Chapter 115
The pool shimmered under the golden afternoon sun, its surface rippling gently with every small movement. It was one of those rare days where everything felt slow-no rush, no noise, just peace.
Lisa rested her arms along the edge of the pool, her chin propped on top as she watched the water lazily dance. Her dark hair clung slightly to her face, droplets sliding down her neck as she breathed out a content sigh.
A few feet away, Jennie floated effortlessly on her back, eyes closed, completely at ease. Her fingers skimmed the water now and then, creating tiny ripples that spread outward like quiet echoes.
“This is perfect,” Jennie murmured softly.
Lisa smiled without looking away. “You’ve said that three times already.”
“And I’ll say it again,” Jennie replied, cracking one eye open. “Because it’s true.”
Lisa chuckled, shaking her head. “You’re easy to please.”
Jennie flipped over smoothly, pushing herself upright in the water. “No, I just know when something’s nice.”
She swam closer, stopping right in front of Lisa. For a moment, neither of them spoke. The quiet felt comfortable, filled only by the sound of water gently moving around them.
Lisa reached out, brushing a stray strand of hair away from Jennie’s face. “You look too relaxed. It’s suspicious.”
Jennie raised a brow. “Suspicious?”
“Yeah,” Lisa said, narrowing her eyes playfully. “Like you’re about to do something.”
Jennie smirked.
That was all the warning Lisa got.
With a sudden splash, Jennie dove underwater, disappearing completely. Lisa blinked, then laughed, immediately pushing off the edge to follow her.
The world shifted the moment Lisa submerged. Everything became quieter, softer-just bubbles and movement. She spotted Jennie ahead, gliding smoothly through the water like she had done this a thousand times.
Lisa kicked harder, catching up.
Jennie glanced back, eyes sparkling even underwater, before speeding up again.
Lisa surfaced first this time, gasping dramatically. “Hey! That wasn’t a race!”
Jennie popped up right after, laughing. “You chased me. That makes it a race.”
“You tricked me!”
“Did I?” Jennie tilted her head innocently.
Lisa huffed, though her grin gave her away. “You’re impossible.”
“And yet,” Jennie said, floating backward again, “you love me.”
Lisa rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. Instead, she leaned back, letting herself float too. For a few seconds, they simply drifted side by side, the sun warming their faces.
It was peaceful again.
Too peaceful.
Lisa turned her head slightly-and paused.
“…Babe?”
Jennie hummed. “Mm?”
Lisa pointed vaguely toward the middle of the pool, trying to keep her voice steady. “I think… something’s floating.”
Jennie glanced over lazily at first-then immediately froze.
There, drifting along the water like it belonged there, was part of her swimwear.
“…Oh no.”
Lisa pressed her lips together, clearly fighting a laugh. “Uh… should I pretend I didn’t see that?”
“Lisa!” Jennie splashed toward it, her calm completely gone. “Don’t just stare!”
“I’m not staring!” Lisa protested, though she was already laughing. “It just caught me off guard!”
Jennie grabbed it quickly, her cheeks slightly flushed. “You could at least help instead of laughing!”
Lisa swam closer, still grinning. “Okay, okay, I’m helping!”
“You’re not helping, you’re enjoying this.”
“I can do both,” Lisa said proudly.
Jennie gave her a look-half annoyed, half amused. “Unbelievable.”
Lisa softened a little, her laughter easing into a warm smile. “Hey… it’s just me.”
Jennie sighed, but her expression relaxed. “I know. Still embarrassing though.”
Lisa leaned her arms on the pool edge again. “You handled it well.”
Jennie raised a brow. “I panicked.”
“Gracefully panicked,” Lisa corrected.
Jennie snorted. “That’s not a thing.”
“It is now.”
They both laughed, the tension dissolving as quickly as it came.
Jennie moved closer, resting beside Lisa this time. “Next time we swim, I’m double-checking everything before getting in.”
Lisa nodded seriously. “Smart plan.”
A pause.
“…Or,” Lisa added, her grin slowly returning, “we could just accept that chaos follows you everywhere.”
Jennie splashed her immediately. “Wow. Rude.”
Lisa laughed, splashing back. Within seconds, they were back to playfully attacking each other, water flying in every direction as their laughter echoed around the quiet space.
Eventually, they tired themselves out again, both clinging to the pool’s edge, breathing a little heavier.
“You started that,” Jennie muttered.
“You splashed first.”
“You deserved it.”
Lisa smirked. “Worth it.”
Jennie shook her head, but she was smiling.
The sun dipped lower, painting everything in warm gold. The water calmed again, mirroring the sky above.
This time, when silence returned, it stayed.
Jennie leaned slightly closer, their shoulders touching. “Despite everything… this really is nice.”
Lisa glanced at her, her expression soft. “Yeah. It is.”
No teasing. No jokes.
Just quiet agreement.
Lisa added “It’s not like I didn’t saw everything you have hon” chuckled.
“Lisa!! Stop now!!” Jennie whined.
They stayed like that, side by side in the water, letting the day slowly fade-comfortable, warm, and completely at ease with each other.
And somewhere in the middle of all that calm, Lisa smiled to herself, knowing that even the little unexpected moments-like today-somehow made everything even better.
