Chapter 2
It was rather a windy night in Rosewood and Callie was walking with her best friend Alison. The wind brushed their hair roughly as it swayed in the air all around them. Callie laughed. “That’s disguising!”
Alison nodded her head beside the brunette. “I know.” She smirked as she looked around the neighborhood, they were close to Spencer’s barn. “Hey do you wanna do something?”
Callie looked over at Alison. “Sure. Like what?”
“We should scare them.” She said keeping her eyes in front of her.
Callie looked away from her. “Really?” She thought about it for a moment. Should she? It couldn’t hurt plus it would be a really good laugh. Regardless she has to you don’t say “no” to Alison DiLaurentis. “Sure, let’s do it.”
Alison smiled at her, grabbing her hand. Callie smiled at that. “Come on.” They entered Spencer’s backyard, laughter was heard while they began to jog over to the barn. Callie hid in a bush right next to the barn, Alison let go of her hand, which caused Callie to frown immediately missing her warm touch. “Stay right here.” The blonde then ran away out of sight. Moments passed by before the laughter in the barn quickly died down. Alison had shut off the power.
Before Callie knew it Alison returned grabbing her hand once again. They crept over to the barn closer and closer… Callie reached over with her other hand and slightly opened the barn door. Alison then threw down a glass bottle. Callie jumped not expecting it. “Where the hell did you get that?” Alison shushed her.
“Gotcha!” Alison and Callie jumped out making the other girls scream in fright. Alison smiled at their reactions while Callie matched her.
“That’s so not funny, Alison.” Spencer Hastings said clutching her pearls. The other girls began to laugh, Callie and Alison began to walk further into the barn.
They all sat down, Callie sitting down on a pillow next to Alison’s feet.
“Ali, did you download the new Beyoncé?” asked Hanna Marin.
“Oh, not yet.” She answered back grabbing a red, clear cup.
Emily Fields smiled. “I’m loving her new video.”
Alison looked over at her knowingly. “Maybe a little too much, Em.” Emily frowned. Alison reached over to hand Aria Montgomery the cup. “Your turn.”
Aria began to drink quickly. “Be careful, Aria. Take too much and you’ll tell us all your secrets.” Spencer warned.
Callie and the other girls laughed. “Yeah and we wouldn’t want that.” She said, adjusting her position.
Ali looked over at her confused. “Friends share secrets. That’s what keeps us close.” Hanna smiled at her, Alison looked back over at Aria. “Drink up.” She encouraged.
The night carried on as usual as they all fell asleep.
Aria stirred in her sleep, groaning as she sat up and looked around not seeing Spencer or Alison in sight. She reached over and tapped Emily. “Hey, Em!”
Everyone began to wake up. “Where’s Ali and Spencer?” Hanna questioned not seeing them either.
“We don’t know.” Aria shook her head at them.
Callie started to look around too, fear filling her gut. She stood up hastily. “Alice?” She called out, walking towards the exit, Aria following behind her. “Alice?” She called out, louder than before. She saw a shadow walking towards her, it was Spencer, alone. “Spence? Where’s Alison?”
“She’s gone.” Spencer told her closing in on her, stepping inside the barn.
“What?” Callie said confused, looking at her for more answers which she didn’t provided. Callie pushed past Spencer stepping out into the chilly night. “Ali!” She looked around the leaf covered yard. “Alison, where are you?”
Back inside the barn. “What do you mean she’s gone?” Aria asked just as confused as Callie but not caring enough to step out and look with her.
Spencer stood strangely. “I’ve looked everywhere for her.” Hanna and Emily looked at each other. “Think I heard her scream.”
———–
A year went by since Alison had disappeared without a trace. No one knew how or why but she was gone.
“Yes, Dad! I know.” Callie groaned in her bed still bunched up in her blankets. Her dad entered the room looking disappointed. She looked up at him with puppy eyes. “Can I please just stay home today?”
“Calli-“
“Dad, please. I don’t feel like dealing with all those teachers plus I’m pretty sure Pigskin wants to eat my face. Literally.” She sat up in her bed trying to reason with him.
“Pigskin?” He looked at her confused.
She rolled her eyes. “Nothing, forget it.”
Rick sighed as he sat on her bed. “I understand that you don’t want to go but you have to. You’ve been cooped up in your room since what happened to Alis-” He immediately cut himself off meeting his daughter’s gaze, which said “don’t you even dare” and he didn’t. Rick swallowed. “If you go to school today I promise to get you, your favorite for dinner.”
