It’s now been a month since the girls went on their first date, they were in, what the other girls called their “honeymoon phase”, meaning they were glued to each other, even sharing their room, they alternate between Danon and Megara’s room, and of course Manon and Lara loves to tease them about it.
So they were together officially but only the girls knew, they didn’t want to tell any of their staff or fans yet,
They didn’t even tell either of their families, Daniela was not ready and Megan was respecting her choice even tho she really wanted to tell her mom.
Daniela on the other hand was feeling guilty of preventing Megan from telling them, because the girl was so happy when she had talked to her about it, only for Dani to refuse because she was scared and Megan had been understanding of course she had, it’s Megan we’re talking about.
But Daniela still felt bad, so she had promise Megan that she would come out to her parents by the end of this week, except that we were alredy friday and she did not do it yet.
Right now she was in her’s and Manon’s shared room, Megan was not here she was having dinner at Lara’s parents house with Sophia and Yoonchae, while she and Manon had stayed back, feelîg a bit sick.
Dani had decide she was gonna do it tonight, it was currently 06:30 PM so 09:30 PM in Atlanta wich was the perfect time to call her parents, but let’s say she was panicking and Manon was trying to reassure her.
“What if they don’t accept me ? What if they hate me ?” She asked Manon who frowned.
“Dani you are their only daughter and they love you they wont care i promise.”
But that didn’t calm her down cause she kept going,”They’re not homophobic, i know that they were sl supportive of Lara and Megan but what if they’re not supportive of me ? What if they jus-” She was cut off by Manon,
“Dani breathe everything is going to be okay, you know you don’t have to do it right now, Megan doesn’t mind waiting.”She told her squeezing one of her hands in a comforting gesture.
And Dani actually listened taking a deep breath before speaking,”No i want to do it, I’ll just call them and tell them, right now.” She said taking her phone out, “you’ll stay with me, yeah ?” She asked Manon who nodded,”of course.”
At this Daniela took a big breath and hit the face time button.
Her mom answered almost immediately.
“Daniela, mi hija!” her mother greeted warmly, her smile filling the screen.
[“Daniela, my daughter!”]
Daniela smiled back, automatically switching to Spanish, even though her heart was racing. “Hola, mamá. ¿Está papá contigo?”
[“Hi, mom. Is dad with you?”]
“Sí,” her mom replied, tilting the phone slightly. “¿Por qué?”
[“Yes. Why?”]
“¿Puedes llamarlo? Necesito decirte algo.”
[“Can you call him? I need to tell you something.”]
Her mom’s smile softened with concern. “Claro que sí. Él está en la cocina.” She started walking, the screen jostling slightly. “Amor, Daniela quiere hablar con nosotros.”
[“Of course. He’s in the kitchen.”
“Love, Daniela wants to talk to us.”]
A second later, her dad appeared beside her, wiping his hands on a towel.
“¡Daniela!” he said brightly. “Hola.”
“Hola, papá,” Daniela replied, her voice wavering just a little.
They both looked at her expectantly, smiling.., and suddenly, the reality of what she was about to do crashed down on her all at once.
Her throat tightened.
Manon shifted slightly beside her, just out of frame, close enough to be there without intruding.
Daniela swallowed.
“Mamá… papá…” she started, then stopped. She laughed nervously, rubbing her thumb against the side of her phone. “Esto es difícil.”
[“Mom… dad…”
“This is hard.”]
Her parents exchanged a glance.
“Dani,” her mom said gently, “lo que sea, puedes decirnos.”
[“Dani, whatever it is, you can tell us.”]
Daniela took another breath. This one shook.
“Estoy saliendo con alguien,” she said. “Con alguien que amo.”
[“I’m dating someone.”
“Someone I love.”]
Her dad smiled. “Eso es bueno, ¿no?”
[“That’s good, right?”]
Daniela nodded, tears already burning behind her eyes. “Sí. Lo es.” She hesitated, then forced herself to keep going. “Pero… no es un chico.”
[“Yes. It is.”
“But… it’s not a boy.”]
There was a beat of silence.
Daniela’s heart pounded so loudly she was sure they could hear it through the phone.
Her mom’s expression didn’t change, not into shock, not into anger. Just… attentive.
“Es una chica,” Daniela finished quietly. “Soy lesbiana.”
[“It’s a girl.”
“I’m a lesbian.”]
The words felt unreal once they were out, hanging between them.
Her mom’s eyes filled almost instantly.
“Oh, mi amor,” she breathed.
[“Oh, my love.”]
Her dad exhaled slowly, then nodded once. “Gracias por confiar en nosotros,” he said softly.
[“Thank you for trusting us.”]
Daniela blinked. “¿Eso es… todo?”
[“That’s… it?”]
Her mom laughed through her tears. “Eso es todo.” She pressed a hand to her chest. “Sólo queremos que seas feliz.”
[“That’s all.”
“We just want you to be happy.”]
Her dad leaned closer to the camera. “¿Ella te trata bien?”
[“Does she treat you well?”]
Daniela let out a shaky laugh, tears finally spilling over. “Sí. Muchísimo.”
[“Yes. Very much.”]
