Chapter 21

“Honeyy I’m home” Lux shouted as she unlocked the door to the apartment, revealing the almost fully furnished living room.

Lucious and Don were slumped into the couch, their eyes drawn to the tv as they played Madden 18. Seeing Sasha and Lux enter, Lu glanced up for a quick second.

“What’s up? I see ya’ll worked shit out” he smirked, turning back to the tv.

“Of course we did” Lux smiled, walking across the tv and into the kitchen, “I know you guys weren’t sitting here all day since I left”

“Nah, we got up to use the bathroom” Don replied and the two of them laughed.

“And the food” Lu added.

Sasha snickered and shook her head, and Lux playfully rolled her eyes, “Come on Sasha, let’s leave these cavemen to their cave”

Lux gestured for Sasha to follow behind, and she did so. Lux’s room was the last one down the hall, and although it had only been two days she was excited to show what she had set up so far. It was her first real room, and once Lu gave her the green light to buy whatever she wanted she went a little decor crazy.

“Wow, you did all this in like two days” Sasha said astonished, as she looked around the room fit for a girl.

“Yeah, well Lu and Don set everything up I just picked it out. Cute right?” Lux beamed.

“Yeah, it’s nice” Sasha nodded as she looked over the room a little more.

She smiled at the framed picture of her and Lux on the dresser, and it only reminded her more of why she was there.

“And you know what’s the best part?” Lux asked, moving towards the door and shutting it.

“What?” Sasha asked.

Lux dramatically locked the door, and Sasha chuckled because she could admit she loved the lock on her door as well.

Lux bounced her eyebrows flirtatiously, and strolled over to Sasha.

“Soooo I was thinking…” Lux started, slowly wrapping her arms around Sasha’s neck, “We can break in my new bed”

“Now?” Sasha raised her brow.

“Yeah, why not?”

“They’re right in the next room babe, and you know how you get”

Lux threw her neck back slightly offended, “Oh don’t get cocky” she smirked.

“I’m just saying” Sasha shrugged with a laugh, “Plus I’m sweaty from school, and ~”

“Okay I get it, not today” Lux stopped her.

She twisted her mouth as she wasn’t sure what was up with Sasha, but figured maybe she was right about the boys being in the next room. Still, the two would have to be intimate sometime and it was already a little while since.

“Well…Do you want to watch tv or something?
Smoke, chill?” Lux said throwing around options.

“Yeah we can do that” Sasha replied as she kicked off her shoes.

Lux nodded and headed back out to get weed from her brother, and as she did so Sasha fell back onto the bed and stared up at the ceiling. It was clear that she was thinking hard, and once Lux came back into the room she hopped out of her daze.

“Pick the show” Lux said as she threw over the remote and Sasha nodded without speaking.

As Lux began to roll the weed, Sasha clicked through the channels trying to find something that was good.

“Ouuu turn on that!” Lux said once Sasha passed the slot that read Cheaters.

“Seriously? Who watches that old as show” Sasha scoffed wanting so badly to keep going.

“I do, it’s good turn it on” Lux insisted.

Sasha reluctantly turned it on, and decided to just mark it as the third time God was sending her a message. However again she played it cool, deciding to just get on social media while Lux finished rolling.

Once she was done she sparked it, and folded her legs like a pretzel on the bed.

“Oh my god they’re about to catch him. Dummy” Lux laughed as she watched the tv, “Caught his ass, yes sis. Ew she’s not even cute”

Sasha pretended to laugh, and was relieved when it was her turn to smoke. She took the first few puffs and became a bit more calm, however Lux’s comments at the tv just made things worst. When she finally had enough, Sasha turned off the tv and Lux scrunched her brows.

“What did you do that for?” Lux pouted.

“Because I just want to pay attention to you” Sasha let het cheek stretch as she pulled her little closer, “Come here”

While she didn’t want to have sex, she figured maybe that would help her get it off her mind.

“Not right now babe, I want to watch it. Here, finish this”

Lux turned back on the tv as Sasha finished the rest of the L, next rolling her eyes at the screen once more. It was as if it was mocking her, and at that moment her mind drifted back to Chris’s words.

