Chapter 2

Lena hadn’t planned on staying long.

The bar was loud, the music blending into a dull hum, conversations around her blurred into background static. She sat alone, swirling her drink, bored. Not lonely, just restless. That kind of boredom that made her want friction. Something unpredictable. Something alive.

That’s when she noticed her.

Miu, sitting at the bar counter, elbows lightly resting on the wood, fingers circling a glass she hadn’t touched in a while. Her posture was straight, shoulders tense but controlled, precise, someone carrying more weight than she wanted to show, yet making it look effortless.

Single. Ready. Dangerous.

Lena didn’t overthink it. She never did when curiosity called.

“Hi. Can I join you?”

Miu looked up slowly, assessing. Her gaze was sharp, deliberate, and unreadable. She didn’t smile. She didn’t frown. She just nodded.

Lena slid onto the empty stool beside her, close enough to feel the warmth of her presence.

“Thank you.” Lena said lightly.

“I was starting to think I’d have to talk to myself tonight.”

“That bad?” Miu asked, finally taking a slow sip of her drink.

“Worse.” Lena replied.

“Quietly miserable.”

Miu huffed a quiet laugh.

“You don’t look miserable.”

“Neither do you.” Lena said, eyes flicking to Miu’s untouched glass.

“But I can tell.”

Miu’s gaze sharpened, measuring.

“And what gave me away?”

“The way you’re deciding whether to stay or vanish.” Lena said, letting the words hang.

Miu’s eyes twitched, intrigued.

“Bold observation. Do you do that often?”

“Only on people who look like they might need company. Or trouble.”

A flicker of amusement crossed Miu’s face.

“And which one am I?”

Lena leaned in just slightly, voice low, teasing.

“Depends what you’re hoping for.”

The corner of Miu’s mouth lifted faintly, barely a smile, deliberate, a warning and a challenge.

“Are you flirting with me?” Miu asked.

“I am.” Lena admitted, casually, like she hadn’t just thrown a spark into a pile of gasoline.

Miu turned to face her, elbows on the bar.

“Then let’s set rules before this goes anywhere.”

“Rules already?” Lena raised an eyebrow.

“We just met.”

“Exactly.” Miu said, her tone serious now, sharp.

“No names. No asking for numbers. No social media. No expectations beyond tonight. Got it?”

Lena blinked. Then grinned.

“Got it.”

Miu studied her, tilting her head.

“Fast agreement. Dangerous.”

“I like dangerous.” Lena said softly.

Miu smirked faintly, eyes steady, measuring.

“Careful. That’s my line.”

They drank. Talked. Laughter low, private, carrying secrets between them. Words brushed against boundaries, teasing. Lena leaned in just a fraction closer, asking for more without asking anything at all.

“So…” Lena said after a pause, voice softer now.

“What’s got you sitting here like you’re waiting for the night to end?”

Miu exhaled slowly.

“Work. Decisions I didn’t want to make but had to. People I can’t avoid. Responsibilities I can’t run from.”

“Sounds heavy.” Lena said.

“Want to forget about it for a bit?”

Miu’s gaze met hers, calculating, daring.

“Are you offering distraction?”

“I’m offering honesty.” Lena said.

“And a very bad idea.”

Miu’s lips curved, deliberate, teasing.

“I already said you might be one.”

“Then maybe you should stop thinking and start choosing.” Lena replied, leaning in, letting the tension thrum between them.

There was a long pause. Eyes locking. Breath barely controlled.

Then Lena said softly.

“I booked a room upstairs.”

Miu didn’t respond immediately.

“One night.”

“Only one.” Lena said.

“No names.” Miu reminded her, serious, sharp, teasing.

Lena nodded.

“Still got it.”

Miu gave her a look that said watch yourself. Then she stood. Lena followed.

The next morning, Lena woke up alone.

The other side of the bed was cold, untouched except for the faint imprint of where Miu had been. No note. No message. Just quiet.

Lena smiled softly. The rules had been kept. They had both survived the night intact… mostly.

•••••

Exactly one week later, Lena stepped into the lobby of her office building. She wasn’t thinking much, just the hum of a weekday, the routine of the elevator.

Except…

Miu was already inside.

Recognition hit instantly. Sharp. Electric. Impossible to ignore. Neither of them worked in the same company. They barely even knew each other professionally, but here they were, in the same building, and the universe seemed to be laughing quietly at the coincidence.

The elevator doors closed with a soft chime, small but deafening in that charged space.

Neither spoke.

