Chapter 24

The entire apartment was in chaos—but the kind of chaos that came with whispered excitement, hidden boxes, and three women who were very bad at keeping secrets.

Lalisa Manoban stood in the middle of the living room, holding a velvet ring box like it was made of glass, her eyes wide and slightly panicked.

“I’m going to throw up,” she muttered.

Across from her, Park Chaeyoung snorted, sprawled on the couch with a clipboard. “You said that ten minutes ago. And twenty minutes ago. And yesterday.”

“And last week,” added Kim Jisoo, who was currently surrounded by fairy lights, trying—and failing—to untangle them. “At this point, if you don’t throw up, I’ll be disappointed.”

Lisa groaned, dragging a hand down her face. “This is serious! I’m proposing to Kim Jennie. Jennie Kim. The Jennie Kim.”

Rosé raised an eyebrow. “Yes, your girlfriend of three years. The one who already acts like your wife.”

“Exactly,” Lisa said, voice cracking. “What if she says no?”

Jisoo looked up, deadpan. “Then I’ll propose to her instead.”

Lisa threw a pillow at her.

The plan was perfect. Or at least, it would be if Lisa didn’t feel like her heart was trying to escape her body.

She had spent weeks planning it.

Step one: a private rooftop dinner at their favorite place—the same one where she and Jennie had their first real date. Soft lights, candles, and a skyline view that Jennie loved.

Step two: a video montage Rosé helped compile—clips of their memories, from blurry candid photos to chaotic late-night videos.

Step three: Jisoo cueing the exact moment Lisa would kneel, timed perfectly with Jennie’s favorite song playing softly in the background.

Step four: Lisa… not passing out.

“Okay,” Rosé said, clapping her hands. “Run-through again.”

Lisa inhaled deeply, standing straight. “Jennie, from the moment I met you—”

“No, no,” Jisoo interrupted. “More emotion. Less like you’re reading a weather report.”

Lisa frowned. “I am emotional!”

“You look like you’re about to announce a typhoon,” Rosé said.

Lisa groaned again.

Meanwhile, completely unaware—or so it seemed—Jennie was having her own very different crisis.

In a different apartment, Kim Jennie paced back and forth, clutching her phone.

“She’s going to beat me to it,” she muttered.

Her best friend on the other end of the call sighed. “Jennie, you’ve been saying that for two weeks.”

“I know Lisa,” Jennie insisted. “She’s been acting suspicious. She hugged me for five extra seconds yesterday. That’s proposal behavior.”

“…That’s girlfriend behavior.”

“No, it’s proposal behavior,” Jennie said firmly. “And I refuse to lose.”

“You’re not in a competition.”

“I am now.”

Jennie glanced at the small ring box hidden in her drawer, her heart pounding.

Because she had planned something too.

Something dramatic.

Something very Jennie.

The night arrived faster than Lisa expected.

The rooftop was glowing—warm lights draped everywhere, candles flickering, the city stretching endlessly behind them. It was perfect. Too perfect.

Lisa stood near the edge, adjusting her suit for the tenth time.

Rosé whispered, “Relax. She’ll love it.”

Jisoo nodded. “And if you faint, I’ll catch you. Maybe.”

“Maybe?”

Before Jisoo could answer, the door opened.

And there she was.

Jennie.

Lisa’s breath caught immediately.

Jennie stepped out, dressed elegantly, eyes scanning the setup—and then landing on Lisa. For a moment, everything else faded.

“You did all this?” Jennie asked softly.

Lisa swallowed. “Y-Yeah.”

Jennie smiled, but there was something… mischievous in it. Something Lisa didn’t quite catch.

They sat, had dinner, laughed like they always did—Jennie teasing Lisa, Lisa blushing, Rosé and Jisoo hiding nearby like terrible spies.

Then came the moment.

Rosé gave the signal.

The music started.

Lisa stood up, hands trembling slightly. “Jennie…”

Jennie blinked, looking up at her.

Lisa took a deep breath, reaching for the ring—

Only for Jennie to suddenly stand up too.

“Wait.”

Lisa froze. “…What?”

Jennie smiled sweetly.

And then—

She dropped to one knee.

Lisa’s brain stopped working.

Rosé choked behind the curtain.

Jisoo slapped a hand over her mouth.

Jennie held out her own ring, eyes shining with a mix of nerves and determination.

“Lalisa Manoban,” she said, voice steady despite everything, “you are the most annoying, lovable, dramatic person I’ve ever met.”

Lisa stared at her, completely frozen.

“You steal my clothes, you steal my food, and you somehow stole my entire life too,” Jennie continued, a small laugh escaping. “So I figured… I might as well make it official.”

Lisa’s eyes started watering.

Jennie tilted her head slightly. “Will you marry me?”

Silence.

One second.

Two seconds.

“Lisa?” Jennie asked.

Lisa suddenly dropped to her knees too.

“I WAS GOING TO ASK YOU THAT!” she blurted out, pulling out her own ring.

Jennie blinked.

Rosé lost it, collapsing into silent laughter.

Jisoo whispered, “This is better than any drama I’ve watched.”

Lisa, still kneeling, grabbed Jennie’s hand. “I had a whole speech! There were cues! There was timing!”

Jennie laughed, tears forming in her eyes. “Well, you were taking too long!”

“I was following the plan!”

“I don’t do plans!”

They stared at each other for a moment—

—and then both started laughing.

“Wait,” Lisa said, suddenly serious again. “You didn’t answer me.”

Jennie grinned. “You didn’t answer me either.”

“…Yes,” Lisa said quickly.

“…Yes,” Jennie echoed just as fast.

They both laughed again, slipping the rings onto each other’s fingers almost at the same time.

Lisa pulled Jennie into a tight hug, burying her face in her shoulder. “You ruined my dramatic moment.”

Jennie hugged her back just as tightly. “I made it better.”

“…You did,” Lisa admitted.

From behind them—

“BEST PROPOSAL EVER!” Rosé shouted, finally revealing herself.

Jisoo followed, clapping. “10/10. Would cry again.”

Jennie pulled back slightly, raising an eyebrow. “You knew?”

Lisa groaned. “They helped me.”

Jennie smirked. “Good. Now they can help plan the wedding too.”

Rosé froze. “Wait—what?”

Jisoo immediately pointed at Lisa. “She’s in charge.”

Lisa blinked. “Hey—!”

Jennie just smiled, intertwining their fingers, her voice soft but certain.

“Doesn’t matter who planned it,” she said. “We still ended up here.”

Lisa looked at her, heart completely full.

“Yeah,” she whispered. “We did.”
