Aria’s P.O.V

Traveling by carriage through the town I took this time to scan my surroundings.

“So this is the furthest hyuman city, Zetsuya…” I spoke quietly as I took in my current surroundings.

‘Hm, Seems like that brat really puts beauty and brightness over everything else.’ I thought seeing how beautiful and handsome the people looked.

‘Hm, Beauty isn’t everything, but I don’t remember the dwarves telling me anything about this.’ I thought rembering the dwarf girl telling me about the economy and currency of the hyuman community.

‘I’ll have to make sure I use the gold coins they gave me wisely.’ I thought as we continued forward.

“Young Miss, That is the adventurers’ guild sign board.” Tomoe pointed out making me glance towards the building where I felt alot of people’s presence in.

‘I guess we should go ahead and get this out of the way.’ I thought as I parked the carriage right outside the guilds building.

Getting off and walking inside we made our way to the receptionist desk with no mind of the other people.

“Welcome to the Zetsuya Adventurers Guild.” The receptionist greeted us as I stared at her.

‘Hm, she’s really cute.’I thought as she gave me a look over staring at mostly my mask and attire.

“…If you’re in need of a job, they’re posted on that wall to the right.” She said making me raise a brow at the way her tone made a complete 180 to happily greeting to disgust or suspicion.

‘Is it because I didn’t return her greeting? Or is it my attire? She was glancing at it alot.’ I thought sweat dropping.

“No, we’ve come here to register with the guild. Could you tell us about the guild first?” Mio asked as she released some of her aura and wore a dark smile.

“Huh? You wish to register?” The receptionist asked sweat dropping as she felt a bit of Mio’s aura.

It didn’t help that both Mio and Tomoe were standing infront of me protectively staring down at the receptionist.

‘You two are quite frightening right now.’ I thought sweat dropping as I knew they protective of myself and very loyal.

I could hear some conversation behind me, but I didn’t bother with them since I had no reason too.

“Is there a… problem?” Mio asked the receptionist with a cold smile as she stared at the receptionist.

“N-Not at all. This location is a gathering spot for strong individuals. We have simply not had anyone come here to register. My apologies.” The receptionist apologized as she gave us a small bow.

Though as soon as she stood back up, her eyes went to me as she still stared at me with a suspicious gaze.

“…What of the other person with you? Her appearance is rather dubious…” She said making frown at her words.

‘Hm, I guess I should have made me kimono instead…’I thought thinking that I wouldn’t be so suspicious in a fit like this.

“She is the heir to a certain company, but during her travels she was cursed. She wears that mask and those rings in order to suppress the curse.” Mio said glaring at the receptionist as I had to hold Mio’s shoulder since she was scaring the girl.

It didn’t help that I had to quickly grabbed Tomoe as well as she was about to draw her blade to slash at the girl.

‘I love how you two are protective of me, but this is too much.’ I thought.

“Tsk… Because of some side effects, our Mistress cannot speak, but she can still communicate.” Tomoe said as I nodded and used my magic to say hello.

“As you can see, there’s no problem.” Tomoe said as the receptionist stared at me shocked.

“With magic?!” She said surprised as the words faded away.

“We are both confident in our abilities, but we didn’t feel the need to register with the guild because we serve our Mistress. However, she feels it may help us in the future if we register now.” Tomoe explained as I gave a small bow to prove her words true once again.

“Do you have any other questions?” Mio asked the girl with a scary look.

“No! There’s absolutely no problem! W-We shall measure your levels now then.” She said as she turned towards one of her coworkers to signal them to which they nodded and went to do the task.

“For now I shall provide an explanation of the guild for you.” She said as she then began to explain how the guild works.

As it turns out the guild is just like what the Dwarves explained it out to be. There are ranks within the guild system and jobs that one can take for money.

There is also a merchant guild which since I put myself as a merchant’s daughter. Has a greater affect on me then the adventurers guild.

‘I didn’t think they would have a guild for such…’ I thought as I began to write in the air.

[Actually I’ve lost my merchants guild card during my travels. Am I able to get a new one in this town?] I asked.

“Eh? You lost it?” She questioned as I nodded.

“That sounds terrible. Umm… To get a new card you’ll need to go to the branch office in tsilge. It’s 3 towns away and it should take about a month to reach.” She told me as I sweat dropped.

‘That pretty far…’ I thought as I told the receptionist thank you for her help.

“Do you have any other questions?” She asked as I began to write my answers.