Callie instantly jumped out of her bed, earning a chuckle from her dad. “Why didn’t you just start with that?”
________
Now inside of Roosewood High School, Callie walked the halls for what felt like years. She remembers walking them with Alison. She never really talked about what happened to anyone, not even her own dad.
“Callie?” A voice sounded off behind her when she turned around she was met with a familiar face.
Callie blinked. “Spencer?” The Hastings girl looked really different. Her face was more define and she grew into her older features well. Even her hair was longer than before.
She smiled at her. “Hey, it is you.”
“Yup. It’s me.” Callie said shyly, which was rare. Spencer’s eyes trailed the girl up and down taking in her new look. Callie’s hair was longer too, her jawline was sharper than ever and her style enhanced. Gosh, she was beautiful more than the year prior. Spencer’s gaze stayed on Callie before she cleared her throat. “You done? Take a picture it’ll last longer.”
Spencer snapped out of her trance. “What?”
Callie laughed at the girl. “You haven’t change at all, Spence.”
Spencer smiled. “What does that mean?”
“It’s not a bad thing. You look good, Spencer.” She winked.
Spencer’s spit got catch in her throat. “What?”
Callie leaned down in front of her ear. “Learn how to take a compliment, Caesar.”
Callie sat on Spencer’s bed looking up at her. “Caesar. You’re starting to scare me.” She smiled shyly.
Spencer laughed. “Scared of what? I wanted to spend sometime with you. You’re always hanging out with, Ali.”
Callie bit her lower lip. “That is true. I guess the girl just likes my company.”
“Is that so?” Spencer sat down beside her keeping eye contact. Callie hummed in reply. “I like your company too.”
She tilted her head. “Oh, I’m just winning extra points today.” Callie’s eyes fell on Spencer’s lips for a slight second but she noticed it. “We should definitely hang out more than, you know? Just the two of us.”
Spencer scooted closer, Callie also following but unconsciously. “Yeah, I like the sound of that.”
Callie smirked, realizing that Spencer’s eyes were locked on her lips. “Do you now?”
“Mhm.” She licked her lips like her body craved it, to have Callie right here, right now.
Both girls leaned in slowly neither of them realizing before their lips connected. Callie was took by surprise but started to follow Spencer’s slow rhythm, melting into it. It felt good and right, neither of them wanted to stop as their bodies begged for more. Spencer then moved over and onto Callie’s lap, straddling her. Their lips stayed connected as they moved in sweet harmony. Callie’s hands met the girl hips while Spencer’s remained in the other girls hair.
Callie pulled away for air. “Spence.” She panted trying to catch her breath.
“Yeah?” She swallowed panting as well.
“No one can know about this.” She looked deep into Spencer’s eyes showing complete seriousness. “Especially, Alice.”
Spencer was confused and wanted to ask why, the other girls were understanding. They’d support them. Now Alison that was understandable. Instead of asking any further questions, she just nodded. “Okay. I won’t.”
“Do you promise?”
“Cross my heart.”
Aria and Emily sat in their seats watching Spencer walk in with Callie. Spencer and Hanna met eyes, gently smiling at one another.
“They’re not close anymore either.” Emily told Aria, who watched the encounter.
“So they’re friendly, but not friends.” She whispered, Emily nodded in agreeance. “Looks like Callie and Spencer are though.”
Emily looked over at them. “Oh, not really. Callie’s been at home all summer. No one’s seen her since Alison.”
Aria hummed. “Do you know why that is?” Emily shrugged her shoulders not fully knowing why.
——
After school was over Callie said goodbye to Spencer before walking in the direction of her house. The wind was steady and the breeze was still, Callie loved going on walks especially on days like this where the weather was just right.
Callie’s phone dinged, a new message. It was probably just her dad wondering if she was on her way home yet.
With a sigh she unlocked her phone and tapped on the notification.

Her eyes widened each time she read the words. “What the hell? Who the hell sent this?” She asked herself out loud, looking around her to see if anyone was near her, but no one was. She just shrugged it off and blocked the number, continuing her day.
________
After dinner Callie got ready for bed before her phone went off again. It was Spencer.
With a skeptical look she answered. “Hello? Spence, it’s late.”
“They found Ali’s body.”