They stood side by side, close enough to feel each other’s presence, far enough to pretend it didn’t matter. Mirrors reflected subtle glances, unsteady breaths, and the unsaid memory of a night neither could erase.

Miu’s eyes flicked to Lena’s reflection. Then away. Then back. Slow. Calculated. Bold.

“So…” Lena said lightly, voice low, teasing.

“Is this the part where we pretend we don’t know each other?”

Miu hummed, eyes forward.

“I was wondering how long you’d last.”

Silence.

“When destiny calls…” Lena said lightly, breaking the silence.

“I think we should answer. Don’t you think?”

Miu tilted her head, gaze sharp and teasing.

“Too bad. I don’t answer calls from unknown people.”

Lena chuckled softly and turned fully toward her. She extended her hand.

“My name’s Lena.” She said, calm and playful.

“And I’m politely asking if I can invite you for a coffee right now.”

Miu glanced at the hand, then smirked.

“Isn’t that a little formal…” She said almost innocently.

“…for someone who slid her tongue on mine last week?”

Lena’s breath hitched, but she didn’t pull away.

“Careful…” Miu added softly.

“You’re breaking the rules.”

“I thought the rules were only for one night.” Lena replied.

Miu’s smile deepened, slow and deliberate, eyes locking onto Lena’s with that sharp, electric calm that made everything feel dangerous.

“Fine…” She murmured, voice low, sharp, and deliberate.

“…but from now on…”

Her gaze flicked past Lena to the closing elevator doors, then back, lingering, daring.

“You shouldn’t… ever ask anyone the same question you asked me at the bar.”

Lena’s lips curved into a mischievous smirk.

“Oh?” She said lightly.

“And what if I do?”

Miu’s eyes glinted with sharp amusement, challenging and dangerous.

“I’d like to see you try.”

Lena held her gaze. The smirk softened into something warmer, more certain.

“Oh, I will.” She said lightly.

“But only with the same girl who caught my attention that night.”

Miu’s smirk returned, slower now. Certain.

“Good.” She replied.

The elevator chimed.

The doors slid open.

Miu didn’t look away.

Neither did Lena.

•••••

Inside Miu’s condo, the moment they stepped in, everything felt charged. Their things were quickly set aside, attention fully on each other.

Miu reached for Lena first, fingers moving to loosen the buttons of her polo, while Lena’s hands found the zipper of Miu’s dress. Their movements were hurried, almost impatient, like they had been holding back for far too long.

Their lips met, soft at first, then deeper, more urgent. Lena gently guided Miu onto the bed, hovering above her as their kisses lingered.

“You’re really driving me crazy…” Lena murmured against her skin, her voice low and unsteady.

Miu let out a quiet breath, her eyes closing as she tilted her head slightly.

“These lips… they’re mine, okay?” She said softly, though there was a hint of playful warning in her tone.

Lena smiled.

“They’ve been yours since day one.”

Miu suddenly paused, blinking as a thought hit her.

“Wait… we just came from outside and went straight here. That’s… not okay. Bathroom. Now.”

Lena laughed, but followed her anyway.

Under the shower, the cool water contrasted with the warmth between them. They stood close, the silence filled with shared glances and quiet anticipation.

Slowly, they let go of whatever layers remained, not rushed this time, but deliberate, taking each other in.

“Wow…” Lena whispered, almost to herself, meeting Miu’s gaze.

Miu smirked slightly, clearly aware of the effect she had.

“You like what you see?”

“Definitely.”

Lena stepped closer and kissed her again, softer now but no less intense.

The moment stretched, unspoken feelings, lingering touches, and the steady rhythm of water surrounding them.

Miu’s breathing grew uneven, her hands instinctively finding Lena, holding on.

“Hey…” She whispered, voice lighter now, almost teasing.

“Careful.”

Lena chuckled, resting her forehead against Miu’s.

“I’m trying… but you’re not making it easy.”

They stayed like that for a moment, close, warm, and wrapped in each other’s presence.

When they finally pulled back, Lena wrapped her arms around Miu, holding her gently.

“You’re mine.” She murmured softly.

Miu smiled, eyes warm.

“Is that a proposal?”

“More like… a statement.”

Miu laughed quietly, nudging her.

“You’re cuter than I thought.”

Lena raised an eyebrow.

“You mean my tongue? Or…”

Miu lightly patted Lena’s shoulder, shook her head, still smiling.

“Date me. No arguments.”

Lena didn’t even hesitate.

“I’ve already decided that a long time ago.”