“Entonces,” he said simply, “eso es lo único que importa.”
[“Then that’s the only thing that matters.”]
Daniela covered her mouth with her hand, crying now, silent, relieved sobs shaking her shoulders.
“Te amamos,” her mom said firmly. “Siempre.”
[“We love you.”
“Always.”]
“Te amo,” Daniela whispered back, her voice breaking.
[“I love you.”]
Daniela wiped at her cheeks, trying to steady her breathing. Her parents were still smiling at her through the screen, warm and calm in a way that made her chest ache.
Her mom tilted her head slightly, studying her face the way she always did when Daniela was little and trying to hide something.
“Mi amor,” she said carefully, “¿puedo preguntarte algo?”
[“My love, can I ask you something?”]
Daniela nodded, sniffling. “Sí.”
[“Yes.”]
Her dad chuckled softly.
“Más o menos… ya lo sabíamos.”
[“More or less… we already knew.”]
Daniela blinked. “¿Lo sabían?”
[“You knew?”]
Her mom smiled, not smug, just gentle.
“No porque nos lo hayas dicho,” she added quickly. “Sino porque nunca te hemos visto tan feliz.”
[“Not because you told us.”
“But because we’ve never seen you this happy.”]
Daniela let out a small, disbelieving laugh.
“Eso no es-“
[“That’s not-“]
“Hablas de ella de otra manera,” her dad continued. “La forma en la que se te ilumina la cara. Cómo te quedas en silencio cuando piensas en ella. Es obvio para quienes te conocemos.”
[“You talk about her differently.”
“The way your face lights up.”
“How you go quiet when you think about her.”
“It’s obvious to those who know you.”]
Daniela’s heart skipped.
“¿Ustedes… saben quién es?”
[“You… know who she is?”]
Her mom nodded.
“Megan,” she said, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Daniela froze completely.
“La has mencionada durante años,” her mom went on. “Incluso antes de que tú misma lo entendieras. Siempre era ‘Megan esto’, ‘Megan aquello’.” She smiled fondly. “Una madre nota esas cosas.”
[“You’ve mentioned her for years.”
“Even before you understood it yourself.”
“It was always ‘Megan this’, ‘Megan that’.”
“A mother notices those things.”]
Daniela covered her face with her hands, half laughing, half mortified.
“Dios mío.”
[“Oh my God.”]
Her dad laughed too.
“Y cuando vimos cómo te mira en las fotos, cómo siempre te inclinas hacia ella…” He shrugged. “Unimos los puntos.”
[“And when we saw how she looks at you in photos, how you always lean toward her…”
“We connected the dots.”]
There was no accusation in his voice. No disappointment. Just certainty.
“¿Están bien con eso?” Daniela asked quietly, peeking through her fingers. “¿Con… ella?”
[“Are you okay with that?”
“With… her?”]
Her mom’s expression softened even more.
“Dani,” she said firmly now, “no solo estamos bien con eso. Nos alegra que sea ella.”
[“Dani, we’re not just okay with it.”
“We’re glad it’s her.”]
Daniela’s breath caught.
“¿De verdad?”
[“Really?”]
“Es amable,” her dad said. “Te hace sentir segura. Eso se nota.”
[“She’s kind.”
“She makes you feel safe. It shows.”]
“Y,” her mom added with a teasing smile, “está claro que te adora.”
[“And it’s clear she adores you.”]
Daniela laughed through fresh tears, her chest feeling too full.
“De verdad que sí.”
[“She really does.”]
Her mom nodded.
“Entonces confiamos en ella.” She paused, then added gently, “Y estamos orgullosos de ti. Por amar con honestidad. Por ser valiente.”
[“Then we trust her.”
“And we’re proud of you.”
“For loving honestly. For being brave.”]
Daniela nodded over and over, overwhelmed.
“Tenía mucho miedo,” she admitted. “Pensé que quizá… cuando se tratara de mí, sería diferente.”
[“I was very scared.”
“I thought maybe… when it came to me, it would be different.”]
Her dad shook his head immediately.
“Nunca sería diferente. Eres nuestra hija.”
[“It would never be different.”
“You’re our daughter.”]
Silence settled for a moment.., not awkward, just full.
Then her mom smiled again.
“¿Cuando podremos conocerla adecuadamente?”
[“When can we properly meet her?”]
Daniela laughed, wiping her cheeks.
“Pronto,” she promised. “Se la preguntaré.”
[“Soon.”
“I’ll ask her.”]
“Dile,” her dad said, pointing playfully at the camera, “Si alguna vez ella te rompe el corazón, ella tendrá que responder ante nosotros.”
[“Tell her,”
“If she ever breaks your heart, she’ll have to answer to us.”]
Daniela laughed harder.
“Ella estaría aterrorizada.”
[“She would be terrified.”]
“Bien,” her mom said, smiling. “Eso significa que ella se preocupa por ti.”
[“Good.”
“That means she cares about you.”]
Daniela ended the call a few minutes later, her hands still shaking… but this time, from relief instead of fear.
She sat there for a long moment, staring at her phone.
Then she smiled.
Because she couldn’t wait to tell Megan.