“If you really like her, you have to tell her. And soon

“Babe we gotta talk” Sasha blurted out, and even the start of the convo had her stomach turning over.

“Okay, just wait until the episode is over” Lux said staring at the tv.

Now” Sasha insisted.

Hearing the solemnity in Sasha’s voice, Lux scrunched her brows but turned the tv off anyway.
“Ok….wassup?” She asked.

Silence came over them, and now that Sasha had the floor she didn’t know what to say or how to say it.

“Umm…I just wanted to talk about yesterday”

“Ok…what about yesterday?”

“….when you told me you loved me. Was that true?” Sasha asked stirring the convo in a different direction.

Lux smiled, and as she always liked to do she ran her fingers through Sasha’s curls, “Yeah of course. Why? Do you think I lied, like ~”

“No it’s not that” Sasha interrupted her, “I just….love you too and I wanted to tell you that”

“Awww thanks babe” Lux giggled, leaning over to give her a kiss.

“There’s more” Sasha stopped her.

Lux twisted her mouth, but straightened her posture in efforts to hear the rest.

“Okay…”

Sasha took a deep breath, and began once more, “You’re like..my best friend. And I know technically you’re not but you are. I tell you everything, things I didn’t even know myself. And ever since I moved here, you’ve been this light in my life, you’ve shown me so much. I just want you to know I really care about you Lux, I really do. And if we were to break up I wouldn’t know what to do. I ~”

Seeing the tears coming to Sasha’s eyes, Lux palmed her face and began to wipe them away.

“Ohh Sasha baby relax” she told her softly, “It’s okay, we’re not going to break up. And if we do, we’ll always be friends. I’ll always love you Sasha, you’re my best friend too”

“But you’re just saying that” Sasha cried, “Because you don’t know”

“I do know Sasha” Lux insisted, “I know that…you make me want to be a better person. And I know that….before you I hated school and now I love it and without you that wouldn’t be possible. You’re honest, and you’re loving and you make me feel like the most beautiful, most lucky, most ~”

“I cheated” Sasha blurted out.

Lux eyes widened, and for a long moment all she could do was stare at Sasha.

Sasha searched her eyes for an answer, but all Lux could do was stare into an abyss of nothingness.

“Say something Lux” Sasha pleaded.

“Who?” Was the only words Lux could get out.

“Jaz…it was yesterday after the park. Zay, me her and Ciera went back to his house and at first we were all just chilling but then he left us alone and she started running around with my phone and when I caught her she kissed me. That was it, just a kiss Lux. For like a second, and I swear it didn’t mean ~”

Lux smacked Sasha across her face viciously before she could finish her sentence, and Sasha held her face in shock. She knew Lux would be mad, however Lux’s chest was heaving in and out and the way she was looking at Sasha was if she wanted to kill her.

“Get out” Lux croaked, the knot in her throat burning as she attempted to hold back her tears.

“Lux, please”

“Get out!!” Lux shrieked, pushing Sasha off of the bed.

“No, you need to talk to me. Just talk to me” Sasha pleaded.

“I don’t want to talk to you, fuck you. How could you!” Lux continued to yell, pushing Sasha harshly into a corner.

“I’m sorry Lux, all I can say is that I’m sorry!” Sasha yelled back, “I’m not good at this, I told you I don’t know anything about being in a relationship!”

“So now it’s my fault?” Lux pointed to herself, “That you’re a piece of shit! I cared about you, I was the first person to be your friend and now what? You don’t need me is that it!”

“I didn’t say that Lux, please” Sasha sniffled, reaching for Lux’s arm.

Lux snatched it away, and the two battled looks as it was clear there would be no talking. Lux couldn’t even think straight, and at the moment she hated Sasha for being so stupid. How could she ruin something so good? It was just the beginning, and the two hadn’t even been together for a full three months. It felt like her heart wanted to fall out of her chest, and at the moment she wasn’t sure if she was being overly dramatic but she also didn’t care.

Letting her anger get the best of her she began to attack Sasha, and although she knew Sasha wasn’t a fighter she didn’t care. She needed her to feel the hurt that she felt, even if it was just physical.