[Where can I find information about famous adventurers?] I asked her.

“Information about famous adventurers? The information about the rank and level of our town’s adventurers is over to the right near the job list” She told me as I nodded and looked back at the board.

[I’m going to go look the rankings. Wait here until I come back.] I told them as they nodded.

Looking at the board, I saw that a Rizur take down quest was a C+ rank job.

‘Hm seem those mutts are difficult to deal with. Killing it with just a kick must be a pretty nice achievement.’ I thought.

Looking at the rankings I saw that some guy named Mills Ace is level 444 with a rank of SSS. Then there was another with the level of 280 with a rank S.

‘Hm seems like no one here can really pose a threat unless they have some special tricks and abilities.’ I thought as I decided it was time to leave.

A group of people like this place number 2 had mostly died to just one of Mio’s children. Imaging Tomoe’s and Mio’s levels I couldn’t help, but think that it would bring a lot of unneeded attention to us.

Just when I was about to approach the two. I couldn’t help, but stop in my tracks when I saw a red paper in their hands.

‘Why couldn’t they just wait like I told them too…’ I thought as I continued to walk towards the.

[I thought I told you to wait.] I said as Tomoe turned away from me and gave a wryly smile.

“Oh~ hm… I just touched the paper and it instantly turned red.” She said trying to play off my words which I could only sigh to.

“Eeh…? This paper can only measure up to level 400…” The receptionist told us as I sighed.

‘Well I guess we might as well join now.’ I thought as I began to write.

[They are capable of beating monsters like Alkeys, so I think you may need a bigger paper.] I explained to them making them shocked.

“Alk…?! If they’re that high, we’ll need the ones we’ve never used before…” She said telling her coworker who rushed to go get the scroll.

When she came back with a case she placed it on the table and opened it revealing a long piece of paper.

“This paper goes up to level 1600.” She informed as I could hear the conversation erupting from behind me.

[Go first, Tomoe.] I told her as she smiled.

“Yes!” She responded as she picked up the scroll making it turn colors before placing it down.

“That should be enough.” She said as the Demi-Human receptionist read the scrolls numbers and placed it on a card. Making the original receptionist pick up the card with a sweat drop.

“Your registration is complete. Tomoe you are… rank E and Level 1320. Your the highest adventurer in the entire guild.” She told as I sighed expecting this mostly.

‘She easily became number 1.’ I thought.

“I’m already at the top? How easy. Could you tell me how strong number 2 is?” Tomoe asked.

“The person below you is the Dragon Slayer Sophia Burga, Rank SSS and Level 920.” She explained.

“What Dragon did she kill to earn the title of Dragon Slayer?” Tomoe questioned.

“As I recall her party defeated an ArchDragon named Lancer. Who had made a nest in the empire.” The receptionist explained.

“Lancer? Oh, that fool that decided to take the name Mitsurugi.” Tomoe said making me raise a brow.

‘It shouldn’t be surprising that she has connections to other ArchDragons.’ I thought.

It was then Mio’s turn as she picked up the paper.

“I’m next.” She said as the paper began to change colors and was placed back down letting the people do their work as we waited.

“M-Mio, Rank E, And Level…1500?!” The receptionist shouted out shocked at Mio’s numbers.

‘Heh, your now number 1 Mio.’ I thought.

“What?! I’m only 1,320, but Mio is 1500?! Hey bring out that paper again! I wanna redo it!” Tomoe said as I stared at her.

[It’s because you we’re slacking off while Mio was fighting. It’s natural so calm down, I’m next.] I wrote to Tomoe making her pout as I looked at the at Demi-Human receptionist.

She looked like she very much in shock by so many things. Seeing such I decided to try something.

Everyone was surprised as pair of ash blond Fox ears sprouted out on top of my head and 9 long fluffy ash blonde tails began to pop into existence on my lower back.

I stared at the receptionist who instead of calming down became more shocked then ever.

‘I’m ready now‘ I told her ignoring the fierce gaze of everyone especially on my back side.

It didn’t help that Mio and Tomoe were joining in on this.

“U-Um, That was the last of the 1600 papers, the highest we have left is up to 900.” She said making me nod in understanding.

[That’s unfortunate, but it’s fine I will take that one then] I told her as she nodded and presented it to me.

“Eh? Ah… Then take this…” She said giving me the scroll as I held it within my grasp.

The scroll didn’t even last a minute as immediately it started turning charcoal black making everyone look towards me shocked.

