Chapter 96
Jennie had always said she didn’t mix work with love.
That was before Lisa started sitting on her bed, legs crossed, scrolling through her phone while Jennie filmed makeup videos—and accidentally stole half the attention without even trying.
“Okay, focus,” Jennie muttered to herself, adjusting the camera on her tripod. The ring light flickered on, bathing her room in a soft glow. Everything was perfectly set: vanity organized, brushes lined up, products neatly displayed like a mini boutique.
Behind her, Lisa snorted.
Jennie turned slowly, narrowing her eyes. “Do you mind?”
Lisa didn’t even look up. “You said you’re a natural, remember? Shouldn’t be distracted by a humble spectator like me.”
“You’re not humble,” Jennie shot back, but there was no bite to it. Her lips were already twitching into a smile.
Lisa finally looked up, her eyes warm and teasing. “Then prove it, influencer.”
Jennie rolled her eyes dramatically, turning back to the camera. “Hi, everyone! Welcome back to my channel—today, we’re doing something a little different.”
Lisa immediately straightened up. “Wait. Why do I feel involved in this?”
Jennie glanced over her shoulder, smirking. “Because you are.”
Lisa froze. “No.”
Jennie’s grin widened. “Yes.”
“I didn’t agree to this.”
“You agreed to exist in my apartment. That’s enough.”
Lisa dropped her phone onto the bed with a dramatic groan. “Jennie, I am not letting you turn me into a clown for your millions of followers.”
“You won’t be a clown,” Jennie said sweetly. “You’ll be my canvas.”
“That sounds worse.”
Jennie spun her chair around and stood, walking toward Lisa with a brush already in hand. “Come on, Lili. Just sit. I’ll make you look pretty.”
“I already look pretty,” Lisa shot back instantly.
Jennie paused, then nodded. “True. But imagine… prettier.”
Lisa blinked. “That’s impossible.”
Jennie leaned closer, her voice dropping. “Are you scared?”
Lisa’s pride kicked in immediately. “I’m not scared.”
“Then sit.”
A beat.
Lisa sighed dramatically and slid off the bed, plopping down in front of Jennie’s vanity like she was being forced into battle. “If I look ugly, I’m breaking up with you.”
Jennie laughed. “Relax. You’re dating a professional.”
“Self-proclaimed.”
Jennie gently tilted Lisa’s chin upward. “Shh. Let the artist work.”
The moment shifted.
Lisa went quiet—not because she wanted to, but because Jennie’s hands were suddenly everywhere. Gentle. Careful. Focused.
Jennie dabbed foundation onto Lisa’s skin, blending it in soft strokes. Her brows furrowed slightly in concentration, lips parted just a bit as she leaned in closer.
Lisa swallowed.
“You’re staring,” Jennie murmured without looking up.
“You’re touching my face,” Lisa replied.
“That’s kind of the point.”
Lisa huffed softly but didn’t move. Her eyes stayed on Jennie, watching every small movement. The way Jennie’s fingers brushed her jaw. The way she’d occasionally tilt her head, studying Lisa like a masterpiece in progress.
“You’re being extra careful,” Lisa said quietly.
Jennie smiled faintly. “Because it’s you.”
Lisa’s heart did something annoying.
“Don’t mess up my girlfriend,” she muttered.
Jennie chuckled. “Your girlfriend is already perfect. I’m just… enhancing.”
Lisa didn’t respond this time.
She just watched.
Time passed in soft touches and quiet teasing—Jennie explaining products to the camera while occasionally slipping into playful comments meant only for Lisa.
“This blush gives a natural flush,” Jennie said smoothly to her audience, brushing color onto Lisa’s cheeks. Then, under her breath, she added, “Not that you need help blushing.”
Lisa’s ears turned red instantly. “Jennie.”
Jennie smirked.
By the time Jennie reached the final step, Lisa was unusually still. Calm. Almost… shy.
“Okay,” Jennie said, stepping back slightly. “Done.”
Lisa blinked. “Already?”
Jennie nodded, grabbing a small mirror. “Look.”
Lisa hesitated before taking it.
And then…
“…Whoa.”
Jennie crossed her arms, watching closely. “Good ‘whoa’ or bad ‘whoa’?”
Lisa turned her face slightly, inspecting the details. Soft glam. Clean, glowing skin. Subtle eyeshadow that somehow made her eyes pop even more.
“I look…” Lisa paused, then glanced at Jennie. “…expensive.”
Jennie burst out laughing. “That’s the goal.”
Lisa smirked, leaning back in the chair. “So this is what dating a famous influencer gets me, huh?”
Jennie leaned closer, resting her hands on the armrests. “You get more than that.”
Lisa raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
Jennie tilted her chin again—this time not for makeup.
“For example…” Jennie whispered, closing the distance just enough that Lisa could feel her breath.
Lisa didn’t move.
“…you get exclusive perks.”
Lisa smiled slightly. “Like what?”
Jennie kissed her.
Soft. Quick. But enough to make Lisa melt instantly.
When Jennie pulled away, Lisa blinked, dazed. “That wasn’t in the tutorial.”
Jennie smirked at the camera. “Bonus content.”
Lisa groaned, covering her face. “Your followers are going to love this, aren’t they?”
Jennie shrugged casually. “Maybe.”
Lisa peeked through her fingers. “You’re unbelievable.”
Jennie leaned in again, softer this time. “But you love me.”
Lisa didn’t hesitate. “Obviously.”
Jennie smiled—and for a moment, she forgot the camera was even there.
Because in front of her wasn’t just her “makeup tester.”
It was Lisa.
Her Lisa.
And honestly?
No filter, no product, no video could ever top that.
