Chapter 106
The music was loud, the lights were warm, and the gymnasium—once just a place for morning assemblies and awkward PE classes—was now dressed up for nostalgia.
The banner read: “10-Year High School Reunion.”
Lisa adjusted the sleeve of her blouse, eyes scanning the crowd with a soft, almost shy smile. People were laughing, catching up, showing off careers, partners, achievements…
And exes.
So many exes.
“Lalisa?”
She turned, polite as always. “Oh—hi.”
A former classmate—one of the many who used to follow her around back then—grinned a little too brightly. “Wow… you look exactly the same.”
Lisa gave a small, courteous laugh. “Thank you.”
Before the conversation could go any further—
A hand slipped into hers.
Warm. Familiar. Possessive.
“Baby.”
Lisa didn’t even have to look. Her lips curved instantly.
Jennie.
Jennie stepped beside her like she owned the entire room—which, honestly, she kind of did even without trying. Elegant, confident, eyes sharp but soft the moment they landed on Lisa.
“Why didn’t you wait for me?” Jennie pouted lightly, thumb brushing over Lisa’s knuckles.
Lisa blinked, already melting. “You were talking to your friends…”
“And you left me alone?” Jennie gasped softly like it was the greatest betrayal. “That’s so mean.”
The classmate awkwardly cleared his throat, suddenly invisible.
Jennie glanced at him—just one quick look—then turned back to Lisa as if he didn’t exist.
“Did you eat?” Jennie asked, voice dropping into that gentle tone only Lisa ever got.
Lisa shook her head a little. “Not yet…”
Jennie frowned immediately. “Why?”
“I—I was just—”
“You’ll get dizzy again,” Jennie murmured, already guiding her away. “Come on.”
Lisa barely had time to wave a small goodbye before she was gently pulled along.
Across the room, people stared.
Because this—
This was not the Jennie they remembered.
The Jennie they knew back then? Untouchable. Popular. Surrounded. The kind of girl everyone wanted but no one could really have.
And now?
Now she was holding Lisa’s hand like it was something precious.
Like it was everything.
—
They settled at one of the tables, and Jennie immediately started fussing.
“Sit properly,” she said softly, fixing Lisa’s posture like second nature.
Lisa giggled. “I am sitting properly.”
“No, you’re not,” Jennie insisted, gently tucking a strand of hair behind Lisa’s ear. “You look tired.”
“I’m fine…”
“You said that last time too and then you almost fainted.”
“That was one time—”
Jennie didn’t argue. She just sighed and reached for a plate, carefully picking out food.
“Open.”
Lisa blinked. “…Jennie, we’re in public.”
“Open.”
There it was.
That tone.
Lisa immediately obeyed.
Jennie fed her like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Across the room, whispers started.
“Is that… Jennie Kim?”
“She’s feeding her—”
“Wait, aren’t they married?”
“No way—”
“Yes way.”
Lisa chewed, cheeks slightly pink, but her eyes sparkled.
Because she loved this.
Every second of it.
Jennie wiped the corner of Lisa’s lips with her thumb. “Messy.”
Lisa leaned into her touch without thinking. “You made me messy.”
Jennie smiled softly. “And I’ll clean you up every time.”
—
Later that evening, it got worse.
Or better.
Depending on who you asked.
A group of former admirers—both Jennie’s and Lisa’s—ended up nearby, clearly trying to act casual while watching.
Jennie noticed.
Of course she did.
She didn’t say anything at first.
Instead, she just… got softer.
“Are you cold?” she asked, already slipping off her blazer.
Lisa blinked. “A little…”
Jennie draped it over her shoulders, adjusting it carefully like Lisa was something fragile.
“Better?”
Lisa nodded, smiling up at her. “Very.”
Jennie didn’t pull away.
Her hand lingered at Lisa’s cheek, thumb brushing gently.
“You’re so cute,” she murmured.
Lisa let out a tiny laugh, clearly thriving under the attention. “Stop…”
“Why?” Jennie tilted her head. “It’s true.”
Lisa hid her face in Jennie’s shoulder for a second, shy—but not really.
Jennie wrapped an arm around her immediately.
Protective.
Possessive.
Soft.
“Don’t hide,” Jennie whispered. “I want to see you.”
And that was it.
That was the moment everyone realized—
Lisa wasn’t just Jennie’s wife.
She was Jennie’s baby.
—
One of the ex-suitors finally couldn’t take it anymore.
“So… you two are really married, huh?”
Jennie looked up, calm and composed.
“Yes.”
Lisa squeezed her hand, smiling sweetly.
The guy chuckled awkwardly. “Didn’t expect that. I mean… Lisa was always so quiet, and you—”
Jennie raised an eyebrow.
“And me?” she asked.
He hesitated. “…hard to approach.”
Jennie hummed, glancing at Lisa.
Then she leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Lisa’s temple.
“I still am,” she said simply.
Lisa giggled.
The guy didn’t.
—
As the night went on, Jennie never left Lisa’s side.
Not once.
She fixed Lisa’s hair.
Held her hand.
Fed her dessert.
Pressed little kisses when she thought no one was looking.
(Spoiler: everyone was looking.)
And Lisa?
Lisa leaned into every single bit of it.
At one point, she even whispered, “They’re all staring…”
Jennie didn’t even glance around.
“Let them.”
Lisa smiled.
“Are you showing off?”
Jennie looked at her then—really looked at her—and smiled softly.
“No,” she said.
Then she squeezed Lisa’s hand gently.
“I’m just loving my wife.”
Lisa’s heart melted right there.
In the middle of the gym.
In front of everyone.
And honestly?
She hoped they kept staring.
Because this—
This was hers.
And she was absolutely, completely, unapologetically loving it.
