Chapter 90
NINI’S RANDOM QUESTION (FINALE)
•
•
Another week passed.
No questions.
No hypotheticals.
No mosquitoes, no dumplings, no identity crises disguised as curiosity.
Lisa didn’t trust it.
Not even a little.
She was in the living room, sitting on the couch, legs stretched out, phone resting on her stomach while she stared at the ceiling like she was waiting for something to drop.
“Too quiet,” she muttered.
Right on cue—
Jennie walked in.
Lisa didn’t move. “…There it is.”
Jennie didn’t say anything this time.
No doorway pause.
No slow approach.
Just… walking toward her.
Lisa turned her head slightly. “Okay, what is it? Am I a chair now? Are you a cloud? Are we both suddenly objects again?”
Jennie stopped in front of her.
Lisa finally sat up.
And that’s when she noticed.
Jennie’s hands weren’t empty.
Lisa blinked.
Once.
Twice.
“…Jennie?”
Jennie looked… calm.
But not in the usual way.
Not curious.
Not playful.
Something quieter.
Something steadier.
Lisa slowly sat up straighter. “Hey… what’s going on?”
Jennie stepped closer.
Then, without her usual dramatic pauses or weird setups—
She got down on one knee.
Lisa froze.
Completely.
Brain? Gone.
System? Shut down.
“…No,” Lisa whispered under her breath, like she was trying to process reality.
Jennie looked up at her, a small nervous smile finally breaking through that calm.
In her hand—
A ring.
Simple.
Beautiful.
Very real.
Lisa’s hands slowly lifted, like she didn’t know where to put them.
“Jennie…” her voice came out softer than she expected.
Jennie took a small breath.
And for once—
No strange scenario.
No transformation.
No “what if.”
Just this.
“Will you be mine forever, Lili?”
Silence.
Not the confused kind.
Not the chaotic kind.
The kind that feels full.
Lisa stared at her.
All those weeks—every weird question, every ridiculous scenario, every “what if I become this or that”—they all suddenly made sense in the most Jennie way possible.
Lisa let out a small, shaky laugh.
“…You’ve been practicing, haven’t you?”
Jennie blinked. “What?”
Lisa smiled, eyes soft now. “All those questions. You were testing my answers.”
Jennie didn’t deny it this time.
Lisa shook her head, half in disbelief, half in fondness. “You asked if I’d love you as a mosquito.”
Jennie smiled faintly.
“You asked if I’d eat you as a mandu.”
Jennie laughed quietly.
“You asked if I’d choose you over your twin… over a shirt… over everything.”
Jennie’s eyes softened.
Lisa leaned forward slightly, voice gentler now.
“And the answer never changed.”
Jennie swallowed softly. “So…?”
Lisa didn’t let her finish.
She reached out, cupping Jennie’s face with both hands, pulling her up just enough so they were closer.
“Jennie Kim,” Lisa murmured, smiling through something softer now, “you turned into every possible thing just to make sure I’d still choose you.”
Jennie whispered, “Would you?”
Lisa laughed softly.
“Baby,” she said, resting her forehead against Jennie’s, “I already did. A long time ago.”
Jennie’s breath caught.
Lisa pulled back just enough to look at her properly.
“Of course I’ll be yours forever.”
Jennie’s eyes lit up in that quiet, overwhelming way she had when she was truly happy.
“…Really?”
Lisa raised an eyebrow. “Do you want me to turn into a mosquito and say it again for confirmation?”
Jennie laughed, shaking her head.
Lisa smiled, softer now. “Yes. Really.”
Jennie slipped the ring onto Lisa’s finger, her hands just slightly trembling.
Lisa looked down at it for a second.
Then back at Jennie.
“…You’re unbelievable,” Lisa whispered.
Jennie tilted her head. “Why?”
Lisa smirked lightly. “You really went from ‘would you eat me’ to ‘will you marry me.’ That’s insane progression.”
Jennie shrugged. “It worked.”
Lisa laughed, pulling her into a hug.
“Yeah,” she murmured against her, holding her a little tighter, “it really did.”
Jennie buried her face in Lisa’s shoulder, smiling.
And for once—
No more questions.
Just an answer that had been there all along.