“Your so high you blacked out the scroll?!” The receptionist asked shocked as I lowered my gaze.

‘Hm, seems I’m pretty high leveled here. I guess this is what Lord Tsukuyomi was talking about.’ I thought not minding the shocked and surprised stares I was receiving.

“W-Would it be alright if we place you as Level 900 for now, Aria?” She asked me as I shrugged and nodded.

With that I had received my Adventurers Guild Card.

Making my Fox features disappear I stared at my card with a small smile under my mask.

“I will also send a statement to the merchants guild about reissuing your lost card.” She told me as I nodded in acknowledgement and began to walk out along with Tomoe and Mio on my sides.

“I wish you luck on your adventures!” She said as we moved out in the path way clear to us from the adventurers.

‘I feel like I’ll just have to get use to the attention I gain here.’ I thought.

-Time Skip-

Currently we are back on the carriage as we went around the town.

“There’s a picture of me on the guild card!” Tomoe said as walking beside the carriage.

“…Tomoe.” I called out as I was sensing some unneeded things.

“What is it Young Miss?” She responded.

“You do notice them too, right?”I asked her as she clicked her teeth.

“Tsk, So you noticed them to Young Miss?” She said making me give a small frown.

“Why did you click your teeth? Forget it we’re going to turn this corner.” I said as she nodded.

“As you wish.” She responded as we turned the carriage into a dead-end where Tomoe opened up a Fog gate to get away without any needs further.

-Time Skip-

We are bow currently at an Inn as we are trying to get checked in.

“So you want a room and for us to watch over your cart?” The demihuman guy at the front desk asked as I nodded.

“Do you have a merchant’s guild card?” He asked as began to write.

[No, I lost mine. So I’ll be use an adventurers guild card instead.] I told him as I handed him my card.

“Aria, right? Understood.” He responded.

“With the adventurers guild card, we can provide lodging, but we cannot guard your wagon or be held responsible if anything is stolen. Is that fine?” He asked me as I sweat dropped.

‘Heh, no matter where you go. Thieves will exist in any place.’ I thought.

“The only rooms available right now are the most expensive…” He told us as I recived my card seeing it had some dirt on it that covered my number making it look like level 9 only.

‘How did that get there?’ I thought cleaning it off.

[That’s fine, I won’t have you take responsibility for guarding the cargo.] I wrote.

“Very well, 2 rooms for 3 people and watching over a wagon for one night will cost 6 gold coins.” He said making me frown as that pricing just did not sound right to me.

‘He’s trying to trick me isn’t he?’ I thought as I narrowed my eyes at the guy.

[Are you trying to rip us off? It makes no sense for it to cost so much for a single night.] I said making him sweat drop.

“I-I’m sorry, but that’s the cost.” He said as I glared at him.

‘If that’s the case I would rather sleep outside. Spending 6 gold coins for a single night sounds outrageous.’ I thought as I was about to tell Tomoe and Mio the plan when suddenly Tomoe intervened.

“Hm, You know Young Miss it’s quite a relief that at least this Inn had rooms available. Although all the other inns only charged 1 gold coin for 3 people in the best room.” Tomoe said making me glance at her as I didn’t know this information.

“Just to check, did you really give us the right price?” She questioned making the guy sweat drop.

“O-of course, we’re proud to call this the best Inn in town…” He responded sweat dropping more.

“I see, I see…If you we’re lying to us, I was prepared to destroy the entire Inn.” She said showing him her guild card which shocked him since she was in the thousands.

“Just to be sure though, the price is really 6 gold coins per night, right?” Tomoe asked again.

“T-That’s…I-I’m sorry! I made a mistake! It’s only 2 gold coins per night!” He said making me frown at him.

‘I knew that pricing was fishy.’ I thought.

“That’s quite the mistake. Oops.” Tomoe said as she broke the floor boards with her feet.

“Oh dear, it seems the floor was rotten there.” Tomoe said as I just stared at her with a blank gaze.

‘Hm, She can do whatever she wants since she exposed him.’ I thought.

“How terrible, you should have the building carefully examined.” Mio told him.

“Oh, and we will take the remaining money back when we leave, so make sure you hold onto it until then.” She told him as he looked like he was about to cry tears.

“Wa-Wait! I’ll return it now!” He told us as Mio shook her head.

“No, No, That would be a bit bothersome. In any case I look forward to the meals we’ll be eating. The vest Inn in town must serve similarly great food.” She told him making him look towards me as I narrowed my eyes and lifted my card up shocking him more as he saw my true level.