It wasn’t long before Lucious and Don bursted in after hearing the ruckus, causing the cheap lock to pop open. Lu pulled Lux off of Sasha, and it was clear his sister was having one of her infamous hissy fits.

“Lux, stop!” Lucious barked, “Get a hold of yourself”

He threw her into his room and locked the two of them inside. Meanwhile Sasha tried her best to get herself together, but honestly just wanted to break down right there.

“You good?” Don asked Sasha, as she still hadn’t moved from sitting in the corner.

While Lucious tried his best to calm his sister down in the next room, all Sasha could do was rewind everything in her head and while she knew it was the right thing to do she wished she just kept it a secret. Now Lux hated her, and she would never forgive her.

If she knew love was this hard, she definitely wouldn’t have done it. She would’ve declared herself A-Sexual, a term she had learned that year as well and right now it felt like her best option.

“No” Sasha admitted, her head hung low.

“It’ll be alright, just give her some time” Don shrugged before walking off.

Sasha nodded, and hearing Lucious’s bedroom door open she hoped it was Lux coming out. She twisted her mouth to see Lucious instead as he entered the room.

“Come on, I’m going to drop you off” Lucious told her, gesturing her to come along.

Sasha knew that meant Lux didn’t want to see her, and stood to her feet and grabbed her bag. She followed behind Lucious, and as bad as she wanted to stay and plead her case she knew now just wasn’t the right time.

“I’ll be back, make sure Lux is cool” Lucious told Don and he nodded his head.

The two headed out, and Sasha couldn’t help but know how Lux was doing.

“So does she hate me?” She blurted out halfway through the drive.

“Nah” Lu shook his head surprisingly, “Hate is a strong word. She’s just upset”

“So basically she hates me” Sasha screwed her mouth.

“I mean it’s none of my business, but what happened?” Lu asked a bit curious.

Lux was too busy blubbering like a baby to say anything, so he just told her to lay down and he would be back. Sasha ran down everything that happened, starting from their first argument and Lu nodded as he took it all in.

“So, you’re telling me you had no idea this girl liked you? I’m a nigga Sash, you gotta keep it real with me” Lu chuckled.

“I am…it’s bad enough Lux is my first relationship. I’m new to all this, but once I figured it out I should’ve just…left her alone” Sasha let out a deep breath as she stared out the rainy window.

“Yeah…you should’ve” Lu agreed, “But still, I don’t think Lux hates you”

“She does

“Trust me, I know my sister. If anything she’s just fucked up right now, I’m not gonna lie you make her really happy. And I just stood up for you the other day, so thanks for making me look like a liar” Lu snickered, “But on a serious note, I can tell you really love her, vice versa. You two are kids, it’s high school, it’s bound to be drama. It’s how you bounce back”

“But how do I do that if she won’t even talk to me?” Sasha asked.

“Give her time. That’s all you can do” Lu told her, “Lux gets heated in the moment, but once her head is on straight she’ll talk to you again. It’s up to you to win her back”

Sasha nodded, and as Lucious pulled up to her house she noted her dad’s car in the driveway and rolled her eyes.

“Thanks” she said, turning back to Lucious, “Can you do me a favor?”

Lu shrugged to say why not, and Sasha took a deep breath.

“Just tell her…that I love her. And that she can be mad now, but she can’t leave. And ask her if that’s a deal”

Lu nodded, and smirked as she hopped out.
“If it means anything, I’m rooting for you”

“Thanks” Sasha smirked, and while that was nice she would much rather it be Lux rooting for them. Knowing it would be a while before that happened, she knew she had no choice but to suck it up.

She finished her way up the walkway, and after entering her home she was surprised to smell the aroma of dinner for the first time in weeks. The entire family was seated at the table, and at the head of the table sat Joseph. She definitely wasn’t in the mood to eat or be around them, but was used to the routine.

“This is new” she joked, taking a seat at the table.

“Things are going to start going back to normal” Joseph announced, “First things first, you’re late”

Sasha twisted her mouth, and for some reason it felt like her life was on rewind. This wasn’t good, this wasn’t good at all.
