This is the third time this week.”
“You own hoodies,” Lara chimed in, adjusting her mic stand. “I’ve seen them. What happened to personal wardrobe boundaries?”
“I let her borrow it,” Dani said coolly, flopping onto the worn love seat like a rock star at the end of a tour. “It’s cute on her.”
You took a sip of your coffee, then leaned down to plant a kiss on Dani’s cheek. “I mean… she insisted.”
“She’s lying,” Dani murmured without missing a beat, “but I love that she lies for me.”
Yoonchae, who has been fixing her hair in the mirror, finally looked up. “You two are like a walking fan edit. I swear someone’s editing this exact moment to a Mitski song right now.”
“Or a Tiktok audio of a girl saying ‘I love love… but not like that’, Manon muttered, flopping into a beanbag chair and pulling a beanie low over her face. “You guys are killing my will to believe in monogamy.”
You were about to respond – something equally ridiculous – when Dani reached up, grabbed your hand, and pulled you down to sit on her lap.
You blinked “Baby, you can’t rehearse with me on top of you here.”
“You’re comfortable,” she shrugged. “Plus now I’m trapped.”
“Ughhhhh,” came a collective moan from the band.
“You two are like… the gay version of a romcom couple no one invited but still shows up to every party,” Lara said, grinning despite herself.
Dani smirked. “Yet here we are. Stealing hearts and screen time.”
“You mean rehearsal time,” Sophia shot back, checking the clock. “We were supposed to start twenty minutes ago, but nooo – lovebirds had to stop for coffee and post-coital cuddles.”
“I don’t recall cuddling,” Dani said, her fingers playing with the hem of your shirt. “I recall some very intense cardio, though.”
You smacked her lightly on the arm, trying not to laugh as you buried your face in her shoulder. “Dani!”
The band groaned again, and someone – probably Megan – threw a pick at you this time.
“Okay, okay, we’re focusing now,” Yoonchae said, ever the voice of reason. “Let’s just start from the top of the new track. ‘Lovergirl’ right?”
Everyone started shifting into place, plugging in, tuning up, and taking positions. You were just about to move when Dani caught your wrist, tugging you gently back down.
“Hey,” she said, voice a little softer now, meant just for you. “Before we start.”
You looked at her. “Yeah?”
She leaned in, lips brushing your ear. “I’m not about to hold back when I sing, you know. I want them to know it’s about you.”
You raised a brow. “You want to be exposed like that?”
She grinned. “I want to be immortalised.”
You shook your head, cheeks warm, heart louder than any amp in the room. “God, you’re so annoying.”
She kissed you once – short, but slow – and finally let you go.
She stepped up to the mic.
The band counted in.
And she sang like the words were made of your name.

Short but sweet 🙂
A continuation on from the last chapter (you’ll realise a lot of my stories interconnect sometimes, but you can still read them as their own individual stories without being confused)
Anyways, hoped you liked it 🙂