‘Take that scammeer.’ I thought.

-Time Skip-

“He’ll be on his heels for the next 20 days, having to watch over that money, but you get what you get.” I said as we we’re now in our room.

Taking off my face mask, as I threw it into my inventory.

“Oh, also Mio, Sorry for not letting you rest, but I need you to do something for me.” I said making her look towards me.

“What is it?” She asked.

“May you go and learn about the merchant’s guild’s requirements and rules? I want to know if we can sell stuff without their card.” I told her.

“Eh? Right now?” She asked

“Yes, by tomorrow everyone in town will know about us and that’ll make it harder. Afterwards we can do some research in town and eat there. Knowing you, the Inn’s food probably won’t be enough.” I said making her immediately brighten up.

“Understood, I’ll be heading out immediately!” She said immediately going off to do her task as I sat on the bed with a small smile.

“Thr Inn’s price aside, I’m sure the pricing in this town is off.” Tomoe said making me nod in agreement.

“I thought it may be inflation, but the average monthly salary here is around 2-3 silver coins. So deflation is most likely it.” I stated.

“What are these inflation and deflation?” Tomoe asked.

“Hm? Oh, Inflation is when the prices go up, but the value of currency goes down, and deflation is the opposite.” I told her.

“So based on the salaries here, prices should be lower, but in reality weapons and armors are available for cheap here. While raw materials exclusive to here and basic necessities are expensive. A single bottle of water costs several copper and you’d spend half your monthly salary on food.” I explained as she nodded.

“Indeed, it seems rather suspicious!” She said making me raise a brow towards her.

“You seem excited about this.” I pointed out as she smiled.

“Trouble and evil are only natural on a pilgrimage to right the world! I suppose you would be the elderly Noble woman, Young Miss.” She making me look at her.

“…I’m not interested in saving or fixing this world., nor am I an old woman. Wait did you cause a ruckus at the guild and ignore the people following us on purpose?” I asked with narrowed eyes.

“Hm? What do you mean?” She said turning away from me as she stared at the painting on the wall.

‘I don’t even want to bother now.’ I thought as I brought out my Zanpakuto’s and began to meditate with the two.

-Time Skip-

“I have returned” Mio said coming through the doors.

“…What is it? I’m starting to feel embarrassed from your gaze.” She said as I sat gazing at her.

I could only sigh as I stared at her.

“I guess you’d be Hachibei.” I said as she looked at me confused.

“Hachi?” She questioned.

“Well done, Mio! You’ve caught them splendidly!” Tomoe said.

“Did I catch something?” Mio asked as she began to look around herself.

‘Mio is not the type to avoid things.’ I thought as Mio began to sniff herself still think she caught something supernatural.

‘They found our location due to the adventurers guild. I can already imagine there’s people wait for us at merchant’s guild branch office.’ I thought.

“Mio, it seems you we’re followed back from the branch office.” I told her as her expression immediately changed from cute to mad.

“What?! I shall go deal with them!” Mio said making me shake my head.

“No need too, we’ll let them go for now.” I told her as I placed my Zanpakutos in my inventory and placed on my mask.

“Let’s go eat dinner, you can tell all about what you learned then.” I told her as she smiled.

“Dinner! Very well!” She responded.

“You’re heading out?” Tomoe asked as I nodded.

“Yes, and Tomoe you’ll go to the wagon guard the cargo tonight.” I told her as she looked at me shocked.

“R-Right now? What about my meal…?” She asked me as I reached into my inventory and brought out a basket of persimmons.

“Enjoy them, Kaku.” I said making her look at me as I gave a mischievous look.

‘Who said I wouldn’t get you back.’ I thought.

“Also if you want more to bad don’t even think of eating the cargo.” I told her as she looked at me with tears peaking.

“That’s cruel Young Miss!” She said as I pulled down my mask and gave her a small smile.

“That’s your punishment, To-moe~” I said leaving right after with Mio as went to go have dinner.

Walking around thr town, Mio was leaning on me while keeping my arm in her grasp.

“Young Miss, I’m so happy to eat and alone with you…” She said making me give a wryly as I blushed a bit due to her busom on my arm.

“Uhh sure, I’m glad your happy.” I responded as we continued forth, but suddenly stopped when we heard the sound of small footsteps moving towards us.

Looking back, me and Mio laid our eyes on a little girl wearing tattered clothing covered in dirt and some scrapes.

‘What is little girl doing out so late?’
